Typical, typical Me - I would spend as much time as I could with various members of my family. When not with them, I'd email or call as many friends as I could get a hold of, just to tell them I love them one more time. (Actually, that might kill some of 'em - it would be the first time!)
Friends and family - that's the way to go. Oh! And I'd eat everything I wanted - who cares about calories at your last meal??

I agree with you, TUH. The holidays ARE very difficult. I try to keep myself enormously busy, which isn't difficult (work, public speaking, and crafts for Christmas help). It's not the times that I'm out and busy that are hard - it's the times before and after family gatherings (there are four Christmas week alone) that are the worst. Watching everyone leave in pairs, then driving almost an hour home in the dark to an empty, dark house -- that's the hardest part for me.
Lessa, I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. My sincerest sympathies.

I remember standing in the living room of our "vacation" house, which is the house I live in now, watching my sister and brother channel flip. There were all of four channels here then, and that day, it was "that space show" or nothing. I seem to remember it was The Savage Curtain. The next day, we were still here, and there was still nothing on, so we watched "that Spock thing" again. (Notice the progress we made in a day! ) We went home the next day, but I was hooked. 4:00 every afternoon. Pre-VCR, so we watched it then or never! In reference to another thread, I had a couple on audio tape, as well.

My favorite religious song is "O Little Town of Bethlehem." Actually, "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day" is my favorite, but most people don't consider that one of the religious carols.
My favorite secular Christmas song is "Carol of the Bells." Favorite version is by Johnny Mathis.

LOL! Maybe someone will go over and liberate those poor humans...
VBG, watch your back!

WOW VBG! That's all I have to say about that one. :(
Thanksgiving has always been a huge family event, thanks to my paternal grandmother, who is now gone. When I was in college (where the dining common wasn't anywhere NEAR what VBG had...lol), I spent all Thanksgiving, usually, in my dorm room. Dinner didn't excite me, but I was required to go.
My most interesting Thanksgiving dinner was while I was in college. My junior year, a roomie from my freshman year lived across the street, and she invited me and our other roomie over for dinner. She and her husband had recorded the parades for me, and as I didn't have a tv, it was great to see moving pictures again! She'd never cooked a turkey before, and the inside was pink, but we ate anyway, and never said a thing.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!

I love it, VBG! That's great!

Pretty much any music from the turn of the century until 1970. I should enjoy music from my time, eh? Even after that, I enjoy some country, some disco (I'll duck whatever you throw at me!), some pop, some rock, single songs from more modern bands, etc.
I add my $.02 worth and pay you later. Insert trapped on a deserted island cliche - Crosby, Clooney, Garland, Fitzgerald, Jolson, the Mills Brothers, and the other classics. WWII era especially.

I enjoy this episode, and even more after hearing Rene A. talk about how much he enjoyed it. The scenery is spectacular when they're in the mountains.
After years of sharing a room with my sister, I think the portrayal of Jake and Nog clashing is VERY believable. And both of them are such jerks to each other! Pique, anyone?

I'm in Maine, and we've had snow in the air, but nothing that stuck. I don't mind the snow - I hate ice!
I would LOVE to be snowed in and work from home. I'm such a hermit sometimes...

I am going to the earliest matinee in the area, opening day. At current count, I have seen FOTR 24 times, and TT 12. I watched all four DVD's of TT extended today. The only thing left to see are the various commentaries. 11 hours of just TT. I am currently Tolkien'ed out - but I'll recover soon!

My friend Joe's parents complained that they didn't like his ponytail (neither did I, but it was his head), so finally he shaved all of his head - right to the skin - and left only about a four inch square at the base of his skull, which he kept in the hated ponytail.
Mind you, he was 32 years old at the time. NOT a kid. 'Course, he had no job at the time, either. Joe work? Two words that seldom go together...

Peter is on this tour - only Ace isn't. And KISS opens (one of the quoted reasons Ace didn't want to do it - among others).
Egos? Rock stars? You must be joking! :)

Cheer at least once for Pete for me, will ya?

I was an A-B kid, too.

Actually, Pride of the Yankees IS out on DVD. I'm hoping to get it for Christmas.
What? No one likes The Babe Ruth Story?

I really really enjoyed this episode. I could almost see Lloyd Bridges and Gary Cooper duking it out.
Click for Spoiler:
As for Reed shooting T'Pol - that was great!!AND

I guess the next-week scenes answer at least partial wonderings about Trip and T'Pol, eh? This is the first time I've watched the upcoming scenes and said "I HAVE to watch that!" -
Whoops - didn't see this before I posted. If any of the mods merge these threads, I understand!
Also looking for ISP advice...

I have to change my ISP ASAP. I live in a relatively rural area where opportunities are very limited. Does anyone know anything about Earthlink, good and bad?
My biggest problem is going back from cable to dial-up again.

I've got a great view standing right in front of my front door. Unfortunately, I'm fighting with a street light, that usually works only when it feels like it, and it feels like it tonight! :o

That Cenotaph is majestic. I love the inscription - nothing grandiose, nothing flowery. Just a simple statement of fact.

Vulcans.
Gagh or chilled Slugs?

I know I've mentioned this before, but I know of a kid (well, he's in his late teens) whose name is Kal-El; Superman's Kryptonian name. His father is an artist for the Superman comic books.
Other than that, I love the name "Kestra". No non-Trekkie would ever know where it came from, but I imagine you get lots of questions! I like "Jadzia," too. "Julian," "Deanna," and others of the more common (but not too common) names are more my line. I have personal issues that are non-Trek related about some of the other names, and would never even consider them.
