  1. Hi there again

Thanks for all your replies. This forum is great, much better than the one at the official Star Trek site.

I was also wondering, how do you reply to a particular post?? I have just been clicking the red 'add reply' button at the top of the thread but I think this only replies to the first post. Is there a way to reply to a post without just replying to the frist post?

  2. Hi there B)

I forgot to mention 'Macrocsm'. That episode was FANTASTIC or as my housemate says 'nectar of the Gods'. Janeway marching around the ship with her phaser rifle, blasting the crap out of those macro virus things, was great. I almost cringed when she ruptured her lateral extensor muscle and she somehow managed to drag herself to sickbay. This was the ultimate Janeway episode and I loved it!

  3. Hi there B)

I'm new to this forum and relatively new to the world of Star Trek. I have seen several episodes of The Next Generation, most of the movies, the first season of Deep Space Nine and most of the Voyager series.

I was just wondering what was the first episode of Voyager you ever saw??

The first episode I ever watched properly was 'The Thaw'. This was a great episode to watch, as it was 'stand alone' episode of sorts and ideal for anyone who is interested in Voyager but has never seen an episode. Of course, I had no idea who the characters were or even that the Doctor was a hologram but I enjoyed it nevertheless. The next episodes of Voyager that I watched were 'Fair Haven' and 'Counterpoint'. Well, they were on in the background because my housemate was watching them (she is a dedicated trekkie) so I really only listened to them. She has also watched 'Endgame' several times but because I had never seen Voyager before, it all went right over my head (and I wasn't really watching it anyway)

My housemate suggested that we watch Voyager from the beginning and in order. She could see that I liked it after watching 'The Thaw' and thought it would be great to watch it from the start. She had seen the entire series before (some episodes she has seen many times) but as she is a trekkie, she was excited to watch them again. We are nearly half way through season seven.

    Just curious,

  4. Hi there B)

I haven't seen the entire seven seasons of Voyager yet, although I have seen up to 'Inside Man' in season seven. I think Voyager started off very well, so many things were set up in Caretaker and I liked it right from the start (even though The Thaw was the first Voyager epiosde I ever saw). I haven't seen Endgame yet but I have heard that it went out with a bang.

I really like the consistency of Voyager, especially when the characters are discussing certain past situations or away missions. Most of these past events actually occurred in earlier episodes. which makes me want to go back and watch these episodes again. In Macrocosm (one of my favorite episodes) when Janeway was running her tricorder over Neelix, she told him he has fluid on his lungs. Neelix corrects her and says 'lung'. This episode was consistent with the earlier episode (I can't remember the name of it right now) when the Vidians extracted Neelix's lungs. Later, with the help of the Vidians, Kes donated one of her lungs to Neelix. I could write about several more examples but that would take forever.

I liked the way the characters developed throughout the seasons, especially the Doctor, Tom and B'leanna. I loved the episodes when the Doctor got into his opera singing, especially Tinker, Tenor, Doctor, Spy. It was interesting that Tom and B'leanna irritated the hell out of each other at first but then they became good friends and this developed even further.

As I haven't seen the entire seven seasons yet, I will probably have a different impression when I have seen all the episodes.

  5. Hi there B)

Captain Janeway was one hell of a captain. She was compassionate, caring, tough when she needed to be tough and she really knew how to take control of a star ship. Janeway was completely devoted to her crew and she got them through some extremely challenging situations.

Her main goal was to get her crew home, even if it was going to take seventy years to get back to Earth. Even though she knew the odds were against her, she never gave up hope (although at times it was doubtful) and she got the crew home after seven years. I think Janeway was very courageous and I admired her for having to make so many difficult decisions. She was faced with many contraversial issues and I think this made her a stronger person.

  7. Hi there B)

When I think about it, there were two episodes that left lasting impressions on me (although I haven't seen the entire seven seasons yet). They were Resolutions and Coda.

I loved the chemistry between Janeway and Chakotay in Resolutions and how they came to accept that they would probably have to spend the rest of their lives together on that planet. I really felt uneasy when Janeway handed the command of Voyager over to Tuvok - it just seemed strange to see someone else in control of the ship. I think this episode also showed us that while Janeway and Chakotay were just friends, the situation would have to change if they were going to be stuck on that planet for ever.

Coda was such an emotional episode. To see Janeway dead and then to see her walking around the ship as some sort of ghost was really eerie. It was so sad to see her watching her own funeral and to see the rest of the crew grieving. I really liked the way Janeway was so intent on making the crew realise that she was still on the ship and how she didn't give in to that alien.
