  1. I'm the only one in my family... neighbourhood... ring of buddies... at work, church..... who loves Star Trek. My da doesn't watch TV unless its news. My ma watches anyting but Star Trek. She thinks I'm a Star Trek fanatic. My brother watches other things.

My wife thinks I need help. When we had our son, I wanted to name him either Jean Luc or James Kirk. She utterly refused. I tried Hikaru and Pavel, and she thinks I'm really nuts. We settled for Jacob.

My son is ... well, I'll be introducing Star Trek when he starts talking. My friends also think I'm nuts. The only friend I have who watches Star Trek only watches it because he wants to own every episode with Seven. Heck the bloke wants to own her. Its a lonely world here. At least she's agreed to buy me USS Enterprise (the model) this Christmas :waaaa:

My sister in law says I should join StarTrekFan Annonymous... lol

What about you all? What do your families think about Star Trek? How did you get hooked to it?

  2. Off all the greatest villians in ST history.... No 1 goes to Khan. No 2 goes to Shinzon.... No 3 goes to Kai Winn.

I think who ever created DS9 and put Winn there knows very well how to exploit her to create one of the greatest, if not the greatest, conflicts in ST history as well as any other shows I know. She has successfully allowed hate to grow and fester in us towards her throughout the shows and even after DS9 has completed. One difference between Winn and other ST villians, we sort of like the other villians. We don't get too emotional about them but as for Winn, our negative emotions just keeps on growing the more we see her mess around. Sometimes I wish I could just take my duster and pretend its a phaser and shot my TV when she's on.

  3. When I saw "Football", I thought you meant as the Europeans do when they say football... meaning soccer. I didn't vote for any cos I can't understand American football.... I would have voted for Manchester United, Jeventus and Real Madrid.... and Flamengos.... lol

  4. Wow! That was a fast reply. Thanks. I didn't expect one until tomorrow.

If you're right... why are such good technology banned? I sometimes just can't understand Federation policies.

The "cloaked" ship would be in a different "reality" but won't whatever happened in that "reality" have an effect in normal space. Lets say if the tech is feasible, then a Fed starship can travel deep into Romulan space or other hostile territory without being detected. It would "theoretically" be like one US submarine deep in Chinese waters. No surface ship would be able to see it unless it surfaces. Likewise, no one can see the starship until it returns to normal space. Would this be right?

  5. I have a question and been thinking. Hope someone can put a light to it.

There is an episode where there were mines all around a siege area in DS9. can't remember the name of the episode. Anyway, there were mines all around and our DS Niners could not detect them cos the mines hide in subspace. Anyone remember the name of the episode? Weren't they called houdinis or something?

Anyway, that means there's technology to actually hide something in subspace. Is it possible to hide a whole starship in subspace following the same principle the houdinis are hiding? I'm not very good at ST Tech so I need some help here. Somehow, when someone hits or touches one of these mines, they get killed. Could a starship also hide in there, thus effectively "cloaking" the ship?

Another question. The Jem Hadar had shrouding tech. Why doesn't the Feds ever learn the tech and employ it on their own staff for dangerous missions?

I hope my questions don't make me sound silly. I humbly thank everyone who can help me here.

  6. I voted Picard. We have seen him beat Locutus and the Borg a couple of times so we'll not discuss how they'd fare if they have a fist fight or a battle of tactics. I was looking a other different angles:

First, lets put Picard and Locutus in a men's beauty contest. Picard would surely win cos he looks definately better than Locutus.

Then lets test and see who kisses better. We'll have 10 ladies randomly picked from this forum to judge if Picard or Locutus is a better kisser. I'd say Picard is a Frenchman and he certainly has mastered french kissing. Unfortunately for Locutus, he may kiss well, but there's no passion in it. He does it mechanically.

Put them both on an island together and see who would be the ultimate Survivor. Picard is cunning and would probably make alliance with other members of his tribe. He will at least make it to the last 3. Locutus on the other hand, would tell everyone that resistance is futile. Everyone else are irritated with that and vote him out.

Now, lets make them Ambassadors. Picard is very diplomatic in many ways. He has made numerous first contact successfully. All Locutus would say in a diplomatic mission would be Resistance is Futile.

Picard has a part time job in a school for the gifted as Prof. Xavier. Locutus only works for Borg Queen. He has only one job. If he loses it, Locutus will be jobless. He'll be living off social welfare.

Picard has great imagination - Dixon Hill. I've never seen Locutus have a recreation or a life.

With Picard's good looks, he used to have loads of girlfriends and admirers, until Mrs Picard came along. He's got a family now. I'm sure there would be Picard Jr. I have never seen Locutus secure a date. Heck, even 7 of 9, Hugh and a couple of Borg kids left his club. Besides, I don't find any Mrs. Locutus.

Well, I suppose these are some other angles we can see how Picard is better than Locutus.

  :) :o

  7. I'm not sure if there is a topic or poll in this yet but which era or series uniform do you like best?

I like the uniform worm during the TOS movies best, the one my worn on Sulu in my Avatar. Those mini-skirts of Uhura really rocks. I'd like to see Seven in one of those.

  8. Now that I think about it,to heck with Troi and Yar.....

I want Dr.Selar! We could go to Quark's and rent a holosuite....

    Vulcan Love Slave:The Revenge!!!!

    63126[/snapback]

Everyone in the office is wondering what wrong with me bursting out laffing my head off...

Anyway, between the two, I'd choose Yar. She's tough and she is pretty good looking. I really don't like Troi's uniform. Its really.... If its about all the ST babes, I'd choose Torres. Those Klingon ridges are cute.

  9. With Q, anything could happen. I won't want the timeline messed up but I'd like to see the Ent messed up. I agree with Admiral Kirk. Q could appear as a regular fella, mebbe more than an episode. Viewers should know who he is but not the crew.

  10. I picked BOTH but if I have to pick either one without the "Both" option, I'd pick Sulu and the Excelsior. I really miss TOS and there can never be enough TOS around.

I'm not saying I won't watch Riker and Titan. Its just that I'd go with Sulu if I had to choose between the two. You know, come to think of it, there should be a film about Chekov and "insert ship's name here". Does anyone know what happened to Chekov after ... well, Generations? I just can't believe he became PsiCorp for B5.

  11. I voted for theatrical movie but seriouly, I voted that because there wasn't any "other" choice. Here are my thoughts on it:

I'd rather watch another TNG movie than either a Voy or DS9 movie. No offence there. However, it would be better to wait awhile before making another ST movie unless it is a sure sure sure box office.

A possible way we can have a Voy movie is if Admiral Janeway finds out something that possibly threatens the Federation or Alpha Quadrant... (I don't know what that something is but let the producers decide)... Perhaps she found that out through Q. BTW, I can't remember seeing Q on any of the movies.

No one believes her and she "illegally" pursuades her former crew to join her and steal her old ship and points at a star, orders helm to warp off to face this new threat.

I think this might work... except that stealing a Starship has already been done in Search for Spock.... but that would be a better reunion for Voy. What do you guys think?

As for DS9 movie.... I really can't think of a way to make a movie for it cos Sisko vanished and the only way I can see a movie happen if he returns for the wormhole limbo.

'Nuff said.... a reminder - these are just my thoughts. No offence intended.

  12. I wonder why nobody ever thought of starting a new ST movie based on a new ship and crew... plus the mixed crew from TNG, Voy and DS9. Obviouly they can't put any ENT ones there.

The movie got to be something really dramatic and yet action-packed. Its got to also be very thought provoking that mebbe addresses some current issues (I don't know, mebbe terrorism or fanaticism or something). And its got to have some good monsters (something I read from the monster thread).

From here, they could decide to make a series later if the movie turns out well.

I mean, why do the movies have to be after the series. Can't we start a movie first then think of the series. That would be a change.
