    The Rolling Stones

    Rowan Atkinson

    Patrick Stewart

    Marina Sirtis

    David Warner

Margret Thatcher (played an important role in hastening the final days of soviet

    eastern and central Europe)

    Many,many others...

    :P

  2. War and killing are barbaric regardless of the sophistication of the weapons being used.

It's not barbaric to defend your home and stop and evil enemy.

Do you think that the U.S. did in Iraq was barbaric?

I don't think he was saying that war is unjust in every circumstance, just barbaric. And it is.Killing your fellow man is not a sane or civilized behavior.Unfortunately,we do not live in altogether sane or civilized times.

Therefore, whether you kill your enemy with a nuclear weapon or an antimatter weapon, they are just as dead, and your actions just as barbaric, whether or not your cause was just.I agree with the sentiment.

  3. With all of the talk of music in this forum I thought you meant the 60's-70's singing group.  You remember the songs "Let the Sunshine In" and "Up Up and Away". ;) Of course I was REALLY REALLY young when they were popular.

;) I thought he was talking music, too! My wife loves the 5th dimension, and has all of their albums.I think I know all of their songs by heart, having to listen to them so much. :b-day:

  4. I joined.Just for the record,I'm going to take the FNHL's first Lord Stanley's Cup! ;)

:b-day: you joined the FNHL?I was just at the league site and you don't have a team there, sirius!I'm not sure what happened. You should try and register again.

When you do register your team,in the spirit of the league being the "fantasy" NHL please chose to name them after a past or present NHL franchise. So far these teams have been taken:

    Mine...Boston Bruins

    Takara Soong....Winnipeg Jets

    CaptainFreeman....San Jose Sharks

    SubCommanderBeavis....Atlanta Thrashers

    TrekkieBabe....Anaheim Mighty Ducks

    Mr.Tinkles....Los Angeles Kings

I will set the FNHL's draft status to "ready" at midnight,Monday,October,13th,2003.

    :)

No team huh? ;) Hmmm.Okay,I'll try again tonight. For the record I will be...

    Phoenix Coyotes.

  5. I remember being very excited about TNG,that first season. It had been so long since new Trek had been produced.

I loved season one (and every one that followed  )

Some of my favorite Season one episodes are...

    1.Lonely Among Us

    2.11001001

    3.The Neutral Zone

    4.When The Bough Breaks

    5.Conspiracy

There were many others that I also enjoyed, though I was and still am disappointed that we were never again treated to a story involving the alien menace from "Conspiracy".Maybe a movie will see their return someday?

  6. I missed Tasha a lot during TNG's run without her.I thought the character had tremendous potential, and felt that Gene Roddenberry gave Denise Crosby a bum deal. She wanted more on-screen time and insisted on being more than the typical Trek eye candy that all female cast members prior to her had been.Gene and the studio refused,so she left (this from an interview of Crosby done right after she left the show). So much for equality!

I find those remarks of Denise Crosby to be rather incredible. How much screen time did she expect when she signed on as a supporting member of an 8 person cast. She appeared in 23 episodes but for argument sake let's say she notified them that she was leaving after 20 episodes (enough time for Skin of Evil to be written). She had the A story line in at least one episode and was prominent in a number of others. Tasha being the security chief was hardly a role that could be considered eye candy. She certainly kicked butt on more than one occassion.

IMO, Denise Crosby left because she thought she was too good for television and wanted to be a movie star. She discovered, just like many others before her, that she should have stayed where she was.

I agree with Takara.I remember Crosby's rant from an issue of tv guide, right after she left the show.Basically, she wanted a starring role, and told Gene and the studio that if she was not a member of TNG's "Big Three"(Picard,Data,Riker),that she would quit. And when her demands were turned down, she made good her promise to leave. And I think,"Good riddance".If she had stayed on board,Worf would have never developed as well as he did,IMO,and we wouldn't have had all those great Klingon storylines in TNG and DS9  .

  7. :look: OMG,Is that a real picture?Great googly moogly....

If I were out fishing and something that big took my bait,it could have the line, rod, reel, and everything else.No way would I even attempt to land it.If that makes me a chicken,so be it.Wow,that's a huge fish.

  8. The one that stands out in my mind was "V" from the 1980's.I loved that.If I am to choose a contemporary sci-fi series, then I guess I'll pick Lexx, though I haven't watched it in quite a while.I love the characters and their interaction with one another. And,of course, there is Xenia Seeberg :look:

  9. I like Rush, and don't believe for a moment that he is in any way, shape,or form a bigot/racists.Rush Limbaugh has an unfortunate habit that many of us conservatives have, and that is speaking his mind and being opinionated. That's no crime. Its a shame that ESPN bowed under pressure and let Rush go.He has a great knowledge of the game of football, and I enjoyed his commentary during the games. In the case of McNabb,I think he was wrong.Donovan is an excellent QB and any NFL franchise would be thrilled silly to have him on their team. But,like I said.He should not have been fired.(or forced to resign)
