  1. I would have to say Deep Space Nine.I know the Enterprise has a lounge and holodecks, but it would just be so much nicer to relax after work by having a few drinks at Quarks, then a game of darts with Bashir and O'Brien,or a little Dabo.Or,if you have more time and extra credits,a little holosuite action.

It would also be great seeing all the myriad species of the galaxy strolling along the promenade. That, and occasional day trips to Bajor.

  2. Depends on your series preferences, really.Myself,I have always been partial to The Original Series, and spend most of my book money on TOS paperbacks (the hard cover editions are ridiculously expensive).

The Khan/Eugenics Wars books are good,as are the Lost Years novels.I also like the Strange New Worlds books featuring stories by fans. They're great.

I'll agree with Lubak10,Uhura's Song and Spock's World are terrible.Avoid them at all costs.Especially Spock's World.

  3. I have the following:

1.The Worlds of Star Trek (TOS)

2.The Monsters of Star Trek (TOS)

    3.Mr.Scott's Guide to the Enterprise

    4.The Next Generation Technical Manual

5.The Deep Space Nine Technical Manual

6.The Next Generation Series Compendium (first 3 seasons only)

    7.The Star Trek Chronology

    8.The Star Trek Encuclopedia Vol.1,2.3

9.The Starfleet Technical Manual (original 70's edition,a bit careworn)

    10.Star Trek,Behind the Scenes (TOS)

  4. I liked Spider-Man comics as a kid.Man,I really wished I'd saved those comics.I'd be rolling in money right now!

You know,Captain Jean-Luc Picard, another thing great about Spider-Man is that he didn't always beat up the villain (sometimes he got the heck beaten out of him!),but he always managed to win in the end, usually by utilizing that gifted brain of his to come up with a plan to make the much tougher and more experienced bad guy do his own self in.That was great.

That's always more interesting than being an indestructable, nearly omnipotent super character.I mean, where's the fun in going up against that sort of guy?

  5. I can understand where a lot of people would have a hard time dealing with Deanna Troi's empathic abilities, but that wouldn't necessarily bother me.It would be nice to have a mate that was so in tune to my feelings. And she isn't a full blooded Betazoid and couldn't read my thoughts (and that is the thing I would have a problem with). And Deanna is gorgeous. But mostly, she is a very sweet,gentle-natured person, and I like that.

I'd like to be with Deanna.

  6. What's happening in the Gamma Quadrant is anybody's guess.Might be fun to have a series of novels written about the subject of the post-war Dominion, and Odo's effect on the Great Link.I'd definitely read them.

If I had to hazard a guess,I'd say that the Alpha Jem'Hadar are probably bitter and angry at losing the war,and are being ostracized by their Gamma Jem'Hadar brothers. That makes for a potentially explosive situation.Another potential problem is that the Alpha's saw a Founder hurt (by Section 31's bioweapon),and defeated (by the Federation and its allies). The Founders must have lost some of their previously "devine" aura,at least for these Jem'Hadar.

  7. Deep Space Nine "Boldly went",into the Gamma Quadrant and many other places (The Celestial Temple, time travel, the Mirror universe, etc).I'd say that writer was off his gourd. In my opinion DS9 was arguably the best of all the Star Trek series. The very fact that it was not set primarily on a starship is what made it fresh and exciting.

I've posted at a handful of other sci-fi forums and whenever DS9 comes up,I am always surprised at the numbers of people that either didn't like,or outright hated that series.I can't understand it.

  8. Have any statistics on this Antares,Subcommanderbeavis?Like length, mass, etc?

I like the design,as it fits in better with my own idea of Starfleet's TOS-era design ethic, than the Antares-class ship the Bajoran refugees were in on the TNG episode "Ensign Ro".

Thanks for sharing this design.I also hope you keep favoring us with these cool old ship designs. Its nice to see there were more than just Constitution-class ships zipping around the spacelanes in the middle 23rd-century.
