  1. John H is John Heard - if you notice, I listed all last names until that last post. I thought Home Alone and Pelican Brief were both large enough movies that the name might be familiar - and I was tired and going to bed. Won't do it again, TUH.

Kurt Russell was also with Marc Alaimo in Tango and Cash, just for another example.

WC Fields? Sheez...you're really testing here...I'm really tempted to start with Mae West...lol

WC Fields with Eleanor Powell in Sensations of 1945

Eleanor Powell with Fred Astaire in Broadway Melody of 1940

Fred Astaire and OJ Simpson in The Towering Inferno

OJ Simpson and Ricardo Montalban in Naked Gun

Ricardo Montalban in TOS Space Seed and The Wrath of Khan

    Florence Henderson

  2. When Columbia streaked across the Texas Sky for the final time? At home, between jobs. I almost never had the tv on then, and didn't know about it until the next day. Same first thought as most other people - not another one!

On 9-11? At the laundry. Two women told me that a plane had crashed into the WTC. I thought it was like when a small plane crashed into the Empire State years ago - people hurt and killed, but an accident. Went home, turned on the news just in time to catch the towers falling, and was in sleepless shock.

When the Berlin Wall fell? In school. I didn't fully comprehend what it meant, other than a great symbolic gesture by the people of Germany.

When Challanger exploded on take off? In high school. We were told about it when we dismissed for lunch. For some reason, I got the impression that my teacher wasn't that upset/impressed. When I headed for my flute lesson after school, and that teacher reacted with shock and sorrow (she hadn't heard), that's when it really hit me.

When you hear Elvis was dead? I was five years old, driving with my mother in the county seat, past a train yard (Yes, I remember that well!), when I heard it on the radio.

When Armstrong took a giant leap for us all? Not even a twinkle in daddy's eye yet.

When the last america chopper left Saigon? Too young to remember, but I'm glad my dad was already home after two tours!

  3. I do not enjoy bananas, and I've never had sushi (can't stand the thought of it - poor North American :wow: ), but the food I get the gag reflex for is cooked beets. I love pickled beets, but any other way, and they start coming back out before they truly get down.

  4. I also have Seasons 1-6 on DVD, and I also will watch them on TV whenever I get the chance. It's been too long...maybe we'll pick up some more fans!

I want them to start running Voyager. I've only seen about a season and a half, and don't think I'll buy the sets - but I would watch them when they were on!

  5. I'm not a Lion King fan, either, so I can't answer your question. It was hyped at the time as the first original Disney movie, but had those ad people READ Hamlet? And Shakespeare isn't known for his original plots, either...

Some of the music is infectious, and since I like sentimentalism in movies, a couple of places teared me up. I may watch it again sometime when my nieces get old enough to watch movies, but I'll never rent or own it.

  6. I just want to clarify - depression and being depressed are two different things. I don't know which you're talking about, RK.

As to being happy, I'm a basically optimistic person. Add to that my faith and the fact that I have one of the world's best families, and the world's best friends, what happens during the day is blunted. Now, besides that, Star Trek is my escape, like so many others have said. I've survived a lot because I let myself get caught up in a story where, no matter how bad problems are, the human race survives and people grow.

When I came to this board to visit for a few days, I half-way expected it to be like ST.com or the board that I came from, where you could be attacked without provocation and you really had to be careful who you talked to and what you talked about. There are a few people here I don't agree with, but on the open boards, for the most part, things have been relatively peaceful. Thank you, VBG and mods!

  7. I enjoy both peas and sweet corn mixed with mashed potatoes.

When I was in college, the dining common made the best buttery yeast rolls for Sunday dinner. They also made their own ice cream. The best treat in the world was putting the ice cream IN the warm rolls and eating it that way...yum!

I'm a sucker for sweetened carob chips, too. I enjoy them more than chocolate chips! And I make the Liptons chicken and broccoli rice and mix sweet and sour sauce in with it. (Kraft's S&S sauce is the best!)

  8. Susan Sarandon with Tim Curry in "RHPS"

Tim Curry with Charlie Sheen in "The Three Musketeers"

Charlie Sheen with Martin Sheen in "Hot Shots" (Or "Part Deux," I don't remember)

Martin Sheen with Robert Picardo in last night's episode of "The West Wing"

(What were the two steps to the Bogey one, TUH?)

    Mandy Patinkin

  9. I have one brother who is seven years older than the other. The older one would taunt and bait the younger one, and when the younger one defended himself in any way, shape, or form, "innocent" big brother would profess his amazement at the younger one's actions. I never saw what there was to be amazed about.

SF performed a deliberate psychological test. The test was aimed at getting a religious rise out of people, and people reacted accordingly. On this thread, he has apologized and some have refused to accept that apology. Fine. Undoubtedly, he knew that he would get reactions like he did, so he's probably not surprised. Such is life.

This has gone way overboard. The feelings are strong and immediate. Please, both sides, take a deep breath and move on.

  10. Why do anything the easy way? (Probably 'cause I don't know the two steps...lol)

Humphrey Bogart with Peter Lorre in "The Maltese Falcon"

Peter Lorre with Clint Eastwood in an episode of "Rawhide" (good ep, too)

Clint Eastwood with Andy Robinson in "Dirty Harry"

    Doris Day

  11. Yeah i work at a flower auction in holland i buy flowers for a major supermarket chain from england its easy work but very intresting,i start at 5am and finish at about 13:00pm i bid for flowers on the auction floor my job is just trying to get them a cheap as possible.

Are you serious? That sounds cool.

I have been a teacher (my favorite job) and an office manager (which I hope I will never go back to), and currently am working as an account manager for a major American credit card bank. I've only been there a little while, and I'm not sure if I'll like it or not - but I sure like having a paycheck again...

  12. Hey, I watch "Goldeneye" just to see Brosnan and Bean on the same screen. I love watching PB, ever since his Remington Steele days, and I, for one, think he's far better-looking, and a much better actor now. I wish he'd do at least one more. (I haven't seen "DAD" yet.)

Of the people y'all have mentioned, I vote for Hugh Jackman. I like Fiennes, but I also agree he's too much a "serious" actor for Bond.

  13. I don't know the answer to your question, I only know that I love TOS books, and I wish there were more. I stopped buying them after a while, and only picked them up second-hand when I found them. Whatever happened to just a good story while they were on the original five-year mission? Everything now has to be part of a series covering all of the shows (in which case I'm not usually interested), or taking place during the movie years (not necessarily a bad thing), or during the TNG period. I want to read about TOS in their prime...

    (I wouldn't mind DS9 pre-season 7 stories, either!!!!!)
