  1. The Bajorans prayed to the Prophets to give the Cardassians greasy hair and big spoons in the middle of their heads. The Prophets granted their prayers and decided to suck the Cardassians' fabulous tans off as well. The Cardassians released a wrinkly nose virus into the Bajorans' air supply. The Bajorans were not pleased...

  2. In a small way, haven't they changed the timeline anyway? For instance the crew of Entrprise have nice streamlined little communicators while TOS had large clunky ones in comparison.

Despite that, Ent should in no way be allowed anywhere near a holodeck. Instead maybe they should have a primitive prototype, like Captin Branson's on the USS Equinox.

You should never equate technology with design: they are totally different. Yes the communicators and tri-corders on TOS were chunkier. But maybe that was due to design rather than technology. The large jewelled butons, the garish colours. That was the ''look'' of the TOS era. The technology behind it was a lot more advanced though.

Nowadays, chrome and wood stereos are back in fashion, after having been fazed out in the 90s with matt black versions. Now the black stereos look out dated and chrome televisions with big knobs and buttons are back in fashion. Even DVD players have a retro look that harkens back to the late 70s.

In relation to the holodeck idea, I say no. I can see how it could take 100s of years to develop something so advanced. I think it is important to remember that Enterprise isnt all that far in the future wen you think about it.

  3. TOS films were made at a time when Star Trek was thin on the ground. They have their own sense of identity and style and the TOS crew have a cult status and raport that is not as well reflected, I feel, in the TNG crew's relationship. The sound tracks, the look, the overall storylines are much better. Especially with the trilogy that started with Wrath and ended with The Voyage Home. The TNG movies just look like big television specials to me. Carryinmg on themes that have been explored to the point of exhaustion on the small screen and playing about too much with snazzy computer graphics.

  4. Probably.  TNG & EMH doctors, then TNG & VOY captains.  My question is, how come none of the DS9 characters made a cameo?  ST:FC was the perfect chance for a DS9 character to join Worf and the TNG crew for a movie. :)

It would have confused the public and stretched the already limited lines that were available to the tng characters. Two doctors is a little surplus to requirements. Also i'm sure the DS9 'add-on' would have pushed up the budget for making the film. Film makers have to be realsitic and cannot pander to the whims of fans. They have to reach a balance between what looks good and what is feasible.

  5. Along with my petition for a DS9 mini-series and VOY tv movies, I'll have Stargate SG-1 and Everwood to fall back on, and maybe even a series of SG-1 movies! :)

    SG-1 sucks.

'Let's go through a big hoop and explore the forest on the other side. Oh look. People who think we're gods. Let's save their entire planet from behind this tree.''

Besides there already has been a movie. It should have ended there.

A little advice: don't make fun of stuff people like, you don't make friends that way. heh

Besides, I think the show rocks. If you cared to look at it more intelligently... The "big hoop" is the Stargate, a metallic ring made of an alien element that creates artificial wormholes, similar to the one from ST:DS9. As for the planets allways looking like Earth? Teal'c, one of the characters, explains that the worlds are terraformed for human life. The people who think they're gods don't think they are, they simply borrow the cultures and religions of ancient Earth to enslave uneducated humans. Anywho, hope this helps understand the series. :(

Well i'm not going to change my opinions to please people. If a person cant take a bit of slaggin then he or she is not worth being friends with. SG1 still sucks. Shaving your head and slappin a plate on your forehead doesnt make you an alien.

  6. Yes, cause and effect, Prometheus.  If we had had Star Trek: Phase II, we wouldn't have had the TOS movies, which means we might not have had TNG at all, and there's no way to tell how things would have unfolded.  For all we know, instead of TNG, we would have had an entirely different prequal series.

Aaaah but that's all maybes! We cannot say FOR SURE that TNG wouldnt have existed after Phase 2.

  7. Well, as many of you know or refuse to accept, Star Trek: Nemesis, for all intents and purposes, is the last TNG movie.  With that said, I think many fans alike would prefer to see DS9, VOY, or a new cast for the next movie or group of movies.  Well, what happens if we don't get that "next big screen movie", eh?  I've an idea!  Why not do anual TV movies?  Think about it for a minute...  We could have 2 TV movies produced each summer for 5 years, one DS9, the other VOY!  What do ya think of this?  People say that a TV movie tends to be the equivellant of a 2-part TV episode.  Well, they can fix that by making them 2-part TV movies, Part 1 the first night with Part 2 the next night.  Edit out the commercials and both parts would come to a full length of 3 hours.  They're cheaper to make and we wouldn't have to wait so long between them as well.

So, what do you think of the idea?  Heck, we could even have our anual DS9 and VOY movies along with "new cast" movies on the big screen! :) Welp, what do you think?

I think that that idea will never happen. It's silly in my opinion.

  8. Along with my petition for a DS9 mini-series and VOY tv movies, I'll have Stargate SG-1 and Everwood to fall back on, and maybe even a series of SG-1 movies! :)

  9. Oh that would be it for me. Id slap on my seven of nine cat suit, tie my computer around my neck, and jump off the nearest bridge humming the TNG theme tune!

    Not!

I wouldnt mind cause I think that it is going on too long and the diluted episodes are tainting my viewing pleaseure of the older better ones. There is less 'cult' status and more 'hum drum'.

  10. There's the "Save Star Trek" website and all these people who think Trek needs saving, and have all these wild ideas about how to save it.

    I've a simple idea:

Instead of trying to save the "franchise", just try and make ENT a top-notch TV series and drop this "we wanna get young guys to watch and go gee-whiz" mentallity.  As for the movies?  Either pick DS9, VOY, or introduce a new cast.  TOS and TNG have run their coarse and ENT is too new for a movie.

Welp, those are my thoughts, what are yours?

But arent the producers doing that? I think they are making it top notch, or at least trying to. I dont see Barman and co out with picket signs trying to get people to just watch it.

Anmd you have changed your tune big time. Only last week you were going on and on about having all the series together in one film. Now you say that TNG has run it's "coarse" (would that be course?).

    Hmmmm.

  11. I watched it last wednesday. I love the retro feel to it. As i have already stated in a previous post, 70s design is back in fashion. Tall lights, oranges and browns are all back in with interior design. And the clothes looked nice and cool and breezy to work in. Very laid back and less militaristic than the red ones. Though if you were a fella with small tackle. Eeek. Too revealing!.....

  12. There are some people here who appear smart. Too smart sometimes! But how smart are we really? Often, academic qualifications are not good indicators by themselves. As there are some who have done well academically but have not been so inventive and successful in the workplace. Lacking in common sense. Often, those who have left school at 15 with no qualifications are the ones who have built empires. I myself am a law graduate and have had limited success in the legal world. In terms of intelligence I would consider myself reasonably so. What about you.

    This will be interesting...

  13. I believe there are some things. *shines flashlight on his face from chin* Two nights ago, Jem, M (my daughter and wife) and myself were in the kitchen taking photos of each other with Jems new Polaroid camera which takes little instant pictures that are stickers. Jem first snapped a photo of M. When it developed, M noticed a partial face in her hair on the left side of her head, I thought it looked familiar but I did not say so, thinking it was my imagination, although the image of eyes, eyebrows and a nose are clearly visible. Next, I stood in the same place as M had, in the hopes the image would appear again, and Jem took my picture. The same image did not appear BUT! After a moment I noticed something strange. When I compared M’s photo with mine, it became obvious that the facial features visible in M’s hair were identical to the way my facial features appeared in the photo of me! My wife joked; I’m going to wash that man right out of my hair.;)

Maybe the camera was giving a double image?

  14. I cant compare them because they are so good in their own rights and in so many different ways. Star Wars has the bonus of being limited and classic. While Star trek is expansive and more daily. Therefore i cant compare.

We're comparring the Trek movies only, not the tv shows to Star Wars. ;)

    I still cant compare.
