- That driver of mine that got into an accident came home from the hospital the other day. He has about a year of painful physical therapy ahead of him.

- Its a beautiful day today so I'm going to work on the car for awhile.

- I bought tickets to see "Blondie" next month. One of the few Classic Rock bands I've never seen.

- I picked up my guitar the other day. Its been a long time since I've played it so the strings hurt my fingers a bit. All the callouses I had from playing it were gone. If I play a bit every day, the callouses should form again in about 2 weeks or so.

- I'm still in negotiations with two different companies about buying them out. I'm taking it slow and trying not to rush into it.

- I've been getting estimates from several companies about turning part of my front yard into a parking pad for all of my vehicles. I'm in no rush for that either but I do want to get it done by mid-summer.

- We are still waiting to hear word from the US Geological Survey about whether they will give Eric an internship for the summer. We can't make vacation plans until we know whats up with that.

- The engine bay of the Road Runner is finally sanded. Now its just a matter of fixing some of the high and low spots and we can apply the paint. We were going to do that today but since its been pouring down rain all day, we are going to wait until tomorrow.

- A friend and I went to Hooters today to watch a little baseball and eat some wings. Good stuff!

-The new headers I ordered for the Road Runner came in today!!! I got some ceramic coated headers. They are as shiny as chrome and will never rust. They cost me over $800 but I just couldn't see putting the motor back into the car with a set of rusty headers.

- Went to the gym and overdid it a bit today. My entire body aches.......

- My poor father-in-law is back in the nursing home. He had a stroke about 8 years ago and he's been getting worse. He can no longer walk. For the last year, its been this circular route from his house to the hospital to the nursing home and back to his house. Every other month, its the same thing. I really feel sorry for him because its no way to live. I'd rather get run over by a bus than go through what he's going through. My wife is trying to put on a good face about it but I know this is killing her inside.

Let me see if I understand owner-ship of a car like yours, it spends years in the shop getting fixed. You finally get it back and drive it for a few months then it goes back in the shop for months/years(?) again. That about right?

No....thats wrong. Remember Tom Paris in the holodeck working on a 1969 Camaro? Did he do it because the holographic car needed fixing? No....he did it because he found tinkering on cars to be enjoyable.

My car is not getting fixed. There was nothing wrong with it. I pick a project to do every winter to enhance the car. This year's project involved three main things:

1) Clean and paint the engine bay. I wanted the engine bay to be just as shiny as the outside of the car. In order to win consistently at car shows, your engine bay has to be spotless.

2) Install hemi bands (for strength and durability) and a Stall Converter (allows the transmission to more quickly turn torque into power) in the transmission.

3) Install a bigger camshaft into the motor. I figured since I had to pull the motor out of the car to do the engine bay, why not take the opportunity to make the car faster.

So......whats been happening?

- After being sanded and primered 3 times, the engine bay on the car has finally been painted. Everything else should go fairly quickly now.

- I drove my mother to the airport yesterday. She is flying to Minnesota to spend some time with my sister.

- My wife flew to Maine this past Thursday to help Eric pack up his dorm room and put most of his stuff in storage for the summer. Both of them are flying home today. I'll be picking them up at the airport this afternoon.

- I gave flowers to all of the women who are mothers that work for me today. I still haven't bought any for my wife! Gotta get some before she flies back home today!

- Eric didn't get the internship at the Geologic Institute that he wanted. Tough break. Now he has to find a part-time job for the summer.

- I made arrangements for my annual company crab feast that I do for my employees every year.

Move over here and I'll give you a job.......

I just got a great thought. I'm going to dress up in my tux when I pick my wife and son up at the airport. I'll stand there holding a sign up with their names on it so they seem all important. This will be a hoot!

My welcome home for my wife and son went great. I put on my tux and made a professional looking sign with their names on it. I got a couple of weird looks at the airport but the looks on my wife and son's faces were priceless. They got a big kick out of it.

Tomorrow, Eric and I are going to see Iron Man. Afterwards, we are going to try to find a sumemr job for him.

Lets see..... whats new?

- We have still not been able to paint the engine bay of the Road Runner because of the constant rain. It looks like we will have at leat 5 days of good weather so I am determined to get this done hopefully this weekend.

- My wife and I have been getting the house and grounds ready for our annual Memorial Day cook-out. Tons of people are expected so I gotta get my grilling arm in shape!

- Eric is still trying to find a summer job.

- It looks like we have our vacation destination picked out for this year. We will be going to Deadwood, SD as well as Mount Rushmore and Custer National Park.

- Eric and I saw the new Indiana Jones movie today. Excellent movie! I expected a huge line at the theater but there were only about 6 people in the theater besides us.

So lets see whats new:

- The engine bay of the Road Runner has finally been painted..... :congrats: It looks fantastic. Its almost shinier than the outside of the car! Now its just a matter of putting the motor and transmission back in and it will be finished.

- I saw Blondie in concert this past Thursday. Debbie Harry still sings great but she looks every second of her 62 years! I enjoyed it though. For the younger members, Blondie was a huge band in the late 1970s and throughout the 1980s.

- I have made all of the reservations for our vacation. So far, our plans are to fly into Rapid City, SD and rent an SUV for the drive to Deadwood. We will be arriving in Deadwood during the last weekend of their annual "Days of '76 Celebration" so lots will be going on. We will see the sites and go to a rodeo on Sunday. I booked us a great suite in a casino/hotel smack in the center of town so we won't have to drive too much while in Deadwood. On Tuesday we will drive north a bit to take part in a one day Dinosaur Dig. Its a 12 hour thing where they drive you to the middle of nowhere and you dig for dinosaur fossils all day. The people in charge say that we will certainly come away with something. We will be digging in an ancient dried up riverbed where lots of dinosaurs died. Apparently, the place is full of fossils. The only thing I'm not looking forward to here is the 125 degree heat and no restrooms! The following day, we will drive south to Mount Rushmore, the Crazy Horse memorial and Custer's battlefied. I got us a great suite in a hotel right at the base of Mt. Rushmore so that should be fun. I'm sure that there will be other things to do once we get there as well.

- Now that the heat has finally arrived, we are finally opening our pool for the year.

- I got my Klingon Feast tickets to the Shore Leave Convention coming up next month. I'm looking forward to this con and the chance to meet some Startrekfans members.

cool you got to see Blondie in concert. "Heart of Glass" is probably my favorite Blondie song. They did an interesting remake of the Johnny Cash song "Ring of Fire" on the movie Roadies

Kor, you don't have to explain to me about Blondie . . . but I prefer STYX myself . . . I am a child of the late 60's and the 70's after all !

- Putting the motor back into the Road Runner has been delayed a few days because they sent me the wrong pushrods for the engine........ :yahoo:

- This Thursday I'm going to Virginia to see the world's greatest Beatles tribute band, called RAIN. Put your tongue back in your mouth, Kevin. The Beatles rock. I don't care what you say....... :)

I'm really looking forward to this. They put on a great stage show.

- We had a nice Father's day. We gave my father a new chais lounger for his back yard. Then we went to the nursing home to visit my father-in-law. Everyone brought some food and we had a nice picnic dinner with him. My wife and son gave me some very nice shirts, too.

- My son and I are planning to see "The Hulk" movie today. Has anyone seen it yet?

These are some shots of the motor finally back in the Road Runner.

In other news:

- I went to see RAIN at Wolf Trap in Northern Virginia on Thursday night. The place was packed and it was a great show!

- Only a few weeks until Shore Leave here in Baltimore. Can't wait to meet some of the other forum members.

What carbs are you using? Don't you just hate it when you order parts and they send you the wrong ones? What CID ? Inquiring MOPARheads want to know . . .

My little '73 Duster had standard brakes and power steering too - disk or drum? my Flower was a rare 4 wheel drum . . .

While you can, see if you can find the caps that hold the wiper linkage - it will come in handy. 3 or 4 row going back in?

Its 3 Holley carbs totalling 1200 cfm. Its the standard 6-pack set-up with the hi-rise Edelbrock manifold.

As for brakes, I have front disk and rear drums.

Are you a Fl Gator fan or is the color off on those photos? Is that the same car in your sig?

Its the same car as in my sig although I've changed the hood. The color is the original color. The popular name for the color is "Hemi Orange" although the technical name of it "Tor Red".

So whats new?

- The motor is all hooked up in the Road Runner. We got the transmission back and it will go in maybe tomorrow. We checked out the new ceramic headers I bought and found that they were a tad too long. So we'll be cutting the exhaust pipes back a bit so they will fit. The car should be on the road by this weekend.

- I've had a construction crew over at Casa Kor all week putting in a parking pad in the front yard.

- I'm still waiting for my Shore Leave tickets to come in. I've got the Klingon Feast tickets but not the tickets to the con itself yet.

- I went to a friend's house for a cook-out yesterday. Drank WAAY too much beer and I'm paying for it today..... :superhappy:

- Work is really picking up. I got a whole bunch of new accounts which will require me starting a 2nd shift of drivers. I'm planning on launching that in about two weeks.
