  1. I bought Windows Best 1000 Games for my PC....

and I can't get the damn thing to work!

I follow the instructions to the letter and nothing happens....

My oldest daughter has been promising for weeks to help her computer illiterate father with the problem, but so far she hasn't.

Perhaps a temporary freeze on her swiss bank accounts (allowance) is in order?

  2. I'll have to think about it.

My two oldest daughters will pretty much go and see the film whether I want them to or not.

As for the youngest(12),I'll probably not let her go.As I recall she wanted the video games.I rented one from Blockbuster Video to see what it was like, and I was horrified (as much by how far video game graphics have advanced in the past several years as by the content).I refused to let her buy any of the Resident Evil games, for which she sulked for days on end

The first film (which I watched one night during a fit of insomnia) wasn't that bad, really.I wasn't crazy about Milia Jovovich's nude crawl across the surgery ward floor there at the end.But that was about it.After discussing it with my wife we decided to let the youngest watch the movie whenever next it came on.A small concession that restored peace and order.

I'll have to preview the film beforehand.

  3. I am considering switching over to Comcast high-speed DSL (as I have Comcast cable television already).

The above statement left me a bit confused. Comcast DSL? You see, a high speed data via a cable modem and DSL are two different services. DSL utilizes your phone line, but due to the bandwith, you can be on the phone while using your modem. Broadband internet services via a cable modem doesn't require a phone line. Your data and video services are transmitted via your cable lines. I have heard a few drawbacks regarding DSL, but my information may be biased because I am a former Time Warner Cable employee. The speed of your DSL connection can vary depending where you live. If you live nearby a telephone switching station, your speed will be faster. The further away from the switching station, the slower the speed. Cable modems are not affected by where you live. I personally use a cable modem, and my ISP is RoadRunner, which is owned by Time Warner Cable.

Sorry, that was a misprint on my part.

I meant to say comcast high-speed internet, not DSL.

I'd like to resolve the problem I'm having with SBC,as I've had no problems with their service, until just recently. But its kind of difficult to do that when customer service transfers my call between five or six different representatives (and I always end up back with the first person I talked to),and when they refuse to accept the fact that I have documentation that clearly shows that I do not owe them a penny more than my normal monthly billing. Its been damned frustrating,to be honest.

So far I have Comcast,Earthlink, and Net Scape on a short list of possible alternatives to look into.

  4. At the moment I'm having a dispute with SBC Yahoo.(they say I owe a certain ammount, and I say that I don't.I have billing statements to support my side of the argument, but they refuse to listen to anything I have to say over the phone, firmly insisting that I pay what they say I owe by the 17th,or its quits between us)and, unfortunately it appears likely that sometime within the next two weeks my services my be terminated.

I am considering switching over to Comcast high-speed DSL (as I have Comcast cable television already).

Do any of you have any recommendations for an Internet service provider?I'm not 100-percent set on Comcast DSL at the moment. Its only an option.A friend of mine suggested Earthlink, and I'll look into it.But I'd like more options.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.(also any advice on service providers to Not consider).

    Your Friend,Sirius.

  5. I was watching the TOS episode "Where No Man Has Gone Before" with my youngest daughter early this morning, and she raised a question.

Could the Q be the members of the S.S. Valiants crew, mutated into near omnipotent beings, like Dr.Dehner and Gary Mitchell?

I told her that I rather doubted it,as the Valiant was destroyed and only one member of its crew displayed the hyper-ESP abilities apparent in Mitchell and Dehner.

But I thought I'd post the theory and see what you all thought.

  6. Well,I love TOS better than all the other series combined...

But of those series' listed,I'll vote for Deep Space Nine (though TNG is very close).

Just one question, where's the animated series? I loved that as a kid.

  7. I bought "Mission to Horatius" last year.It cost me $23.50

    (what can I say?I needed it.It was TOS,afterall)

Its not a good story,Mr.Tinkles.Not at all.The plot is lame, the pace of the story plodding, and at times directionless.

I'd advise you to not buy the book, unless of course, you are an avid collector of Trek novels like I am.I have no idea why the paperback costs so much.Though I understand that you can find copies for as little as $5 now at sites like E-bay,and overstock.com.Look around and I'm sure you'll find a cheaper version. My copy is hardcover.

I think one of my favorite performances by Mr.Carney was when he played a town drunk who happens upon Santa Claus's sack in the Twilight Zone episode "Night of The Meek".I recently saw this episode again, for the first time in years and I still love it.

On the classic television series "The Honeymooners" Art Carney played the lovable and slow-witted "Ed Norton",neighbor and best friend of Jackie Gleason's "Ralph Cramden".

May God bless you and keep you Mr.Carney.You will be missed.

  9. The thing I remember most about that episode was Chief O'Brien clipping the leader of the hunters on the chin and knocking him out in one shot!"Guys gotta glass jaw.Hmm."(or something like that)

Was Tosk the first alien through the wormhole?I could've sworn it was the Wadi, but maybe they were simply the first "official" delegation from a Gamma Quadrant government that came through?
