  1. Hi there

I voted for Janeway. She has always been my favorite character on Voyager, closely followed by The Doctor, Seven, B'Elanna, Tom, Neelix, Kes and Naomi.

"There are three things to remember about being a starship Captain. Keep your shirt tucked in, go down with the ship and never abandon a member of your crew"

Janeway to Naomi in 'Dark Frontier'.

  2. 'Tuvix' after Tuvok and Neelix were seperated, and Janeway is walking away from sickbay. The fear of what she had done was so powerful.

And the episdoe were Tuvok's memory was lost, and he had to become an entirly new person. It was such a beautiful episode all around.

    Hi there

I agree, the expression on Janeway's face was one of anger and fear. She had to make such a difficult decision to separate Neelix and Tuvok, when there was clearly no right or wrong answer. She knew her decision was ethically questionable and extremely contraversial but she also wanted to get her friends back too. Tuvix had every right to question her decision aswell because he had become an individual and to separate Neelix and Tuvok would be killing him in the process. I thought Janeway made the right decision but I wonder if she felt as if she had made the wrong choice? I guess in those circumstances, a decision had to be made, regardless of the consequences.

The episode when Tuvok lost his memory was great too. I loved the last scene when he told Neelix that the man stranded on that planet also survived because he 'ate the Sundays' (remember Neelix told Tuvok that riddle about a guy stuck on a planet for a whole year and he only had a calender - something like that and he ate the 'dates' to survive?) Then Neelix said 'That wouldn't be very logical now would it' and Tuvok said 'No, it would not' or something similar to this. That was a great moment. I bet Neelix was really pleased with himself too because he finally got Tuvok to laugh!!

  3. The moment in Endgame when Miral was born.  I loved the look on Tom's face when he heard the baby cry.  Janeway's reaction was good, too.

    Hi there

Yes, that was a great moment when Miral was born. That hit a nerve with me too.

I also loved the end of 'The Year of Hell' part II. When Voyager enters Crenim space and they are told to have 'a safe journey'. After watching the destruction of Voyager earlier in the episode, this scene really had a huge impact on me. I liked the idea for those episodes, that race of aliens changing the timeline. It all backfired in the end though, which was a good thing for Voyager.

  4. When Voyager first started they had a different actress playing Captain Janeway.  Well when someone says what if some other actor played a trek part how would it look.  It looks like we do. I know she only worked for a few days before she quit but does anybody have the footage of that different actress.  I don't even now her name if you know that it would be helpful too as I could at least what she has already done and pretend what she would look like in a star trek uniform.

    Thanks

    Hi there

I don't know where you can find footage of the other actress that was originally cast as Janeway. However, I think that actress quit after only two days of filming. Kate Mulgrew mentioned this at a convention in Sydney, Australia (I had the con report saved in my favorites file). She also mentioned that Genevieve Bujold (the other actress) kept saying 'ongarge' instead of 'engage' on set. Kate Mulgrew actually auditioned for the part of Janeway but the other actress got the part first. Kate said it was probably the worst audition she had ever done and even apologised for her 'bad form'. Then she quit and Kate's agent told her they were now 'desperate' and that she needed to get down to the studio to do another audition. Kate said she was really sick with the flu at the time and she didn't really care whether she got the part or not. So she did her audition, told the guys "I'm sick, wished them luck and went home!!! She must have been good to still be able to do that audition, being sick and everything and still get the part!!

Anyway, as I said before, I have no info on the original Janeway actress but I thought that was very interesting, the way Kate Mulgrew got the part................

  5. i burst out laughing when he was activated as the EMH and his pips popped out on his collar...

    Hi there

I laughed at that moment too. I also loved the scene when he activates the ECH and Janeway is watching - and she says "Nice Touch" when all the pips pop up on his collar. Then when Janeway is telling The Doctor what to say to those aliens and he keeps improvising. She told him to stop improvising. That was funny!!

  6. I really like Nelix.  I wished there had been more episodes in Voyager that involed his species.  The Talaxian I thought were good people.  Many of the other species in the Delta Quadrant I really didn't like.

    Hi there

I liked the Talaxians too. I really liked Homestead, when Voyager found Talaxians living inside an asteroid. It was a great Neelix story and I'm glad he decided to go back there to live with his people. Have you ever read 'Pathways' by Jeri Taylor?? Neelix talks about his life on Talax and Rinax in that book. I found that to be very interesting, especially when he had to get away from Talax because he saw something he wasn't supposed to see. He had to leave his family behind and live on Rinax so the authorities couldn't catch him. As it turned out, Talax was destroyed so if Neelix had stayed there, he would have died and then we would have never seen him on Voyager and the crew would never have been able to experience the taste of leola roots...........................lol!

Seriously though, I thought the Talaxians were very honest and genuine people.

I didn't really grow to like any of the other Delta Quadrant species, although I thought The Vidians were scary. Whenever they appeared on Voyager, I always shuddered at the thought of someone losing their organs. Species 8472 made the Borg look harmless and they way they moved, sort of reminded me of a big spider...........

    Linda

  7. My favorite character is B'Elanna Torres

    Hi there

I never would have guessed B'Elanna was your favorite character.................lol!!

I loved B'Elanna, she was one of those 'Im not gonna take any crap from anyone' sort of person. I admired her for being able to state her own opinion. I found it very interesting that she was a klingon/human hybrid, that made for some great storylines about her not being able to come to terms with being half klingon. My favorite B'Elanna episode was Lineage.

I would have to say that Janeway was my favorite Voyager character.

    Linda

  8. Captain Janeway.  I bet she could beat up Picard in a nanosecond (not that I dislike Picard, I just think that Janeway's pretty tough).

No way. Picard has way better tactics then Janeway. Janeway seems to act without thinking while Picard is always absolutely sure of his strategies. Picard is my favorite captain and I couldn't bear to watch him get beat up. Lol. I do think that they should make a ST:XI and have Picard dying. All the crew could get back together again because of that and Picard, just before he dies, could pass the Enterprise onto Riker again. He would have to accept. It has to be near the beginning too or the movie would be really boring. It would be sad yet a real asset to the series especially since Stewart wants out.

I really don't like the idea of Picard getting killed, but if they do kill him it has to be a better death than what Kirk got. Where did you hear that Stewert wanted out? The last interview I read with him (which was just before Nemesis came out), he sounded like he was far from ready to give up Picard.

Also my favorite Voyager Character would either have to be Janeway or The Docter.

    Hi there

Yay!! Someone else that listed Janeway as their favorite character. She is such a legend and a fantastic Captain. The Doctor was another one of my favorites too. I loved the episodes when he sang opera, especially in Renaisance Man - Janeway and The Doctor are in a shuttle on their way to a medical conference and he's singing opera as loudly as possible. Janeway wakes up and tells him that 15 minutes of sleep is really all the sleep she needs..............

Also Tinker, Tenor, Doctor Spy, right at the beginning when he sings and the rest of the Voyager crew are in the audience, looking a bit bored...........

    Linda

  9. Don't count Ben Sisko out now...

    Hi there

Ben Sisko was a tough Commander. Could you imagine a butt kicking contest between Picard, Sisko and Janeway?? Honestly, I couldn't see any reason for any of them wanting to kick each other's butt but its an interesting thought.........................

  10. Captain Janeway.  I bet she could beat up Picard in a nanosecond (not that I dislike Picard, I just think that Janeway's pretty tough).

    Hi there

Janeway is a tough Captain. If she did have to beat him up, I think she could hurt him more with her choice of words than anything else. However, I don't think Janeway would ever need a reason to kick Picard's butt. She has too much respect for Picard to beat him up and he has too much respect for her to give her any reason to do so.

  11. Ok whats Everyones FAVOURITE Voyager Cast Member??

Mine would have to be the Doctor.. hes funny and wants to aspire to be what he wasn;t programmed to be

    Neelix- just cuz hes unique

    -Laur

    Hi there

Janeway would have to be my favorite character in Voyager, closely followed by The Doctor and Seven of Nine. I also loved Tom, B'Elanna, Neelix, Kes and Naomi.

There were lots of great episodes about Janeway - my favorites being Persistance of Vision and Macrocosm. I also loved any episodes about The Doctor, such as Tinker, Tenor, Doctor Spy, Renaisance Man, Author Author and Body & Soul (I can't think of any others off hand)

    Linda

  12. Why do all children in Star Trek have 'accelerated growth'??? For heaven's sake. They also have accelerated annoying factor as well. Naomi deserved to be locked in a holodeck on a safari programme with the safeties off. Get them elephants a chargin. Either that or blow her out of an air lock, make her eat Neelix's boiled underpants, make her lick Janeway's bun, make her call Seven of Nine a Borg prostitute, make her dance naked in the mess hall wearing nothing but a communicator singing Live and Let Die by Guns n Roses during a Kazon attack (which no one really notices - minimal damages to the shields)

    Hi there

I think you are outnumbered here. Most other people on this board liked Naomi. Of course, you are entitled to your own opinion but to make Naomi eat Neelix's underpants?? Now that is just getting a bit too ridiculous. I didn't see Janeway wearing a 'bun' in the episodes that Naomi was in, unless you are referring to a different kind of bun........................

    Anyway, I loved Naomi.

    Linda

  13. Its anybody's guess as to how long a Ktarian lives. If Voyager ever gets a movie, and Naomi is somehow involved, will they need to cast a 30-year old woman? That accelerated growth rate of hers was something.Makes you wonder how rapidly Kes went from infant to adolescence.

I liked Naomi, and the Borg kids.I think Icheb was probably my favorite "kid" on any Trek series.

    Hi there

I loved Naomi. She was my favorite 'kid' on Voyager and I liked the borg children aswell. Icheb was great too but I thought Naomi was really cute. I liked the relationship between Naomi and Seven - they were both able to relate to each other because Naomi had never been to Earth and Seven had no memories of being on Earth (in fact, she once stated that she had 'never even been to Earth'). I especially liked the idea of having a child born on Voyager and I loved all the episodes with Naomi in them (my favorite ones were Latent Image and Dark Frontier I and II)

Oh yeah, O'Brien's daughter on DS9 was such a cutie too. I can't remember her name off hand.

    Linda

  14. I started watching it half way through the seventh season. I believe the first ep i ever saw was Lineage, but I could be wrong. I regret not watching it from season 3 because I already knew that P/T was gonna happen and I missed all the flirting. But if I had watched it from the begining I would of been 4 when it started (in 1994).

Wow!! You are young, how old were you when you started watching Voyager?? I'm about thirteen years older than you and I still have trouble trying to understand some of the technobabble. If I started watching Voyager at your age, most of it would have gone straight over my head!

  15. Sorry folks, but NEMESIS bombed in theaters and the cast is getting old, not to mention that Data died, Riker & Troi got married as well as transferring to Riker's 1st command.  TNG is over.

From what I've read, Rick Berman is leaning towards the idea of a mixed cast feature, using selected characters from at least 2 of the Trek shows.

    Hi there :klingon:

I agree, the cast of TNG are not getting any younger. Patrick Stewart must be close to 70 by now, jeez, he looked old in early seasons of TNG!! All good things must come to an end, just like Voyager and DS9 will eventually come to an end, after a few movies are made about them (well hopefully a few movies will be made about them!).

I honestly thought Nemesis was a great film, even though it bombed at the cinema. I liked the way the movie was made and how Deanna and Riker finally tied the knot. Being the Voyager fan that I am, I especailly liked the scene between Picard and Janeway, when she was giving him his orders.

I guess we won't know about any new Trek movies (mixed cast from different series or otherwise) until its just about time to release the film at the cinema. Of course there are rumours flying around about a new movie being made but until it actually comes to cinemas, we won't have any clues.

    Linda

  16. I wouldn't be surprised if there is one more TNG movie and then either a completely new cast or an Enterprise movie.

    Hi there :klingon:

I honestly think there will be no more TNG movies, they have done everything possible about TNG and Data died (or rather, he was destroyed) in Nemesis so it wouldn't be the same without him. Of course Q could come along and snap his fingers to bring Data back (actually, I could imagine him doing that too!) but I don't think thats going to happen.

I think there should be a Voyager or DS9 movie, or a mixed cast with both Voyager and DS9 characters before there is an Enterprise movie. Enterprise has only been going for a couple of seasons.

    Linda

  17. If they decided to do a mixed cast movie. They would probably have one very huge problem, possibly depending on the fate of the earth. And all of the crews would have to work together to stop it. Mabye the borg or something, but personaly I'm a little bored of the borg, from seeing so much of them in Voyager. Could be a completly new species. Any thoughts? To answer the question above: I would like to see what happens to Miral Paris. Aswell as what Star Fleet does with the Maquis.

    Hi there :klingon:

Have you read 'Homecoming' and 'The Farther Shore?. Homecoming is about Voyager's return to Earth and it picks up from where Endgame finished. The Farther Shore is book two and continues directly on from Homecoming. The Borg are dealt with in both of these novels and I think after reading them, they couldn't possibly do anything else about The Borg. However, that is just in the novels, it doesn't mean a movie can't be made about Voyager and The Borg, or The Borg taking over the Earth. I agree though, that they need a new alien to tackle or something completely different, that could maybe lead onto more than one Voyager (or mixed cast) movie.

I would love to see the entire cast of Voyager in a movie, along with Icheb and a few characters from DS9 - maybe Julian, Warf, Kira, Quark, Odo and of course, Sisko. I also agree, it would be great to see how Miral deals with being part Klingon and how Starfleet deals with the Marquis. Obviously, all of these issues couldn't possibly fit into one movie but we can always dream.....................

    Linda

  18. Thanks you guys. Thay was it.  One of my favs.

It was a favorite of mine too, I would love to see more of the race and how they developed after Voyager left. I would have also loved to see more about the Doctors 2 years on the planet.

This is one of my favorite episodes too. I thought the Doctor was on the planet for three years. He also had a son while he was there aswell. It was a very interesting episode but I think the writers left it up to the imagination of the viewer, in terms of what might have happened later on.

    Linda

  19. Oh Crap! Again I must correct myself. It was another episode with the Herogin. the one where they took over Voyager, and first used the holodeck. The whole WWII scenerio was great. What other 2-part shows where there?

    Hi there

    Other two parters were:

The Killing Game (which is the one you mentioned)

    Dark Frontier

    The Year of Hell

I can't think of any others that haven't been mentioned already.

My favotire two parter was Dark Frontier. I absolutely loved the scene between Naomi and Janeway. Naomi goes to see Janeway after Seven decides to stay on the Borg cube. Naomi asked Janeway if they would find Seven and Janeway said:

"There are three things to remember about being a Starfleet captain. Keep your shirt tucked in, go down with the ship and never abandon a member of your crew"

That has to be my favorite Voyager scene.

  20. trekfan2001

    Australia

    Date: 2 May 2002

Summary: Occasionally brilliant, but often predictable and standard trek.

While Voyager does have a number of brilliant episodes, the majority are extremely predictable and very much bog standard trek. I sometimes wonder if the producers have a few story templates to use when they run out of ideas.

    Example Template:

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    1. Voyager is flying along in space.

    2. Voyager discovers planet/anomaly/ship.

    3. There is some sort of problem with planet/anomaly/ship.

    4. Voyager's crew solves the problem with the help of some extremely lame techno-babble and everyone is happy.

    5. Voyager continues on it's merry way to the next predictable episode.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

As far as the characters go, they are extremely under-developed. The only way to tell apart a season one episode from a season seven episode is Janeway's hair style and whether Kes or 7of9 is in it. Some characters also do complete backflips in their behaviour and ideas from episode to episode. In some episodes Janeway refuses to break the prime directive to even the smallest degree, but in other episodes she doesn't think twice about breaking it. A good example of this type of attitude change is the way she refused to share transporter technology with the Kazon, but later in the series she shares holodeck technology with the Hirogen. While the other characters don't have quite as many contradictions, they also aren't given the opportunity to develop contradictions because they are often just there to support Captain "Inconsistent" Janeway.

They also killed off some great story possibilities by making the ex-Maquis crew fit in so well. There was so much potential for some great stories filled with tension between the Starfleet and Maquis crew, but instead they turned Voyager into one big happy family after only a few episodes.

Basically I think Voyager is the weakest of the Star Trek series. It only has minimal character development, it is very predictable and has some of Star Trek's worst ever episodes (eg: the great Tom Paris turns into a giant catfish episode :-) ). However, Voyager is Star Trek and it has its moments of brilliance. Overall it is still a good series and is much better than a lot of the other rubbish that has been produced for TV.

Found on IMDB do you find this review to be a fair appraisal of the Star Trek Voyager series?

    Hi there :P

I would have to disagree. Voyager was a great series (and it still is a great series) and I have watched several episodes many times. Even though I'm new to the world of Star Trek, I think Voyager is the best Trek series, closely followed by TNG and DS9. The characters, in my opinion, were well developed, especially Seven, The Doctor, Janeway, B'elanna...................actually, they were all well developed. The only character that I thought didn't get enough development was Kes but I still liked her.

Of course there were lots of episodes based on Voyager flying alone through space but that was the whole idea of the series - Voyager was trapped in the Delta Quadrant so naturally there were going to be many times when they were by themselves.

Anyway, I loved Voyager (and I still love it) but I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

If you find Voyager so predictable, then what are you doing on this site?? I think it would be better for you to keep your opinions about Voyager to yourself. If you don't like Voyager, then go to the other Trek message boards, there are sections dedicated to TOS, TNG, DS9 and all the movies.

I know I'm only new to the world of Trek but I think this message board should contain positive discussions about Voyager. There might be some young impressionable people out there reading threads on this message board, that might be discouraged from watching Voyager. It is such a fantastic show so the more people that like it, the better.

    Just adding my two cents,

I just noticed from the top of your thread that you are from Australia. Me too. There should be more Australians on here, preferably ones that actaully have something good to say about Voyager.

I'm not trying to cause angst on this message board and you are entitled to your own opinion but I think there are many trekkies out there who are going to disagree with you,

    Linda

  21. For those of us who are Voyager Fans, I was just wondering what some of your favorite moments in in Voyager were?  Some of mine for example include:

From RESOLUTIONS..... when Janeway and Chakotay were exiled after being bitten by  a deadly insect.  I fondly recall how close they became, and that one VERY tender moment between them when Chakotay was massaging Janewy's shoulders.

From DAY OF HONOR......when B'Elanna finally confesses to Tom that she loves him.

From IMPERFECTION.......when a dying Iceb finally convinces a dying Seven of 9 to accept his cortical node.

From THE GIFT........the scene between Captain Janeway and Seven of 9 (still in drone form) after Seven has been thrown into the brig after trying to get in touch with the Collective.

I'd like to here some of your favorite moments........... :assimilated:

    Hi there : )

I also loved 'Resolutions' and the chemistry between Janeway and Chakotay. I felt a bit uneasy when Janeway handed the command of the ship over to Tuvok - it just didn't seem right to see him as the captain.

Another favorite moment would have to be in 'Coda' when Janeway had died but she was still wondering around the ship as some sort of ghost. Everyone was grieving and nobody wanted to let go but they had to accept that she was dead. I also loved the way Janeway was insistent on making Kes believe she was still alive and how she didn't give into that alien.

I have lots of favorite moments from Macrocosm, there are too many to mention, the whole episode was one entire 'favorite moment'.

Body and Soul was great, the episode when the Doctor took over Seven's body. Jeri Ryan did such a fantastic job of impersonating the Doctor, it was perfect.

I have lots of other favorite moments but I can't think of anymore right now.

    Linda

  22. I know that most think just ok this is impossible because as soon as he is assimilated all he has to do is snap his fingers and the borg never exhisted... but for the sake of conversation say that the cought him off guard and Q is now part of the collective.... what happens next? :assimilated:

    Hi there

I honestly think it would be a bad idea to assimilate Q. He is such a great character and there needs to be some people that the Borg find 'impossible' to assimilate. I loved how he could annoy the crap out of Janeway and Picard. He really knew how to get a reaction out of them and which buttons to press. I wonder why he didn't target any of the other characters??

    Linda

  23. Linda,

im an aussie...in WA......sydney gets the better conventions, with 2-3 guests.  WA gets one....where are you looking at? a good place to go is www.startrek.com.au

    Hi there :saintdevil:

I looked at startrek.com.au and they didn't have any info, well they do have info but it said the site was under construction and to come back in early September. It is now nearly October. Oh well, I guess I will have to wait.

I would rather go to a convention in Perth, as I live there but if Kate Mulgrew came to Australia again and she was only going to Sydney or Melbourne, I would dig up the cash and make the trip.

    Linda

  24. Hi there

I would love to see a Voyager movie but I don't think there will be a movie just about Voyager. For one thing, Janeway is now an Admiral and Admirals don't normally go on deep space missions. They usually stay at Starfleet Headquarters and maybe teach a few classes at Starfleet Academy. Another thing is that if there was going to be a Voyager movie, Janeway would have to step down from her Admiral position and become a Captain again. Then Voyager would need to be lost in the Delta Quadrant again - it wouldn't be Voyager without the ship being lost in deep space.

I think a movie with a mixed cast (like the characters from Voyager and Deep Space Nine) would be more realistic. I agree with my housemate, who is a trekkie, that enough movies have been made about The Next Generation.

    Linda

  25. Hi there

I think Janeway had nine lives!! She definitely used all nine lives and then some throughout the whole seven seasons. Actually, I can't really comment on the last half of season seven because I haven't seen it yet.

In my opinion, it would have been a mistake to kill off more of the main characters during there more 'dangerous adventures in space'. The show needed all of its main characters and to get rid of just one would have left a huge void among the crew. Of course, they did get involved in many life threatening situations, however, I don't think these situations could have been avoided. Also remember this was the 24th century, so modern medicine could cure almost any injury, not matter how serious. The Doctor could even revive someone that was already dead, depending on how long they had been dead. I almost forgot to mention that several of the crew died during Caretaker so to kill off several more people would have been a bad idea (especially main characters)

    Linda
