Has a storyline or scene in Star Trek brought back painful memories for you? This may be a difficult thread so dont respond if you dont want to.
For me it was the Xindi attack on earth. Here in Northern Ireland, I went to school in a town called Omagh for 7 years. A bomb went off there in 1998 and killed 29 people, including a pregnant woman and an eighteen month year old baby.

When you see such carnage, especially of those so innocent, your heart can not help but go out to the families who have been made to suffer. I know that September 11th was much much larger in scale. And it hit me hard as well. But this event occurred in a street which i had walked down millions of times, in a localised community. And so was far closer.

I would go back into the past and take with me the knowledge of what football teams would win, what horses would win the Kentucky Derby or the Preakness,I would invest in Microsoft before there is a Microsoft. Then I would live comfortably the rest of my days a very rich man! :PThis is exactly what I was talking about. You would not only change your future, but countless others by this action.
When it comes to traveling to the past, I would be too afraid of messing up the timelime. One wrong move, even as just an observer, and you can change history. Also the temptation to take info from the present to the past to change your future, or the world's, would be too great. What if u went back in time and offered to make a small time talentless nerd called Bill Gtaes the richest man in the world by giving him all the plans to Microsoft. On the condition that u would be the real power behind the face...

Do you remeber what happened with Homer Simpson and his time travelling toaster....

In the Motion Picture novelization, a foot note refers to a rumour that had been going about Star Fleet that Kirk and Spock ere actually lovers. This being the future and all that, of course, neither were offended and Kirk was reported to have stated that he prferred sexual gratification from women. A bit off track but I thought that it was very amusing! Mrs James T Spock!!!!

We've had the all American stud
The bald gentleman
The black man
And the woman
Why no married captains? Would that not put a twist on his character? Each episode could have ended with him reporting home to his wife.

I loved this episode Year of HELL. I thought Year of HELL should have been develped into Voyager as a series. What I mean is, I always thought Voyager was too cheery and idillic. Perfect carpets. Champagne gatherings. Holodeck holidays. In Year of HELL we saw trauma. Hardship. A battered ship. A desperate crew. An evil insane villan. All the makings of a great multi episode arc. A blind Tuvok! Fantastic. No. Year of HELL was great.

Year of Heck?Hell is a very naughty word!

A Matter of Time.
I tried to paste in a summary of this with the spoiler function but the spoiler button wouldn't work so i've had to leave it out.
I watched this episode last night, and noticed that Rasmussen said that he was a from the 22nd century. I was wondering if Enterprise could do an episode with the 26th century time travellers and show how he stole the time shuttle before going to the Enterprise D in this episode? Sort of like a prequal episode? Voyager did a tie in with the Ferengi who went down the wormhole on TNG, so this would be a clever tie in as well. Rasmussen did say that he had been on 'another' 22nd century Star Ship ....

Or maybe it's just the lighting....
The DS9 uniforms looked a lot 'bluer' than the Voyager ones. And the coloured band across the shoulders was efinitely higher. Especially Worf's. Though I think that was to make him look bigger.

Thew E does have a ten forward. It was mentioned/featured in Nemesis.

Well, the Borg just wouldn't fit in to the story. The Borg wouldn't be interrested in the Bajorrans and I doubt the Cardassians, thus the Borg wouldn't be anywhere near DS9. However, we did get to see the Defiant fight the Cube in ST:FC, so that was pretty cool. I wish the scene was longer though.Anywho, while there were a lot of Seven-centerred episodes, the Borg were only featured in about 12 episodes, so I don't think they got overused. Each episode was quite unique in how the Borg were utilized, it wasn't just another "Voyager runs into the Borg" story.
As far as the Borg assimilating changlings? They couldn't assimilate Data, so perhaps they can't assimilate Odo? My theory as to why they couldn't assimilate Data is that if they tried, his nueral net might fail, and they didn't want to risk that since they needed the Enterprise computer decryption codes.
If DS9 were still on, the only way I could see the Borg showing up would be if they tried to assimilate the Dominion and Sisko was orderred to lead a fleet with the Defiant and stop them from becomming all powerful.
1. Why would the Borg not fit in? I can see no reason why they wouldnt have.
2. Why would the Borg not be interested in the Bajorans or the Cardassians? I mean, they'll assimilate pretty much anything and those races have technology hat the Borg could use
3. I said they were being used 'so much' on Voyager. I never said 'over used'. My point being, they belonged to that programme.
4. Data couldnt be assimilated as he has no bilogical parts. Simple as that. The Borg actually did try to re-verse assimilate him, as it were, by adding biological parts to his artificial body.
5. Stop who from becoming all powerful? The Borg? The Dominion? I dont think the Federation would get involved in a Borg Domion dispute.
1. Well, the story of DS9 just didn't seem like the Borg would fit in, becuase they had the Dominion to deal with and all. It's just my opinion though.
2. Seven said the Kazon were too "primitive" to be assimilated by the Borg, so they might see the Bajorrans in the same light. As for the Cardassians? Doesn't the Federation, Klingon Empire, and Romulan Empire offer far more to the Borg in terms of technology and all?
3. Ah, when I saw "so much", I was thinking "too much". My mistake.
4. The Enterprise has no biological parts, and they assimilate the ship. Seven was able to partially assimilated Voyager too. We've also see Holo-Doc's mobile emitter assimalated after a trasporter accident. We even saw direct assimilated of NX-01 Enterprise technology, simply from a drone infecting it with nanaprobes. So, with this said, there's no reason they couldn't assimilate Data, except for my theory, which is that they'd probably crash his nueral net in the process, thus loosing the very info they were after.
5. Stop the Borg from becoming all powerful. If the Borg successfully assimilated the Dominion, there'd be nothing to stop them from going after the Federation next. This is why the Federation would have Starfleet get involved.
Im not going to go into a big dragged out debate ion this, BUT:
As I originally said, DS9 had it's own tone and the Borg would have ruined that in a great dose, but the odd appearance would have been interesting, and we cant deny that!
The Kazon had no technology of their own. That was why THEY were too primitive. They stole from the Trabe after being enslaved and barely knew how to fly their ships. And the majority of them lived in little camps. The Bajorans were in space when we had our first sailing ships. The Cardassians are very well advanced! And as for the Borg going for a jucier target.... they dont do that! They take whatever is in their path.
Do you think the Borg cared about Data's neural net? Im sure their trechnology would have rebuilt it/compensated for it, blah blah...
I dont personally think that the Borg would have grown all that significantly with the addition of the Dminion. How big is the Borg? How old is it? It's flippin huge!

I actually dont like it. Ive seen quite a bit of it because it is on here (Ireland/UK) every day from 6 - 7pm between Voyager and the Simpsons. It is usually the time I tidy up and cook my dinner etc for the evening. But I keep an eye on it.

I watched a documentary about the disaster. The blame was put on the fact that:
1. the shuttle was put on the side of the rocket and so when bits of the top of the rocket fell off, they hit the shuttle and damaged it.
2. The pay load area on the shuttle was large and so when the shuttle re-entered the earth's atmosphere it had to go down at a shallower angle, exposing the shuttle to extra time of heat.
3. The shuttle used heat absorbing tiles, stuck on the underside, to absorb re-entry heat. These were literally glued on and could fall off on launch creating exposed areas.
They proposed that the next shuttle have:
1. A smaller payload bay so the shuttle would be smaller and could re-enter the earth's atmosphere at a steeper angle and therefore be exposed to the atmosphere for less time.
2. Putting the shuttle at the tip of the rocket so falling debris would be no-where near it.
3. A better heat absorbtion system, rather than silly tiles.

I think Star Gate sucks. It looks low budet and the acting is predictable and cheesey. Most weeks it is the 4 of them, going through a big hoop and saving an entire planet of six people from some sort of tyranny. In a forest! McGyver and the big black poe faced one with the dish on his head are by far the worst. Star Trek had a bigger more complex universe. Politics, conflicts and variety. It is by far superior and i cant bring myself to compare it to the Egyptian based non sense.

Are you glad the Borg stayed out of DS9?
I am! Because they were being used so much in Voyager. And also because it gave DS9 it's own style. The Dominion were enough as an enemy.
Though it makes me ask the question, as a side note: how would the Dominion have fared vs the Borg?
Could they have assimilated a changling?
What about the addiction to Ketracel White?

If you watch Wrath of Khan, you may notice that he wears a necklace made from a broken Star Fleet badge: a movie era badge! How can this be so if he was exiled during the Original Series when they didnt have such badges, and only the Enterprise had the 'arrow' synbol?

If your best mate for years was also your chief engineer, could YOU send him up a burning turbo shaft full of radiation, to save the ship?
As a side thought. Is the job of Captain the safest on board a ship because you are not expendable like anyone else?

I dont know. She kinda bugged me. I dont like the 'know it all kind'. I was hopin she was flung through one of those big windows at the front of the saucer and then landed on a spikey branch or something.Have you ever wondered if her hat was actually a big escape pod she could climb into in case of emergency?
OMG!
B)
As for her being a "know it all", remember, her character's like 500 years old. B)
Remember, wisdom doesn't come from age.
Yeah Look at Shatner, for example....

First of all... a 'rouge' Borg cube? Is like a big red one or something? LOL Or a 'rogue' Borg cube.
Well. I would be sad firstly for all my ship mates who had died. But I wouldnt feel too sad for myself beacause you've seen Voyager. I van be restored to my former handsome self! Hopefully, my Star Fleet training would help me to stay calm. And the knowledge I would have gained from assimilation would have been emense (how come Torres, Tuvok and Janeway didnt have this info after assimilation?).
I would, if the ship was unstable, jetison myself out into space. Because, i'm a Borg now and would be able to survive. Maybe launch myself in a torpedo to the nearest Star Base a la K'Elleher.
Imagine arriving at a Star Base all Borified. Hello all... Arrrggghhhhhhh!!!! B)

Remember "Elementary Dear Data"? Pulaski sits and eats lots of crumpets? Well. When she leaves the holodeck, do they disappear out of her tummy B) ?
What I mean is, is the food on the holodeck holographic or replicated? I would chose to believe replicated.
But then, wouldnt that make replicator rationing on Voyager silly, since the holodecks were never off on the flippin ship?
And, if the food is holographic then could you go into the holodeck and binge eat, and then walk out the same size as when you went in? Bolemic program 3 please....

I think we all have to remember that even if putting chips in our heads sounds freaky to us, think 300 years down the line. I mean. Cound you try explaning the internet to Queen Elizabeth? She might try to burn you as a witch!!!
We are backward compared to our future relations. What I have talked about, could very well come true...

I think it's a bit like looking at a human pirate ship and then judging humans as a whole by their standards. Krudge was a bit of a renegade. Though he did have representation in the trial of Kirk, but that was probably just because the Klingons loved to have something to throw at the Federation and also wanted an excuse to get back at Kirk. Chang was, in his own words, a warrior. And above all loved the thrill of engaging Kirk (another 'warrior') in battle. He was a traitor to his government though surely would have excelled in the new order that may have replaced Gorkon.
