In the original Halloween, we barely see Michael Myers. He is elusive. There one moment and then gone the next. We can see him out of the corner of our eye. A ghost that's mostly out of sight. But we FEEL him. THAT is the scary part. He's always there. In Haloween H2O, he's this gimp in a mask. In most scenes, up close and just stupid looking. Even old Jamie Lee isn't scared of him. SHE stalks him for heaven's sakes.
The Borg had this scary elusive quality on TNG. Even the Gothic style music when they appeared on the viewscreen at the end of Best of Both Worlds sent a shiver down your spine. The mystery. The fear that was this unknown unstoppable force was phenomenal. However. Voyager made them into the new Klingons. Even worse, we had Borg this. Borg that. A whole new villan could have served that purpose. The Borg were called in with their great reputation to save the flagging series. Now come on, we know that that is the truth. They were stripped, humiliated and left like rejects in a sequal. And the way they ended was just a testimony to the destruction that Voyager had on the most evil race in the galaxy.
I quote myself on previous posts - Borg Queen (waving fingernails in air and hising) "Jannnnnnewaaaaayyyyy"

From production terms: the original Excelsior model was used over and over again in The Next Generation as different Excelsior class ships. For budget purposes and because of the ship seen on the wall of the ready room in TNG the Enterprise B had to be Excelsior class. The scene where the Nexus hits the hull of the ship and takes a big lump out of it required some damage to be incurred to the Excelsior model. The production crew didnt want this to hapen and so they built a big lump onto the base of the model. That way, it would be this lump that was smashed and not the actual model underneath. Subsequent episodes of DS9 used this new 'lump' added model because it made it look like later versions of the Excelsior class had this modification. And also, because the lump was there so they may as well have used it (those episodes of DS9 filmed after Generations)

I had alway thought that ir had been a season ender until i watched it again on re-runs. Very good episode. Was Sela in Redemption? Or was that ust a suggestion from the shadows?

Had Patrick Stewart grown tired of the franchise, wiould Locutus of Borg been a great on going villan in theseries? Making part of the Enterprise D's mission not only to explore, but to try and get Picard back?

Does ST-2 cound as a cliff hanger? It felt like an ending to me "hinting" at a direct sequal. I just didn't get the "To Be Continued..." feel from the ending.Of all the people to argue that 'Wrath of Khan wasn't a cliffhanger' I knew it would be you. Well. Remember. If you weren't around to see The Best of Both Worlds at the time then you definitely wouldnt have been around to have seen Wrath of Khan at THAT time and so are not really in a position to judge whether or not AT THAT TIME it felt like a cliffhanger or not. Also, i said that i didnt have room for ALL the cliffhangers. I just picked, what I felt, were the top ten.

That was my poll lol It was Crusher i believe!

Now I know that there will be that awkward element of you who will winge cause i've left out 'Times Arrow' and 'Basics' and so forth. But remember. Only the top ten is allowed in a poll and these were them, for me. So vote away... K

Those outfits were called skants and were designed to show how there was no differentiation between men and women's clothing in the future. The sort of 'anything goes' rule that the future man would accept.

An old friend of mine was full of silly things likethis. And they always made me laugh.
Why is Bob the Turtle, not a turtle?
What would you do if you saw a pink horse?
Or a blue Giraffe?
Do you know the groovy hoover song?
Oh yeah, lots more of those....

I watched a very interesting chat show last night where they had a pair of twins. One could feel what the other was feling in different rooms. They hooked one up to a polygraph and made the other touch ice and stuff in a different room and be surprised by things. And the other reacted every time! Scientific and true.
How you could construe all of this as being demonic and satanic is pure drivel. In that case is Lwaxana Troi a devil worshipper? Was Illea a deciple od Satan. Hmff. Nonsense. I know that we all have our beliefs, and i am respectful of most. But i KNOW that some are just downright silly. Shall we descend to the depths of the Salan Witch Hunts again.....
As i stated, no one knows anything, and everything is possible.

I probably would have ended up in the brig for trying to incite mutiny.Janeway,in my opinion, turned down so many good chances to get home for personal reasons.Like the Q2 incident. She placed 1 being's rights above the desires of her entire crew to get home to their loved ones. There's just no way the good of the one takes precedence over the good of the many. There are other examples, too.I definitely would have tried to make changes, and would have in all likelihood been killed or arrested or abandoned on a class-m world somewhere. :unsure:But had they got home at the sacrifice of another then they would not have been able to enjoy the rest of their time on earth, knowing what they had done and unable to correct it. It's like you'd rather be a poor man that who could sleep at night than a rich man who couldnt! Anyway, by adhering to a good set of principals you can never go wrong. In exceptional circumstances you may lose out. But over all, you are a winner.

I don't think they said exactly, but it doesn't seem like it took very long. She was up to college level by the time Nomad self-destructed. I think McCoy commented that she would be ready for duty within a few weeks. That's a bit mad!

I was watching a later episode of The New Adventures of Superman last night. It revolved around Lois and Clark having a marital dispute and some guy trying to kill superman with a cannon thing. Basically, it sucked! The storyline was weak and there was a lack of action.
Smallville, on the other hand, is excellant. Relying on good characters, strong scripts, less of an over reliance on 'sci-fi' and beautiful cinematography. There is also, mystery, intrigue, and the Luthors are brilliant. Lex is less the evil guy and more of a struggling person trying to be good but inevitably hurting others. I look forward to it's return.
The movies are interesting. They have more of a nostalgic value for me. Christmases past and bank holidays. They are of course, heavily flawed, and one must see past this in their enjoyments.
Superboy was never something I got into. Too young I suppose.
I look forward to the new film and hope that t will be a winner.
Your thoughts, if any?

After Nomad erased Uhura's memory, how long did it take her to re-trained back to the level of a Leutenant????

Well Captain. No one knows everything and it is important to keep and open mind. One day in the future we could have telekinetic abilities. I wouldn't rule it out. You are a ferverant proposer of time travel and it doesnt currently exist. How can you have such an open mind about something like that but not in something more simple like our sensory abilities developing further? I will leave it up to future science to lead the way
I think, like the oceans, the human mind is a vastly unknown space. It may be small on the outside, but when you consider all it can do and how complex it is, it would be arrogance to assume that we know all there is to know about it.
And to return to my original question, what i meant was: how come Star Trek, as a science fiction medioum, chose not to use telepathic abilities amongst humans? I KNOW that they don't exist now, but in the Star Trek Universe, anything is possible....
-
Why didnt future Borg go back in time and give themselves really advanced technology?
-
Why no human telepaths in Star Trek?
-
Yea just silly....
-
But might i just say. In a thousand years time, our technology will be ancient. Like cross bows are to us. Viruses and stuff may no longer exist. We cannot fanthom the technologies of the future. We are incapable....

What would you do?

I wonder if she was promoted because of the enhancements she brought back aboard Voyager(made possible by the time-hopping future Janeway). In the spirit of the temporal prime directive none of these enhancements should have been permitted to survive Voyagers return home. They should have been destroyed like the Tox Uthat on Risa(TNG).But we know that they probably weren't.Heck,I wouldn't get rid of them!Besides,Its nice to have an admiral who doesn't look like she's late for her bingo game at the senior's center.Yeah it's like all the roles of Admiral were written for Jessiaca Tandy...
