  1. I have one older sister and two younger brothers.

Both of my parents are only children, so there are no first cousins, but my father's father is the 19th of 20 (one father, two mothers), and my father's mother was the 8th of 16 (ditto), so I have lots of second cousins! (And I seldom see the few I know.)

  2. I'm not an emotional person when it comes to life, usually. But when it comes to movies, I'm very sentimental. I get that from my Dad - the ex-Army, metal machinist farmer. Sing a sappy song, deliver a predictably hurtful line, kill off the obvious good guy, and that's it. I tear up at almost anything like that (except the whole Bambi's-mother thing - that has never bothered me AT ALL).

On the other hand, laughing uproariously - very occasionally. Emotionally high - every time I watch "The Music Man" and the final scene. (See? There's that sentimental streak again.)

  3. Religion aside (although I agree with Jesus being the Greatest of all) -

    1. George Washington - for reasons already given and more.

    2. John Adams - generally considered the most underrated President and patriot. And his wife Abigail (Could anyone else have put up with them except each other?)

    3. Abraham Lincoln - "I now leave, with the task before me greater than that which rested upon Washington." (Farewell Address to Springfield). No matter what the revisionists say, he was a great man.

    4. Thomas Jefferson. Ditto.

    5. Ramsses II

    6. John Dickenson/Robert E. Lee/Edward Rutledge and others for daring to put aside their personal feelings and arguing/fighting for something they disagreed with.

    7. George Washington Carver

The list goes on and on; I have to stop...

  4. Wow, what a question! It depends on the person, of course. But...hm...in no particular order -

    "The Wire"

    "Distant Voices"

    "Starship Down"

    "The Ship"

    "Our Man Bashir"

    "The Seige of AR-558"

"In Purgatory's Shadow"/"Inferno's Light" (These are the two POW ones, right? It's late; I'm doubting myself....)

These leaves out some of my favorites, and doesn't include much of the later ones, but if I can hook them, they'll watch the others later with me!!

I'M GETTING SEASON FOUR IN THE MAIL THIS WEEKEND!!!!!!!! WAHOO!!!!

  5. I guess I'm different in the fact that I AM offended by some of the things on television now. Besides the "off" button and the station changer, I also have my VCR and DVD players.

  6. 1) Try to get well from the heart attack I had when hearing the news.

    2) Consult with experts as to what they suggest (lawyer, accountant, etc.) for various investments or how to maximize this windfall.

    3) Give money to each immediate relative. I want my family to be comfortable and financially okay.

    4) Give money to my church.

    5) Pay off my debts.

    6) Give money to a couple of organizations I have attachments to. Breast Cancer Society, March of Dimes, etc.

    7) Put some of it so far away that you'd have to blast to buy a newspaper! I want to be comfortable, too.

    8) I'm already working on this one, but last and NOT least is QUIT MY JOB!

These are in no particular order. :dude:

  7. I thoroughly and completely agree with you, VBG! I would watch anything that was behind the scenes! I watch non-ST shows just because a favored guest actor is on it. I flip when I catch an unexpected glimpse of someone on another show. (Marc Alaimo made "I Love the 70's - 1976" twice - a whole quarter of a second maybe. Saw it last night. Made my evening. :spock: )

I would really enjoy a purely DS9 blooper reel. More cast interviews. Guest star interviews. Anything!

  8. It's a TNG film, no doubt about it. They had it billed in some of the pre-movie talk as the great mingling of casts, but it didn't turn out that way. In some ways, it would have been just as effective if they'd just had Kirk and left the others out of it. Don't think it would have bothered Shatner...

I think it's funny, though - two of Shatner's biggest critics from the original cast were the only other TOS people in the movie - that must've been comfortable.

  9. My favorites are warring in my head with the best. I have never been a fan of "City," so taking it out of the running was no problem for me.

**I think "The Empath" shows the triumverate at their vulnerable best - each are more than willing to die for the others.

**"Day of the Dove" showed up the weaknesses in their relationships, which they work constantly at trying to overcome.

**I'm kind of surprised no one mentioned "The Tholian Web." Great interplay between Spock and McCoy!

**"Tribbles", for me, wars with "I, Mudd" for pure comedy relief.

**"Amok Time" purely for the last five minutes, starting with T'Pau's goodbye to Spock and his reply (already quoted).

There are so many - those are the ones I can think of after only four hours of sleep.

  10. I've had this email several times. According to sources, and verified by Pepsi, it's not true. Check out Scopes.com. It all started with a Dr. Pepper can that said "one nation...indivisible." The story has been attributed to Coke as well, but it seems as if Pepsi is taking the brunt of it.

The Dr. Pepper story was on the news, and they've issued statements about their intentions. Corporate lies or truth aside, the can was yanked from the shelves ages ago.

  11. ...isn't a regular cast member in every single episode?..A lot of the times Uhura, Sulu and Chekov didn't have a lot to do but they were in every episode..Even it's only in the background on the bridge.

Nope. Even the regs had time off. G. Takei, for example, was supposed to be in "Gamesters of Triskelion" and a couple of other eps, but his part(s) was/were given to Walter K. because Mr. Takei was elsewhere.

As to Christine - I suppose she's a recurring guest star - more than an extra, not quite a regular. She'll always be one of "the cast" to me, though.

  12. My sister has the exact name as her sister-in-law, and they live in the same town. They are confused constantly at doctor's offices, the hospital, the post office, the pharmacy, which ticks off my sis. Her sis-in-law goes by her first name, and my sis goes by her middle (which she's done her entire life, as she's named for our mother), so family gatherings aren't difficult. But, of course, this could be very dangerous! (especially at the pharmacy, etc.) She's switched doctors and so forth, but the other woman is a nurse, so everyone in the medical community knows her and confuses their names anyway.

Another point with names - I had a student once whose full Christian name was Katy Jane. It was cute when she was six, but it's not cute anymore. I had another one who was William Robert - he turned into Billy Bob against his will. I know a kid named for Superman (Not Clark. Kal-El), a Bill Bailey (music, anyone?), a Chris Columbus (not the director), and other similar names. I used to teach elementary school - teasing is a part of growing up, but why give them more ammunition?

  13. My brother, only half-jokingly, says that that was the saddest day in history.

Seriously, it was one of the saddest days in entertainment history. I remember where I was - six years old, driving with my mother a couple of towns away from home, passing the railroad tracks, when it came on the radio. I can still point to the approximate place in the road where we were.

The King will always live on - and he'll always be the King!

  14. From the wording of your second post, Armada, it sounds as if we can't be "real" Trek fans if we like SW. Or, God forbid, if we like that smilie. I admit, I was a little surprised the first time I saw it, but not offended at all. I think it's hilarious.

As to watching SW on "Enterprise," I think I'd tune it just to see that scene! Or even one of the other great sci-fi predecessors...

  15. There is a book about the Rules Of Acquisition. Very small, and the last time I saw it, more $$ than I had. Haven't seen it in a while.

There are 285 Rules according to Pel in "Rules of Acquisition." Although, taking a hint from what happens to Zek when he meets the Prophets, Zek may pen a few more! Even Rom might - GASP.
