  1. Hi there :force:

I once had a dream that my flatmate and I went to a seminar held in a small room at some function centre. We were told that we had to go or else and we had no other choice but to attend. I can't remember what the seminar was supposed to be about, probably something incredibly boring but when we got there, the schedule had changed. We took our seats (there were about five other people there) and then Kate Mulgrew came out onto the stage and started talking (I'm not too sure what she was talking about but it definitely wasn't Voyager). She even came down from the stage and walked around where we were all sitting!! It was so exciting, I remember saying to my flatmate "Look, its Kate Mulgrew and only five other people are here!!!" She kept walking around all of us and talking about different things (Voyager didn't even get mentioned). It was a fantastic dream and I was so annoyed when I woke up!!

I had another dream that I was actually on board Voyager. Janeway, B'Elanna, Tom, Harry, Tuvok, Chakotay, Seven and Kes were planning to beam down to Earth. I was an ensign and I had to make sure the transporters were functioning properly. After the others had beamed down to Earth, Chakotay called me on my comm badge and told me to use the turbolift to get down to the surface - how ridiculous was that!! I asked him why I couldn't just beam down there but he wouldn't tell me (and it didn't occur to me that the only way I could get down there was to BEAM down!). He said, just take the turbolift down and we will meet you on the surface. So somehow, the turbolift DID get me down to Earth but when it came to a stop on the surface, the doors wouldn't open. Tom and Tuvok had to sort out the problem and finally I got out of the turbolift. We all walked around the corner to a cafe and had a cup of coffee. Janeway ordered a cappucino.

    Star Trek dreams are great!!

  2. I would love to see Gillian Anderson play a starship Captain. She portrayed Scully so well on The X-Files, while kicking enough major butt to make her an outstanding Captain on Star Trek aswell. Jodie Foster would be my other choice for starship Captain, I have always liked her movies and she doesn't take any crap from anyone.

On the other hand, Anthony Hopkins would make a great 'scary' alien. His voice has a haunting tone to it and those eyes..................they send a chill up my spine whenever I watch Silence of the Lambs or Red Dragon (as does his voice).

  3. Hi there :force:

I'm relatively new to the world of Star Trek, as I have only been watching it for about a year (I'm in my late 20s) I never saw any Trek as a child and I didn't know anyone else that watched it either The first episode of Trek that I watched properly was 'The Thaw'. I had never seen Voyager before but this episode got me hooked. Although I had watched some episodes of TNG and I had seen most of the TNG movies, I really had no idea what was happening. When my flatmate moved in over a year ago, she introduced me to Star Trek, as she has been a huge trekkie for about ten years. After watching The Thaw, my flatmate suggested we watch Voyager from start to finish and in order. We did that and now I'm hooked on Trek!

I have now seen the entire seven seasons of Voyager and I own several episodes on video. My flatmate also has lots of episodes on tape, so between us, we have about half of the series on video (including Caretaker, all of season 5, Endgame and heaps of other eps inbetween). I'm planning to buy season 1 of Voyager on DVD soon. I'm now watching DS9 - which is a fantastic series and I have seen most of season 5. I didn't like DS9 at first but after season 1, I loved it. I went out and bought seasons 2 and 5 on DVD.

If I ever had children, I'm definitely going to raise them on Star Trek. I even have names from ST picked out for any kids I may have in the future. I don't like common names and ST is a great show to pick up unusual names, not to mention great role models.

  5. I was wondering what tv shows other than sci-fi or fantasy do you watch.

I'm sorry if this has been done...I looked for it and couldn't find it anywhere.

I like to watch...Everwood, The O.C. and Friends :wow:

Apart from Star Trek, I like the following non science fiction shows:

    The Sopranos

    Silent Witness

    Dalziel and Pascoe

    Northern Exposure

    Father Ted

    Red Dwarf

CSI: Miami (I watch this show occassionally)

Without a Trace (again, I watch this show occassionally)

That is about it for me. Apart from Star Trek and The X-Files, there isn't a great deal that I watch on tv.

  6. I voted for Garak. I love this character and I hang out for those very brief scenes with him in them. I really like the way DS9 is making him more of a main character as the series continues (I'm about half way through watching season 5). He was great in Our Man Bashir. I think that was the first episode where Garak appears for more than just a few minutes. I love the mysteriousness of Garak and how nobody 'really' knows him. He is definitely my favorite minor character in DS9.

  7. From: Emissary

Sisko to Quark: "You're a gambler Quark!"

Odo to Quark: "And a theif!"

    :wow:

Here are some more great DS9 quotes:

From Trials and Tribble-lations (in the turbolift)

    Leuitenant: You're flaps open.

    Julian: Mm??

Leuitenant: On your tricorder. You're draining power.

    Julian: Oh! (closes the flap)

    O'Brien: He's always doing that.

    From Dr Bashir, I Presume:

Doctor Zimmerman is interviewing everyone about Julain:

Kira: Sometimes he just didn't know when to shut up!

  8. "My philosophy is that there is room for all philosophies on the station." ~ Benjamin Sisko

"The truth is usually an excuse for a lack of imagination." ~ Garak

Jem'Hadar (talking to Jadzia): How old are you?

Jadzia: I stopped counting after 300.

Jadzia: I know, I know, seat of the pants.

Kira: With your eyes leutenant, not your pants! (The Seige)

  9. For me i'm torn between Lwaxana Troi and Kai Wynn, I just want to strangle them both.  Argh, i'm going insane just thinking about them ;)

I agree, I would love to strangle Kai Wynn too. As for Lwaxana Troi, she did irritate me too (or rather, she still does, I have only seen four seasons of DS9) but she isn't really that bad. Kai Wynn is a character that we love to hate.

    Madam Captain out!!

  10. Kai Wynn really irritates the hell out of me!!!!!! I really hate the way she calls Kira 'my child'. She just wants power and will do anything to get it, even if it means someone has to die on her behalf. I have more choice words to describe her but I shouldn't utter them on this message board.

  11. i feel like im the only one who ever votes voyager anything...lol

    Hi there :frusty:

I voted for Voyager too. I always vote for Voyager things aswell because it was my favorite Trek series. I loved Kate Mulgrew as Captain Janeway, she is my favorite character in Star Trek, although Jadzia from DS9 comes a close second. Although I'm really enjoying watching DS9 (I have only seen four seasons) I found that Voyager was great right from the start. I didn't even like DS9 at first but after watching season 1, it slowly grew on me and now I can't get enough of it!! However, Voyager will always be number one on my list of favorite Trek series.

  12. Dukat: "Major, it appears our lives have become intertwined." (not exact)

Kira:    "That really pleases you, doesn't it, Dukat?"

Dukat: "Major, it gives me reason to live."

Garak to Bashir.  "Just plain, simple Garak."

Garak: "My dear Doctor, they were all true."

    Bashir: "Even the lies?"

    Garak: "Especially the lies."

(Someone) to Quark about Odo: "But you're his greatest enemy!"

Quark: "I guess that's the closest thing he has to a friend."

Kira speaking to Bashir about her pregnancy: "This is all your fault!"

Rom, yelling in the corridor.  "Leeeeeeeetaaaaaaaaaaaa!  Waaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiit!"

(I also love Chase M's imitation of it. :frusty: )

(Robert Picardo) as he's boarding the transport at the end of "Doctor Bashir, I Presume":  "Have you heard of an ancient text called the 'Kama Sutra?'"

Oh, man, there are so many.  I'm going to have to check the wording on a few more.

Here are some more great quotes:

Jadzia: Whoah!! Whats that? Is that a spider or a dog?

Kira: Its a Paluckoo. The Bajoran moons are full of them.

Jadzia: Oh I suppose you used to make them your pets and sing songs about them around the campfire.

Kira: No. We used to eat them (The Seige)

Julian: (looking at Jadzia's plant) In my expert medical opinion, I'd say.......it's sick(The Wire)

Garak: Really, Doctor...must we always play this game? I'm no more a spy than you are.........

    Julian: A doctor (Cardassians)

I really, really like this one:

Kira (to Worf): I suppose your gods are less vague?

Worf: Our gods are dead. Ancient Klingon warriors slew them a millenium ago.

Kira: I guess I'll never understand Klingons.

O'Brien: Don't worry Major. Nobody does (whispered) They like it that way.

  13. So what are your favorite DS9 quotes??

I have only seen four seasons of DS9 but I already have some favorite quotes from the show. Here they are:

Jadzia (talking to Sisko about Dr McCoy): I had the feeling he would become a doctor. He had the hands of a surgeon (Trials and Tribble-lations)

Sisko (to Julian): Don't apologise, its been the high point of my day. Don't do it again! (Cardassians)

Garak: I must say Doctor, Major Kira is certainly throwing herself into the role (Our Man Bashir)

Odo: I always investigate Quark (I can't remember which episode this is from)

Quark: The three of us and millions of primative humans. I like those odds (Little Green Men)

Kira: I broke my nose! (Past Tense)

I can't think of anymore right now. Feel free to add your own favorite quotes.

  14. I would love to see a Voyager and Deep Space Nine movie combined. I love both series (even though I haven't seen the entire seven seasons of DS9 yet). I think the characters from both Voyager and DS9 would complement each other very well. However, I hope a new movie is made soon because the actors from both series would be getting a bit old by now.

  15. I voted for The Year of Hell but if I could vote twice, I would also vote for Endgame. I loved Homecoming and The Farther Shore, the books that followed on from Endgame. I also really liked Workforce, I found it very interesting to see the characters in completely different roles. Dark Frontier was great too and one of my favorite pieces of dialogue is from this two parter:

Janeway (to Naomi Wildman): There are three things to know about a Starship Captain. Keep your shirt tucked in, go down with the ship and never abandon a member of your crew.

  16. It sounds like a great job to me. Mark Sheppard didn't have to say a word, the make-up disguised his face so he could never be recognised in real life and all he had to do was sit at Quark's bar. How easy would that be!! Having all the make-up put on would have been annoying but I'm sure it was worth it for him. Oh and I forgot to mention that he also starred in a fantastic Star Trek series and probably got payed heaps of money just to sit down!! He did appear in most episodes of Deep Space Nine so he probably made a decent amount of money. How many episodes of DS9 did he appear in altogether??

  17. I didn't vote for any of the characters on your list because my favorite on screen kiss by an ST actore wasn't listed.  My favorite on screen kiss was between Jadzia and Lenara Kahn in Rejoined. I'm glad that the writers and producers explored an issue that was so contraversial. In one way, it wasn't really two women kissing at all but rather, the symbionts' previous hosts resuming a relationship that was ended so suddenly years earlier. Even though I'm not a lesbian myself, I have no problems with other people that want to pursue a same sex relationship. Rejoined would have to be one of my favorite Star Trek episodes.

I think this was the first time that a kiss was shared between two women and aired on television. I love how Star Trek is so diverse and non-stereotypical.

    Madam Captain out!!

Rejoined is one of my favorite DS9 episodes and also contains my vote for the most passionate kiss on Star Trek: Jadzia and Lenara. One thing that I loved about Deep Space Nine was the character development and this episode did a great job filling in some backstory of the Jadiza Dax character played by Terry Farrell.

Also did you know that LeVar Burton directed this episode?

Yes, I noticed that a few episodes of Deep Space Nine were directed by Levar Burton. Avery Brooks also directed an episode somewhere in season three or four, I think it was Starship Down - or I may be wrong.

Terry Farell did such a fantastic portrayal of Jadzia Dax. Rejoined was a great episode about Trill culture. I agree, DS9 did a great job with character development and even though I haven't seen the entire series yet, I must say that Trills are my favorite aliens on DS9 (followed closely by Bajorans). I find Trills to be very interesting, especially joined Trills like Jadzia. She is so confident and definitely my favorite character on the show.

  18. I loved Voyager and it was my favorite Star Trek series (and it still is). Deep Space Nine comes a close second, although I have only seen up to about half way through season 4 so far. I haven't really seen much TNG so I can't comment on that series.

  20. Janeway IDIC is my flatmate. I already wished her a happy birthday on Monday but I have to say "Happy Birthday to a great friend and trekkie of ten years". I don't think she has read these messages so I will let her know about them.

  21. Hi there :)

Its so hard to choose just one favorite episode out of all the incarnations of Star Trek. Let me think about that for a minute.........................

Okay, my favorite episode would have to be Trials and Tribble-lations from Deep Space Nine. I have watched that episode several times and its funny every time. The scenes with Julian and O'Brien are hilarious but my favorite scene from that episode is the one with Jadzia and Sisko. Jadzia tells him that one of her previous hosts went out with Dr McCoy and she knew he would become a doctor because 'he had the hands of a surgeon'.

  22. After having just watched 'In Purgatory's Shadow' and 'By Inferno's Light' I've got to say, those two episodes are among the best television I have ever seen, bar none. A classic one and a half hour tale of honour, betrayal, love and hate. And of course Garak, who steals the show.

It also has one of those classic Worf quotes.

Worf: [to Sisko] 'At the first sign of betrayal, I will kill him. [Garak] But I promise you this: I will leave the body intact.'

Sisko: 'I assume that is a joke?'

    Worf: 'We will see.'

I just watched 'Our Man Bashir' last night and I loved it!! Garak was fantastic as usual and I think he was a bit embarrassed by Julian's 007 holodeck program. I had to laugh when Julian shot that guy with cork from a champagne bottle - how ridiculous and yet so typical of Julain to have such a corny holodeck program. I will definitely be watching that episode again, it was hilarious!

    Madam Captain out!!

  23. I love the little quips that Garak comes up with in the middle of conversations, its half a joke and half deadly serious and your not sure which way to lean

I love the way Garak always tells people that he is just a simple taylor. He really is highly intelligent and my guess is that he was a very successful spy in the past. However, I smile each time he tells people that he 'overheard somebody talking about it when he was taking up the hem on someone's trousers'

    Linda

  24. I thought I would start a discussion about Garak, the Cardassian taylor on Deep Space Nine. Even though I have only recently started watching DS9, I think Garak is my favorite minor character on the show. I really love the mysteriousness of this character and his subtle approach to everything. I also love the way he carefully divulges information to Julian and the way he hints about being, or not being a spy in the past.

Did anyone else love this character?? Or did you find him irritating?

    Madam Captain out!!

Oh my gosh, just you wait 'til you see "In Purgatory's Shadow" and "By Inferno's Light" (Season 5, I think?) and "In the Pale Moonlight" (Season 6). If you think you like Garak now, it's nothing compared to how you'll feel about him after watching those episodes.

He is the very best of the supporting cast on this show ... he just blows Gul Dukat away.

I look forward to watching those episodes. I have seen the first three seasons of DS9 so far and the show just keeps getting better. Garak's character seems to be getting more complicated as the show progresses, which also makes him more interesting.

I didn't really like DS9 when I first started watching it, it took a while to get into the show but now I can't get enough!!
