  1. I'd didn't really like it either.

I don't know, it just looks like it was a normal ship then it got squashed. I imagine I could get used to it, if it were used in another film, but I'm not crazy about it...yet.

  2. I had the idea that there are some things that are meant to be, by some means or another, like a natural temporal anomally which the 29th century people wouldn't mess with, but there may be some changes to the timeline that are just undetectable by any means.

Like Harry's transmission in Timeless, might have been such a small frequency and such a subtle thing that it would have gone unnoticed by the Time cops.

  3. The Enterprise crew rebeled against Star Fleet, just like the crew of the H.M.S Bounty in the book and later movie, Mutiny on the Bounty. I guess they were content with saving Spock and were in a humerous mood when it came to naming the Bird of Prey.

  4. I think, given the negotiations that were going on with the Klingons at the time, and the fact that Star Fleet never ended up developing a cloak, before it was banned by a treaty with the Romulans, I don't think that it was kept by Star Fleet, and even if it sank, they would have found a way to pulled it back up.

  5. I'd definitely think Riker would be due up for something like a Galaxy class, or Akira class, or maybe an NX ship. But I don't see him getting a top of the line Sovriegn class ship right away, even if he did spend 15 plus years as Executive Officer on three ships (Two Enterprises and the Hood).

  6. TWilight is no doubt my favorite episode of Enterprise thus far, of all seasons. Seeing the worst case scenario of the Xindi conflict, Earth being destroyed, the crew aged, and Archer in such a helpless state. Just great.

Similitude, Carpenters Street, and The Xindi all are other great episodes.

I remember at the start of The Xindi, seeing the council of the five races talk about the destruction of Earth. When the opening theme came on, I had goose bumps almost instantly and thought to myself "They're doin' it. Enterprise is coming into it's own as a Star Trek series." Let's hope it continues.

  7. The Undiscovered Country

I just love a political conspiracy done well in Star Trek fashion. However no villian beats out Khan(The Wrath of Khan), no two Captains are better than Picard and Kirk together (Generations) , and there's no enemy like the Borg (First Contact).

  8. I somehow doubt the klingons would scrap a cloaking device that would give them such a big advantage.  I think it's just one more inconsistincy.

If I had to guess, I would say it had something to do with how the Enterprise found the Bird of Prey in the first place, I assumed picked up the exhaust port ('Well the things gotta have a tale pipe.", or something. Any other way might have done damge to the warp core and/or ventalation systems.

  9. Okay I know that Spock kind of explained it on the Bridge while the ship was under attack, but I never quite understood how it was that General Chang's Bird of Prey was able to fire while under cloak.

Was there ever a real explanation given for it.

  10. One might wonder why they can't move people in need of help to the planet even though the Ba'Ku still live there.. They aren't that many and the planet is pretty large, they wouldn't even have to meet them if they want privacy..

Good idea. Establish a hospital on another continent, but to keep it from being flooded, only important pollitical or military people would be sent there in the event of a terminal disease or mortal injury.

I'd say that only having "important" people there would never happen. There was a Voyager episode about that, where the Doctor was kid napped, and used at a medical facility. Lower class citizens recieved less treatment then say politicains and milatary leaders. If it were a colony for people in critical condition, it should be for people with no and next to no options left.

However I still maintain that negotiations should be done in full force, to try to persuade the Ba'ku.

  11. Well, first of all I wonder why all of a sudden the needs of the few, or the one, outwiegh the needs of the many (don't bring up Search for Spock, the 'many' in that situation acted to save the one, willingly)

And who is to say that the Ba'ku couldn't be called greedy if they knowingly prevented an infinite number of people from being helped medicaly.

Now I draw the line at forcibly removing them from the Briar Patch, like the Son'a and Douherty had originally planned. But you can't tell me that you would entirly dismiss even negotiation with the Ba'ku, about asking them to leave the planet behind.

  12. Well, I would have loved to see Picard and Beverly, because it just would seem right, but at the same time, I would hate seeing Star Trek turned into a soap opera, just worried about who's going to hook up with who. Voyager did that at the end, and it just seemed a little cheap.

I agree, with the exception of Riker/Troi, TNG wasn't about relationships. So, maybe Picard/Crusher in the movies might have given it a soap-opera feel.

What was wrong for Picards motive for staging the whole save the Ba'Ku thing? The Ba'Ku didn't want to live there becuase "it's the world of youth", but rather becuase it's inside the Briar Patch where few will disturb them. It's their home, and that's the point. Remember what Picard said? How many does it take before it becomes wrong, hmm? A thousand, six-thousand, a million, how many people does it take, Commander Ericks! ;) Sorry, seems I've seen that movie one too many times. ;) Anywho, I don't think forced relocation is justifiable unless it's a small group of people, like less than a hundred.

I'm ordering you to the Goran system, Captain. I don't even care if I am only a Commander.

I agree that Will and Deanna's relationship was well done. And you won't see a soap opera take fifteen years for the couple to get married.

But still about the Ba'Ku, I just can't see the Ba'Ku, knowing how much they could help countless billions. And there are so many places away from civilization that the Ba'ku could be placed. I mean, I know it's the lesser of two evils but I still can't get over that Picard was letting his personal feelings get in the way (which he told Shinzon not to do in Nemisis). And last time I checked, the needs of the many still out way the needs of the few.

  13. Well, I would have loved to see Picard and Beverly, because it just would seem right, but at the same time, I would hate seeing Star Trek turned into a soap opera, just worried about who's going to hook up with who. Voyager did that at the end, and it just seemed a little cheap.

One thing I didn't like about Insurrection, was Picard's motive for staging the whole save the Ba'Ku thing. I know it sounds barbaristic, but couldn't there have been a better way. The Ba'ku were good people and aware of what is fair. I figure they would have allowed themselves to be translocated. I mean come on, 600 hundred people losing eternal youth, so that billions of others could be helped by the metaphasic particles. Billions of people. I'm sorry but it just doesn't entirely measure out right with me.

  14. I think Generations is great. Kirk dieing how he did is slightly yeah disappointing, but it still moved me, and the movie as a whole is quite good.

And even if the plot sucks, atleast the effects are sweet. The Final Frontier doesn't even bring in enough visual attractiveness to save it from plot decay.

  15. That was something i thought about before. The Scimitar is a very advanced vessel, and not only is it armed to the teeth, but everything inside is furnished. I'd imagine it would would be a rebuilt cruiser, not totally made from scratch, but as you said, story telling.

That's an excellent idea! It could have easilly of been some derelict alien ship, retrofitted as a Reman Warbird. :)

Well still for that, she had almost all the furnishings of a top of the line expert constructed battle ship.

Come to think of it, Data did say that intelligence reports proved the existance of weapons factories on Remus. It is entirly possible that the planet could have had planetary based ship yards. It wouldn't be above Shinzon or the Remans to take matierials and weapons to build the Scimitar from there.

  16. One could also argue if a flying or hoovering vechile would be a better choice then one that has wheels since wheels limit where the vechile can operate.

I didn't really have a problem with the Argo, it could have been made to look a little bit more 24th century, but IMO, a hover craft in a desert terrain would have been to close to Star Wars to be original.

  17. My major complaint with that whole seen (with the Argo), is the digital grading. It is just horrible. It looks like they drop that portion of the film in bleach or something. Yuck!! And, yeah, Stuart Baird didn't really know Star Trek. His goals were focused more on making an action movie, which he unfortunately succeded at. I hope that this teaches every involved with Trek a lesson. "Stay with in the family. People who know about Star Trek directing Star Trek."

  18. Well for how good it could have been, yeah it was quite lowsy. It isn't really bad aside from the Klingons. First of all, I don't buy Christopher Lloyd as a Klingon, Kirk and Kruge's fight is extremely corny (I've never seen a man near or at his fifties do a back flip), and the acting is fairly corney in several spots. At the same time I can't in good conscience say that that it's worse than Final Frontier.
