The one I remember the best was Shadowplay, and I did like that episode, so I will go with that one. I though it was sweet.

Well said. We must not forget their sacrifice.
My family tradition for Memorial Day is to go to the cemetary where most of my deceased family members are buried and to remember them. Some of them are war veterans, or served in the military.
-
I do think it is important to remember the sacrifices of those in the armed services.
-
I voted Archer...I do not remember who I voted as my favorite character last round.
-
Archer is my favorite character on Enterprise. His development over the three years is one of the most interesting aspects of the show.
The Archer/Trip relationship took a back seat to the Trip/T'pol thing in the third season.
I heard a lot complaints about Archer being weak and wimpy in the first two seasons. Now that he is written as a strong character, people complain about that.
I saw no evidence of his believing he was a better scientist than T'Pol, engineer than Trip, and so forth. But as captain he has to be informed about all aspects of what happens on his ship and has the final word. I think sending Trip and T'Pol and the rest of the Enterprise to handle the situation with the spheres is an example of delegating atuhority...

Well, I am glad a movie is coming. I will be glad when we get a few more details. I hope it is the Romulan war or the founding of the Federation.

I decided to watch Enterprise last night to see what all the fuss was about the ending. It was goooooood. Now I have to spend all summer getting caught up on the entire series so up till now. :) Just what I needed, a new show to get hooked on. *sigh* Why fight it? RikerChick, new Enterprise fan, reporting for duty.
Welcome to the fan club!

I voted " City on the Edge of Forever." I have made comments on it in the TOS thread.
But I have so many real favorites from this list, which is why TOS is my favorite series.
Another favorite is Balance of Terror.
Another favorite is The Conscience of the King: " My child, my child....you've left me nothing! "
And some others from that list.....

Actually, part 2 of Encounter at Farpoint.
-
Ha, ha. You get my point.

long a. You know, there are a lot of words in the English language. Do you think this kind of poll is really that interesting?

I also think it may be one reason that hardcore TNGers didn't take to the series. The beloved Cpt. Picard was being snubbed by a Commander who seemingly didn't even want to be in Starfleet anymore. The funny thing is though, that now years later they (the hardcore TNGers that disowned DS9) are getting the DVD's and falling in love.I don't know why I did not watch DS9 as faithfully as I watched other series...after the first couple of years, I would miss about five or six shows a season...it was sporadic watching. Now that I am beginning to fill in some gaps I have decided that Deep Space Nine is a good name for the series because many of the episodes are "deep." I think that is why it is being rediscovered---there is a lot to think about. And the Ferengi episodes are pretty entertaining. TOS is still my favorite series though.

To watch: figure skating and gymnastics. I voted other. I have been known to watch football, but not regularly.

I liked Ex Post Facto.

TUH, I think you made the case for including intent if you want to make an accurate judge of character. Intent leads action...Archer's morality moderated even the wrong things he did. His goal was to save humanity. He struggled not to lose his humanity as he made decisions against his personal morality and vision. He won that battle when at key times he still made choices to the benefit of other races in midst of his diffcult mission. Please feel free to discuss whether intent matters or only actions? Or whether you saw the character's intent differently?
TM, I disagree with the last piece of your statement. The new tougher Archer acted in the best interest of the human race while still caring about what happend to the other races.Reguarding the change in Archer's character, I do like the fact that some of the overbearing morality that he had has gone and he has become a tough decision maker who is acting in the best interests of his race rather than worrying about others.Click for Spoiler:
Archer actually demonstrated the least selfish behavior among the races involved in this conflict: the Vulcans, the Xindi, the Andorians, the sphere-builders, and the humans.

Hooray for Earthlink, my internet provider! Go get 'em, Earthlink!
I have no sympathy for this man. He is completely selfish, and does not even acknowledge the pain and problems for others he caused.

I saw the movie "To Hell and Back" starring Audie Murphy as himself, many years ago. It is appropriate to remember his courage on this day.

Would you believe we're (my house) still only on season 6 of our TNG DVDS and season 1 of DS9? That's right, we've one unopened season of TNG, 6 unopened seasons of DS9 and 2 unopened seasons of VOY on DVD!I only have three sets right now...seasons 4,5, & 6 of DS9, and I am watching them for a second time. I'd say I had never seen about a quarter of those episodes, so that was fun for me! I am not in a rush to buy additional sets at the moment, because they are pricey!
It's difficult because Kronos calls and says "you must moderate me, or it will get crazy in here!" :)I gotta get outta here and watch some Trek! But it's difficult. -
I voted for Rogue Planet, but I really do not have a favorite...I have several favorites that I like equally. Maybe I will be able to sort them out for real over time as I continue to rewatch them. These include, along with Rogue Planet, Vox Sola, Fallen Hero, the two episodes with the Andorians, Broken Bow, and Silent Enemy.

I liked the Emissary...when it aired and in retrospect. I remember when it aired I was so curious about what was going on, but I knew this would be something different because the focus was on a man getting past the pain of a past loss. It also had a strong family focus. In retropsect I liked it because the series took the time to develop each of the strands opened up that first day.

Adding......
9. I am not a popular teacher at my institution. I am one of those "don't take her class" teachers.
Favorite negative student comments about me that made it back to my ears:
" If there was a nuclear bomb, Professor________ would still be trying to have class!"
To a student who took two classes from me in the same semester, a friend said to him,
"No, man! Don't take TWO calsses from her! She'll drive you crazy!"
My favorite comment I made to a student worried about taking my class: The student (a Chrisitian) had struggled in another class with me the previous semester. I was teaching a required course he had to take to graduate, but I don't think he had planned to take me as an instructor again, because when he walked into the class he stopped dead in his tracks, stared
( one of those double-take type things I think). I said to him, " God gave you back to me, Mr. ____.".
That young man stops to see me every time he is back on campus ( he lives in another state and is a math teacher!
 ).
10. I love my students. They do not understand that I do, because most of them regard love as letting them do what they want to, and and they regard love as something fuzzy and friendly (and I have been know to be cranky..). I regard love as seeing they have a dream or goal, and recognizing what their current skills are, and what they have to be able to do in order to have a chance at achieving their dreams, and trying to get them there for real. I have often had the joy of my former students visiting to show me what they have accomplished. A lot of them ask me not to change what I do. But a lot of my former students have a good jobs they deserve and family life, and a good future. A lot of them make double my salary, and are not quite thirty. My oldest former freshmen are thirty or thiry one.
Favorite comment from a former student (this young man, now an engineer, used to come to my office upset about not being able to do "word problems"): " I am not afraid of any problem they bring to me to solve on the job!"
11. I draw my teaching motivation from a story I heard about Babe Ruth, one of the greatest home-run hitters of all time. I heard that Babe Ruth was also one of the all-time strike-out leaders! Then I understood that to get great results, you had to take a risk and "swing at the ball." And in doing this, sometimes you miss, big time!

I am a bona fide morning person unless I have trouble sleeping the night...I eat real breakfast, ususally some kind of cereal and fruit. ( Evidence of being a morning person...I teach at early morning during the academic year. This summer I will be daily teaching a 7am class. I have no problem with that.)
I love cornbread but in the evening with beans.
However this is a free country and you folks can eat whatever you want when you want it!

What about the time after Dukat killed Jadzia? The thing inside Dukat attacked the orb. Afterwards the all orbs on Bajor were dark, and they weren't hearing from the prophets. ( I just finished watching Tears of the Prohets, and have wait awhile to get season 7.)

Now you must all understand why for many of us, TOS is the best! This is torturous! Pick ONE!!??
I picked Mirror, Mirror. But I also love (LOVE...not like) Amok Time, The Trouble with Tribbles, A Piece of the Action, Journey to Babel, Wolf in the Fold, Bread and Circuses ("Why, you wouldn't even know what to do with a warm decent feeling...." Eyebrow raises "Really, doctor?"), The Gamesters of Triskelion ( "You Lied!"), and others!
