  1. In regards to statements that T'Pol will be showing more skin - I do not think taking T'Pol further down the sex kitten path will help the series.

Regarding the new cast members - I am concerned about the "new muscle" I hope this isn't a ploy to replace (or seriously diminish the roles of) the older cast members with a bunch of baby-faced buff-bodied commando's (M&F)

  3. I've been a trekkie since I saw the previews for TOS - I can still vaguely remember what the promo looked like. I think I just came into the world pre-dispositioned to be a trekkie or SciFi fan in general. The love of space has been "in my blood" for as long as I can remember.

  4. I know there were lot but these are the ones I've seen:

Robert Duncan McNeill guest starred in an episode of Quantum Leap - small world; Dominic Keating was a vamp in a Buffy episode; Connor Trinneer, John Billingsley and Ethan Phillips were all in Touched By an Angel; Brent Spiner was terrific in "Introducing Dorothy Dandrige". Marina Sirtis, Renee Auberjonois, Armin Shimmerman, John DeLancie also in StargateSG1; John DeLancie also in the short lived Legend with Richard Dean Anderson; Tim Russ was in SeaQuest. Colm Meaney reunited with Patrick Stewart in King of Texas

  5. I think you you might want to redo because - from reading other posts there are a lot of guys who like Hoshi. I expect Rand or Yar will get the lowest votes. Since I don't find any of them sexy. I voted for the person I would most like to look like - should I ever find a genie in a bottle (Seven of nine)

  6. In the ENT episode Civilization Hoshi specifically mentioned there were several languages on the planet. However, in general it has always bothered me that ST planets have a homogenized culture, language, etc. Klingons, Vulcans, Romulans basically the whole planet(s) is(are) unified

  7. This is totally off topic, but that just reminded me off it. Next time you have ants in your house don't use bug spray, use baby powder. It kills them almost instantly and it's safe to use around kids and pets. And it doesn't stink. That's a bonus. winker.gif

I think I'm going to have a hard time putting powder on a baby after reading that...but I'll try it.

So does anyone have a solution for catching lizards. One got in the other day and I haven't been able to track it down. I'm also terrified to touch the things to take them out.

  8. I was told that one way to get rid of fire ants is sprinkle grits on their mounds. They will take the grits down and when they eat it will absorb their body juices and expand - exploding the ant from the inside. I tried it once but it rained right after so I resorted to more drastic means.

  9. I tried to find the article online but it wasn't there - anyway here are some of the stereotypes which the author explains are false.

    1. Southerners only eat at Mom & Pop cafes frequented by colorful characters.

    2. All Southerners are either in prison or work at the prison

    3. All Southern law enforcement officers are white, male and mean.

    4. Southern courtrooms are saunas with ceiling fans

    5. All Southerners take part in civil war re-enactments

    6. Southerners keep only two pets - hound dogs and pigs.

He owns up to "All Southerners drink ice-tea" - I have to admit on this one I always wondered why it was Archer and not Trip that was the ice-tea fan.

Thalyn, sounds like you've had a disappointing experience with your neighbors. :innocent: LOL I am glad people have moved in from other states to make your life bearable. My personal experience has been that people in other regions aren't all that friendly or welcoming either. People in general are just too caught up in their own lives. But I pretty much get caught up in my life so I never really cared too much.

As for scary people with guns - well they're everywhere - Waco, Ruby Ridge, Coeur d'Alene, Montana Freemen.

My personal experience has been that in the South the biggest divide is not where you're from but what religion you are. I was born here and grew up here but I am not of the same faith as the rest of my family or the better part of this or any small southern town. My life would be so much easier if I was - I guess that would be my biggest source of grief from the South.

All in all I think most people are basically good, it's just the bad ones that get all the attention and seem to stick in our memories.

  10. Really interesting character.  Good ole' southern boy on the outside, but on the inside?  There's a lot more going on there than we've gotten to see, yet.  I'm really looking forward to watching his growth.

    I agree!

What's wrong with being a Southerner on the inside?

i dont think they meant anything bad by that. im sure they were just saying on the inside hes more than just a good 'ol southern boy, as a good thing, not saying anything bad about southern boys.

i would have to say there is more to him than just meets the eye.

Saying there is more to him than meets the eye is fine. But I guess I am a little sensitive to the the suggestion that Southern boys don't have depth, character or charm.

  11. Would Majel Roddenberry be one?  Unless you've included her in the original 7.

I totally spaced on that one: Plus the entire original cast didn't guest star in one of the spinoffs or in Generations. My mistake

    Leonard Nimoy - TNG

    DeForest Kelly - TNG

    James Doohan - TNG, Generations

    William Shatner - Generations

    Walter Koenig - Generations

That makes 9: and I just read on the home page that John Colicos had a guest appearance in DS9 so we're up to 10

  12. While looking up something else I came across this trivia bite in Paul Winfield's bio.

Is one of only 32 actors or actresses to have starred in both the original Star Trek (up to and including Star Trek VI:The Undiscovered Country) and then in one of the spin offs.

    Who are the other 31

I guess seven were the original cast

Diana Muldaur had two guest roles in TOS and a recurring in TNG.

Mark Lenard played Sarek in TOS and TNG

Clint Howard had guest roles in TOS and Enterprise.

    Who do you remember?

  13. Are you talking about the original or are you including the sequels? I know Kate Mulgrew played opposite Avery Brooks as a slave hunter. And John Shuck was in the original Roots and played guest roles in ST IV and a couple of series episodes. Tim Russ (Tuvok) was in Roots - The Gift

Paul Winfield was in Roots: The Next Generation and his trivia bite said this:

Is one of only 32 actors or actresses to have starred in both the original Star Trek (up to and including Star Trek VI:The Undiscovered Country) and then in one of the spin offs - Who are the other 31

  14. Have you ever heard someone speak with a Southern accent and maybe started thinking they're maybe not too bright? Don't be embarrassed - I have one and I still do it.

There was an article in the Florida Times Union yesterday about Southern stereotypes in films/tv. It was pretty funny but also kind of sad because I know some people take it at face value. They left out my regional favorite. All women from Florida it seems used to work as mermaids at Weeki Watchee - if I see that again in another movie I'll scream.

Anyway, in one of the other threads someone mentioned "Trip" was a good Southern boy on the outside but there was "more" to him on the inside. I'm sure they meant to compliment "Trip" but what's wrong with the insides of Southerners?

Have you ever noticed the stereotype?

    edited - added sentence

  15. Another from SG-1

I think it was the one where Jack and Teal'c were trapped in a Death Glider and somebody..can't recall who..asked Joseph if he could just..Beam Them Up with the Transport Rings.....or am I confusing two different episodes?

O'Neill said It to Jacob - Sam's father - and his reply was "Who am I Scotty?"

Also I really like when they were talking about names for the space ship and O'Neill wasn't happy with any of the choices and Carter said "Sir, they can't name it the Enterprise"
