  1. This is a good resource to check out, it will tell you how to disable the windows messenger and prevent pop-ups from coming through your system.

    Read the website for further details. (This site was made for the University of Virginia but it is valid for everyone.)

    http://www.itc.virginia.edu/desktop/docs/messagepopup/

    Are you referring to regular pop-up ads that annoy you when visiting certain websites, or are you referring to the Windows Messenger pop-ups that drive anybody using Windows XP crazy? There is another website that tells you how to get rid of both: www.techtv.com.

  2. As I stated in another thread concerning this subject, I'm sure Jorel, cawlevent and all other persons involved in this fan film discussed the legalities of the issue before undertaking a project of this magnitude. Judging from what I see on their website and the trailer, these people must be very intelligent to create such an awesome project, so they must know what they are doing and what the consequences may or may not be. I, for one, am ecstatic that they are bringing my heroes back to life, and plan on downloading and viewing every single episode of New Voyages as soon as they are available. If the worst case scenario does indeed come to pass, I'll be glad to donate to their legal fund as well. Live long and prosper New Voyages!!!

  3. That episode also made television history by broadcasting the first interracial kiss between William Shatner and Nichelle Nichols. I heard some TV stations in the Bible Belt refused to broadcast it!

  4. I'm no good at carving pumpkins, but my father has created some of the best jack-o-lanterns I have ever seen. He can make them scary, funny, or whatever way you like them. He used to carve them for me when I was a child and for my son when he was little. So, here's my question. If I can persuade my father to carve a jack-o-lantern this year, can I take a pic of it and enter it in the contest? He's not a board member but he is mrskirk's dad! Even if it doesn't win, I'd like to show off my dad's talents to all my friends. What do you say?

  5. Sounds like you've pretty much built an entire new PC for yourself. Way to go!! I'm not that bold. I would like a faster PC but I'm too chicken to go inside the tower. I'm looking to purchase a laptop for space reasons and I'd like at least a 2G Pentium 4 processor with a minimum of 512K RAM. Just gotta wait until I'm back to work!

  6. I'm kinda afraid to change mine because I fear that I won't get my present one back! It's not one of the regular avatar selections on the site. I noticed it as a screen shot on one of VBG's Trek Tributes and I asked him if he could convert the screen shot in to an avatar for me, which he gallantly did. If I change it, I'd hate to have to bug him again to recreate it, especially in light of the PC issues he's now experiencing.

  7. Sounds like somebody didn't back up! Mortal TechTV sin!! No offense intended bossman--sounds like what happened to you really sucks!! My computer came with Windows XP preinstalled and I haven't had a problem with it at all. What were you upgrading from, 98 or ME? I've heard those upgrading from ME to XP have had some problems unless they do a complete reinstall instead of an upgrade. That's because ME sucks. Another issue I've heard about is the fact that alot of people don't know that XP runs on a completely different file format than the older (home) versions of Windows. The older versions use FAT32 where XP uses NTFS, which is based on the old Windows NT business operating system. While setting up Windows XP, you are given the option of using either FAT32 (for compatibility with older software) or NTFS (for reliability and stability). I of course opted for NTFS since my computer was brand new and I hadn't yet installed anything. But I'm sure you knew all that already. I just like to type. Hope you're back online soon!

  8. Jorel and Cawlevent;

    I just visited your website and viewed the trailer and, in my opinion, IT ROCKED! I already have your site bookmarked in my favorite folders in anticipation of the December release of your first episode. I, for one, am completely behind you and all your castmates! I think it's great that somebody is providing us oldsters who miss TOS a chance to get a fix now and then. I also believe you deserve kudos for agreeing to accept story ideas and scripts from viewers. It hearkens back to the days when TOS was still in production and Gene Rodenberry did just that, until the lawyers ruined it for everybody involved. I don't think you'll be sued, and you all deserve a medal! I will be viewing and downloading as many episodes as you and your talented crew will grace us with. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!

    CJLP;

    I know you were just trying to give these talented people a word of warning, but I'm sure they discussed all the legalities before undertaking a project of this magnitude. This project is obviously a labor of love, and the website as well as the trailer contain many disclaimers. I'm sure the episodes will, too. If you are worried about you yourself getting in trouble, might I suggest not visiting the website or downloading any episodes? You would be missing something wonderful, but you won't have any legal worries that way.

  9. Survivor: 2030--Sixteen complete strangers selected from auditions all over the galaxy will be stranded on the desert planet Seti Alpha 5 for a period of three months. They will need to survive and their wits and charm as one person will be voted off the planet by the others every week. The remaining Survivor will will one million bars of latinum!

  10. I didn't really miss Tasha after Denise Crosby left, either. As many previous posts have indicated, her departure left room for Worf to shine. Oh, and regarding Sela...didn't she appear in an episode of DS9? I'm pretty sure she appeared during the Dominion War story arc. I seem to remember the Romulans were trying to ally with the Dominion and I thought there was an episode where Sela is seen conspiring with Weyoun to defeat the Federation. Am I imagining that? Help me out fellow Trekkies!

  11. I voted for Earthquake. I loved the way the sound system in the theater simulated the rumbling and shaking of an earthquake every time a quake happened on screen! When I saw the movie way back when, I thought that was really cool! Only problem is, when I saw the movie a few years later on TV without the elaborate sound system, it just wasn't the same!!

  12. TOS:

    "I love you"-- Spock

    Ummm..not to be nitpicky or anything but Spock did speak those words to Leila Kolami when he was under the influence of the spores in....oh crap my memory is failing me now...I think the episode name was "This Side of Paradise."

  13. I added the Logitech Elite Duo to my PC. It's a wireless keyboard and mouse package. The mouse is optical with three buttons and a scroll wheel...right click, left click and a button on the left side of the mouse for double clicks. Best mouse I've ever used so I voted optical. Only one complaint regarding the mouse I'm using now...it eats batteries!

  14. Sorry about the confusion folks. I never said there was a TNG mirror universe EPISODE. What I meant is that I read a NOVEL where the TNG characters went to the mirror universe. The mirror universe Troi was able to kill people with her mind. I just can't remember the name of the book.

  15. I also have a life, and Star Trek is a part of it. I enjoy Trek because it portrays a future where people are not judged by the color of their skin or what gender they are. It portrays a future where mankind explores the galaxy and is enriched by, or gets their *buttocks* kicked by, other intelligent species who do indeed exist out there. I especially enjoy TOS because the episodes had an underlying message which teaches and enlightens us even almost 40 years after the episodes were originally broadcast. My life has been enriched by meeting fellow fans of Star Trek who, for the most part, are the friendliest and most compassionate people I've ever met. That's why I find myself spending hours in front of my PC, visiting this site!
