1. The closest I have is USS Voyager and Enterprise A made out of paper - origami starships.

    Do any of you own any Star Trek ships or toys? I mean would you go all out to buy one?

  2. This really makes me sound like a warmonger. I've never looked at myself as a security sort of person. I was wondering if there was a bartender post.

    You would serve in starfleet as a Captain. You have a command position. You may have started your career in Starfleet by working in Security/Tactical. Any of the following positions could be available on a Starship:

    * Security Systems Management

    * Weapons Officer

    * Torpedo Room Officer

    * Chief Weapons Officer

    * Security Chief

    Behind every mission is the need to feel safe. Security personnel are always the first to arrive, and the last to leave. They understand that danger can come from any direction and are always prepared for the fight that may never come. Through this dedication, loyalty and attention to detail they give us this feeling of safety. We all appreciate this because underneath it is hope. The hope that we should all learn from our mistakes, face our fears and live long enough to appreciate the beauty the universe shows us every day.

  3. NO to the original question. I generally do not enjoy prequels. Although I do enjoy watching ENT, I'd prefer watchin ST in this order (excluding TAS):

    TOS

    TNG

    DS9

    VOY

    ENT

    I wonder if there ever would be TKS or TRS? They are short for The Klingon Series and The Romulan Series repectively. There's a book series based entirely on a Klingon ship and I won't mind watching one.

    You don't like prequuels yet want to see a show on the Klingon or Romulan wars? lol, last I checked at least one of those, Klingon, would be a prequel to one of the other series you listed. :P

    Amusing to see some bash Enterprise becasue they don't like prequel's, don't like the theme song, or don't like the actions of a single character (T'Pol) so want the entire series cancelled.

    Self-centered much?

    I never said I wanted a Klingon or Romulan war. I just thought mebbe a show based on an entire Klingon adventure.... or a Romulan adventure. Currently, its all about the human adventure. What better way to learn about your adversariess than to watch them on tv.... since I'm Klingon myself :P I could learn a whole lot of new Romulan tactics just by watching them.

    I'm not bashing ENT. In fact, I do try my best to watch it whenever its on just because its Star Trek. Even my wife thinks I'm nuts because I'd stay up at 2 am to watch it ... or even drive to my dad's house every other weekend before I had my satelite dish. Mebbe I'll rephrase meself..... I enjoy watching ENT although I'd prefer something post-Nemesis.... and most off all, I don't want ENT cancalled.

    I guess that's about it.

  4. I liked the Stargate movie but I never really got hooks to watching the series although I do like McGyver. He was a superhero with the magic Swiss Blade. Whenever I watch Stargate.... all I see is McGyver.

    You didn't watch enough - one day I was watching a rerun of McGuyver and thought hmmm there's Colonel O'Neill. :)

    Aside from the hero stuff - some very different characters.

    O'Neill hates scientists and solves everything with p-90

    313838

    Mebbe you're right. I'll try to watch it again someday. As of the moment, my sat tv isn't showing it yet.

  6. Might I add something....

    Whether Jolene B is a good actress or not... I really don't know. I don't recall seeing her on any other show other than ENT. I suppose the only serial I watch is Star Trek.

    Anyway, did she played T'Pol "arrogantly" on purpose or is she naturally arrogant? I can't remember any other Vulcans who are as arrogant except mebbe the Vulcan Captain that played baseball against DS9 crew... Captain What'sHisName?

    Really the only reason I don't like T'Pol is because she is arrogant. She makes me feel like she really looks down on us humans. And mind you... we certainly aren't puny but that's what I think her action says. I really don't like it when she says we humans got a bad BO. I don't think Spock ever said that to Kirk. Mebbe its because I keep comparing her with Spock and Sarek and other nice Vulcans.

    However, if Jolene purposely played T'Pol arrogantly, then I'd say Jolene did a good job at it.

    In the end, I still think Spock rocks!

    All IMO...

    Edited section:

    And another thing... its a bit off topic but it still concerns Vulcans.

    I don't know much about T'Pol and Trip cos I haven't reached that episode yet. I was just thinking.... off all the Star Trek shows out there... I think the most meaningful, honourable and bestest of the best relationship Star Trek ever portrayed is between Kirk and Spock. Please, I'm not gay, don't get me wrong. I'm just saying its tells us a lot about multi-racial relationship. Friendship that goes beyond the colour of our blood. (It used to be the coloour of our skin).

    Again, I'm just sharing my opinion.

  7. I was reading through the posts in this thread and I had a crazy idea. Why not have a dwarf actor to play a Captain?? I was reading about Josh Ryan Evans during the week - he was on Passions and played the role of Timmy, the living doll. He was also on Ally McBeal, playing a child lawyer who gave Ally a hard time. He was a dwarf but sadly he died in 2002. Can anyone imagine a dwarf Captain? It would definitely make things very interesting. I couldn't imagine Madonna as Captain though, she isn't a very convincing actor at the best of times.

    Madam Captain out!!

    312788

    Are you talking a human captain or an alien captain played by an actor/actress who is a dwarf?

    If you are talking human, I would assume dwarfism no longer exists by TOS time at the latest. If you are talking a pre-TOS or pre-Enterprise series, would someone who is a dwarf be able to join Starfleet? I'm assuming there are some sort of height and medical restrictions that make it impossible for individuals with dwarfism to join the military now and I doubt that would change in the future.

    You mean you'd like Captain Gimli son of Gloin, member of the Fellowship of the Ring to be Captain. Well, lets have 1st Officer Legolas.

  8. You know.... its people like Spock that makes me love Vulcans. Then again... its T'Pol that makes me hate them. Either her scripts are bad or she really showed them in a pretty bad light - imo

  9. So, an alien sits as president of UFP on earth, home of the humans and yet, the Preator of the Romulan empire happened to be human. Mebbe a Trible should be Chancellor of the Klingon empire. Weird... just weird. I hope we'll see a human president soon.

  10. if the ship is designed for Combat, then the 1250 include not only the people manning the combat systems (Weapons, sheilds, sensors, countermeasure, and defensive systems) but also important non-combattant roles, such as medical aide, Damage Control, and the like. I know in the Navy, everyone is a firefighter, and I would expect Starfleet would have similar requirements, such as everyone be able to put out a fire, or help fix a damaged bulkhead or something.

    Just wondering...

    How many does it actually take to fly a starship? I mean minimum number of people. Lets say, for a Sovereign class, a Galaxy, Excelsior, Constitution, Intrepid and Defiant class? In real life, how many does it actually take to man an aircraft carrier? SSN? or a Destroyer in the Navy?

    310469

    I suppose one can't just turn the key and drive the starship away.

    What you refere to is the Skeleton Crew, the minimum number of personnel required for a ship to conduct it's job. I'd say the general rule is probably 1/5 to 1/10 the normal crew load, depending on how much automation a ship has. a Galaxy class Starship may be able to operate with a Skeleton Crew of 100. a Navy Guided Missile Cruiser, probably 90-100. it just depends on the design.

    310484

    Deltans!

    310467

    Then humanity could spend the next few century being taken advantage of by a sexually superior race. (and love every minute of it, but we would be too 'busy' to ever explore space :P )

  11. Sam Neill and Sigourney Weaver would both be excellent in Trek.

    Yeah, I think Weaver would make a good captain. Do you think she'd be better than Janeway?

    I don't understand this "Madonna" thing though. In any movie she has been in, she has never showed any acting talent. "Evita" doesn't count, since that was a singing role, which is more her style.

    310555

    Mebbe she could be a holographic entertainer like the one on DS9

    I wouldn't want any known actor to be the lead character. If a new series was made I'd rather see them go with an unknown cast for the most part.

    310588

    Why not?

    Ed O'Neil

    and I would Love to See Britney Spears as a Borg

    310606

    I've never really seen Spears acting but I think either Spears or Lopez would look good in a suit like Seven's

  12. I have a very weird idea.... Just close your eyes, and imagine that the computer's voice is not Majel Barrett, but instead....Christopher Walken!

    310475

    roflol! My colleagues are wondering what I'm laughing about.

    About Harrison Ford. He reminds me of Jack Ryan. That's why I thought in line with Section 31. Then again he could also be a Star Trek archeologist looking for some neat Vulcan artifact. But I think he'll be more suited to a Captain aboard a smuggling freighter.

    I was also thinking. Pre Nemesis era. Lets substitute The Russians with Romulans and Red October with Romulan Warbird trying to defect and enter Federation Space. The Klingons naturally want to blow it out of the sky but someone in Starfleet Intel - say Lt. Commander Jack Ryan of Sectin 31 - is willing to give the Warbird a chance. I think this will only work with the Rumulans because they can cloak. We could also think in terms of TOS era.

    Oh well, there are so many possibilities and so many "if only". Seriously, what can we fans do to get someone like Clancy to write Star Trek?

    Mebbe Antonio Banderas can be head of Section 31.

  13. You know, you're right again. I sure would like to see Arnie as a Cardie Thug. I love Red October too and I'm going to get my hands on Crimson Tide soon. What's it all about anyway? No don't tell me. I'm going to watch Tide.

    If only ST movies are made like some great Submarine movies out there. I wonder what it would be like if Tom Clancy gets to write a Star Trek Novel. That would be swell! I suppose ST movies can't be like Submarine movies cos the Feds don't have cloaks, unless its about the Romulans.

    Really, I could help laughing about the Cardie Thug. Mebbe Harrison can be part of Starfleet Intel.
