  1. Who?  :dude:

    354130[/snapback]

    Feeling old Kor?

Lloyd Bridges played Commander Cain in the original BSG - he was quite a famous actor - had a series called Sea Hunt in the fifties and was in High Noon. He passed away several years ago but has a couple of sons in the business, Beau & Jeff.

Back to Michelle Forbes - I saw she was in this and almost watched it because of that but since I've only seen the first two eps this season I figured I would be way too lost. I liked Ro, I could sympathize with her position in TNG.

Wish they could get Forbes to guest star on SG1.

Hey, I used to watch that too when I was only ... seven or eight

  2. I picked Q although I didn't like him at first... Its more like I hate that guy! He's so irritating and I really ... really... wish something bad would happen to that character.... That's why I eventually grew to love Q. Like some has said ... Q is just someone you'd love to hate. John de Lancie is superb for that role! Now everytime I see him, I'd think Q.

  3. I love the strips.... they just remind me of ourselves sometimes.

Talk about comics. I was in the bookstore the other day and was just browsing. I saw loads of Star Wars comics... DC comics... Marvel.... Anime... Archie... Conan.. General Grevious stuff... but I didn't see any Star Trek comics! I was dissappointed. I was wondering if there are any Star Trek comic series ever published? or sold in your area? I think it would be a good market.

  4. Here I'd say Picard, because of the violation of his whole being.

If it was a vote between Picard and Sisko, I'd still say Picard.

Between Sisko and Janeway, Sisko for losing his wife.

Then there was also Guinan although nothing much was shown about her experience with the Borg.

  5. Yes, I enjoy fan fiction although I am very choosey or picky about them. I never read slash or eroctic fan fic. I totally avoid romantic fan fiction. I do not know how to appreciate literature that describes romantic emotions or relationships as the primary plot. I enjoy romance plots if only its a minor sub plot. I do not read Sues. I love crossovers.

I've read loads of fan fic and I've come across some really excellent once. I've wondered why they've not managed to publish their own.

One site I've enjoyed going is fanfcition.net. I find loads of lousy writers there but there are a couple who are excellent. One particular good writer would be AlbertG (pen name only). Another site I like is Orion Press.

Generally, I prefer male writers. Ladies tend to write about stuff I'm not interested in. Even in the real world, I prefer books written by the guys, with the exception of Diane Duane. I'm not saying the ladies are not good. Their work are normally not my cup of tea.

I like some new ships, but not always. New tech is good. Great conflicts between characters that doesn't have to be romantic. It could be moral conficts or political onces. I find guys are better at writing about interstellar political conflicts or dark stuff . That's good for me. I like them. I like writers who can make me love or hate a certain character or a particular race, or just put in on the edge. I like stories laced with tragegy... e.g. characters going through a divorce or death of a spouse or child as a sub plot. Murder or even espionage.

Mebbe that explains why I like Generation where most considered it a weak movie. I liked it because of the tragedy Picard had to face and the conflicts it presented. I liked the Sisko character about him having to raise a child alone and losing his wife. It did lead to him marrying Kass bit the focus was his pain and how he handled it. These are the examples I like to see in fan fic.

Well, there's a lot more to write about but I understand that my cup of earl grey could be someone else's cup of poison. So yes, I do love and enjoy fan fiction. There was once, when I don't have any ST books and TV doesn't show ST, I had to live on fan fic alone.

  6. I can't say I didn't like VOY or ENT or DS9.... What I can say is that I enjoyed them all, regardless of when they came on screen. Its just that I enjoyed TOS and TNG more than DS9... which is more than VOY which is more than ENT. In a mathematical equation, it would be like this:

    I like TOS > TNG > DS9 > VOY > ENT

What's done is done. I think Trek would do better in the next series after they make the fans starve a couple of year. Come to think of it, how did 007 movies survive so long? Its probably the only other movie-series that is older than Trek and has more movies than Trek.

**wonders, "What in the world am I blabbering about?"**

  7. Kirk

Seemed to be a guy who relied on his cunning rather than firepower.

    Picard

Always tried diplomacy first, but never hesistated to use firepower when all else had failed.

    Sisko

The most trigger happy. But then again his environment dictated an aggressive attitude.

    * Since VOY and ENT totally suck, I have ignored the existence of Janeway and Archer.

Funny. I always thought Picard was more cunning.

  8. I'll be 40ish by the time 10 years have passed. I don't think I have a lifespan like a Vulcan so 10 years is a long time, but I'll feed on the Star Trek books around. It doesn't matter when a new series will come back or a new movie.... I intend to be there when it does.

  9. Does this include TMP or just the series? If it does, I'll go for the Deltan girl. I think its something to do with her being bald. I can't remember her name but I'll check it out tonight.
