  1. I am EXHAUSTED.....

I stayed up until 6 a.m. adding links and topics and miniclip games to my site.Phew..it was more tiring than I expected.

My Star Wars site (which,in truth has evolved into more of a general sci-fi forum with Star Wars as the primary theme),is nearly ready for inspection :) It will just be a bare skeletal shadow of what I hope it to become, but I'll post the link to the site later on today.I do admit to a bit of nervousness.I'm worried none of you will like it...

    I'm just being paranoid,though. <_< Until later,Sirius out.

  2. I checked out invisionfree and with the help of my daughters I'm well on my way to making my star wars site a reality.

Thanks for all the help, everyone! And thank you trekzone, for your generous offers to help me.I feel badly that we won't work on this together. But after I started talking about my ideas,my daughters insisted on helping me with my project.

I'd like to add several topics in each forum before I post my sites address  .Everything should be in order, and tomorrow afternoon,I'll invite everyone to have a look (and maybe PM me a few suggestions or crticisms).

Again,Thank you all for your support!

    :wow:

  3. I have become tired of starwars.com and various other star wars fan sites as they have all become quite as intollerable for me as startrek.com.

StarWars.com As Bad As StarTrek.com?? Sense When?? :wow:

I wasn't referring to rude board members,or bad moderation.I was speaking about the cluttered feel of many of the topics there. Some of the threads just go on and on forever, like Bananas mentioned.By the time you've read an entire topic, you've quite forgotten what question it was you wished to ask,or what point you wanted to make. They need badly to clean house, and dump the older threads.

But,since its been mentioned,I have been rather rudely received myself there at times

A few of the regulars tend to believe that posting 10,000,000 topics or responses means that the boards belong to them exclusively. They also at times attack questions from members not as knowledgable as themselves,as if everybody should know everything there is to know about Star Wars. Some posters, like Bananas, are youngsters and shouldn't be badgered about their questions or responses.

I know a couple of the Mods there, though, and they tend to do their jobs as well as can be expected.

I think I'll spend this upcoming week forming my ideas of what exactly I want in a site and then maybe Trekzone and I can tackle the job.But first,I'd like to check on a few links VBG provided me with,as well as some links a few of you others have provided.

    :wow:

  4. If we follow your logic,TUH,then we should have to get rid of everything that anybody may be annoyed by,including the sounds of children playing (I have an elderly neighbor who hates to hear kids playing,as its "too loud",in the middle of the day).I have several cats. They have never scratched the paint off of my car,or any neighbors car.As for smoking, here in California you have a better chance of getting cancer from simply breathing the toxis soup we call air, than inhaling second-hand smoke.

The Homeland Security Act is fine, but I don't see as how it applies to American citizens renting homes or apartments.

    "Oh,my God!She has bad credit...send her to Guantanimo!She's a Taliban!"

If it bothers a person so much to rent their property out, maybe they ought not to rent,as that seems the safest course of action.Otherwise, buy insurance (Lord knows rents are so outrageously high nowadays that any variety of insurance should be affordable for the landlord or leasing company).

  5. Maybe it's becuase they don't want the rented homes, which you don't own, to smell like cigerratte smoke, have pee stains on the floor, smell like dog poo, and so forth?  It's possible ya know.

They don't want a smelly home or stains.Okay,I see your point. Then we shall have to ban all babies and children in general as well as pets.

    Balderdash.

Pets can be kept outside,as I've said already. And smokers can be made to agree to smoke out of doors, also as I've already said. This is simple discrimination, nothing more.

Mark my words,it will get worse. Before long there will be whole lists of things renters can and cannot have or do.Simply because someone is renting your house does not entitle you to lord over them, and dictate their lives for them.

    Banana's click here! :wow:

    Click for Spoiler:

I'm glad your feeling better!Good to have you back posting!

  6. I am thinking very seriously about having my own Star Wars fan site based on startrekfans.net.

I have become tired of starwars.com and various other star wars fan sites as they have all become quite as intollerable for me as startrek.com.

Of course,I haven't a clue as how to go about it...

    I'll keep you posted.

    :)

  7. Home owners concerns for their property aside,I think it is absurd that they should require so much from prospective renters.Security checks, credit reports (for everyone in the family, including the CHILDREN :) ),letters of reference, and a rental agreement with terms such as allowing snap inspections, and dictating that pets are not allowed,or no smokers (even if they smoke out of doors on the porch or in the yard....I actually saw that on a rental contract signed by my brother-in-law earlier this year!).

Even for the shabbiest of dwellings.

I do own two homes. One here in Santa Cruz, which I and my family live in,and another in Shaver Lake,California left to me by a late uncle.I don't rent the place, but if I did I'd be fine with a single credit check, and security check on the primary renter and terms such as pets must be kept out of doors (as for smoking,I could care less.I fancy the occasional pipe, myself).

The situation started me this past spring when I helped my brother-in-law relocate.I had no idea it was so difficult to rent now. When I first became engaged to my wife (we were both around 19-years old at the time),we found a beautiful little apartment for $250 a month, plus we paid our own utilities. We weren't put through anything more than a meeting with the landlord,a talk about the terms of renting the apartment, and paying our first and last months rent, plus a security deposit. We weren't forbidden from owning pets.or told not to smoke,or drink, etc.Thats the way it should be.

  8. Yes,I noticed several missing planets. Also,it just seems to me that in relation to the UFP,the Cardassian Union is far too large.Perhaps even the Romulan Star Empire.Though, the Romulans should have a larger territory thn the cardassians.

I'm thinking of making my own map of Trek space based on this map,but with fewer (knock on wood) inconsistencies.

I may not have it ready for a while,as I plan to make certain of where I place everything.I want my map to be as much in-line with established facts as possible.
