  1. The Sci-Fi Channel Has Gone To Crap.

Hear Hear!!! I used to love the Sci-Fi channel! They used to show classic sci-fi TV series from the 50's and 60's..the original Twilight Zone and Outer Limits along with Night Gallery, as well as a rare gem which I haven't seen before or since, One Step Beyond. Maybe these shows fit the "horror" genre rather than science fiction, but I loved to watch them in the middle of the night! Now the channel shows cheapie "B" junk.

  2. I voted fan. I have seen every TOS episode multiple times, and I saw all the Trek movies on opening night at the theatres. I went back to the theater at least twice for the first 6 movies (my record is 5 times for TWOK). The Next Gen movies I only went to the theatre once. I watched the Next Generation and Voyager on TV but I haven't seen every single episode. I didn't care for DS9 and so far Enterprise hasn't impressed me. I do own a model of the bridge of the original Enterprise complete with a tiny Kirk, Spock and Sulu. I DO NOT own a Starfleet uniform or pointed ears.

  3. Well, the first thing you need to do is to make sure you haven't joined any "book of the month" clubs lately. Like The UnicornHunter said, many clubs (music and books) will send you their "selection of the month" unsolicited. It's up to you to return them before a specific date, or you will be charged for them. If you haven't joined any clubs, and these books just showed up, the law says you don't have to pay for them. Do your research or your credit rating could be shredded!!

  4. I like the idea of featuring a different colony every week. For those people who want regular characters they can relate to, the core characters of the series can be the crew of a small Starfleet supply ship. These 5 or 6 core characters can be visiting a different planet or colony every week during their supply runs, and experience different adventures with each colony they visit to resupply. The possibilities are endless!

  5. Here's mine....I wrote it, and played all the music, and did all the backup vocals.

Jammin' tune but....ahhhh...ouch! The ex sounds like a she-devil who ripped your heart out and stomped on it. Hope things are going better for you now than when you wrote that tune.

  6. Hate to tell you guys but the season has already begun for REAL football.  We are into week 8 of the Canadian Football League season.  You'll hear no complaints about playing in blizzard in October/November (that's home field advantage to our guys!), no complaints about playing in 32F weather in November (that's downright balmy - our players wouldn't even be wearing long sleeve shirts for that

:) Sounds like a home game at Lambeau Field! They don't call it the frozen tundra for nothing! No wimpy domes for us! Go Pack!

  7. I did a search for it on the net, and all I found were links to message boards of people that said the exact same thing that you did. There doesnt appear to be any information on the net about it.

To borrow a phrase...fascinating. I just might jump over to techtv.com and start a thread on the ScreenSavers message board about this. The posters on that board are pretty computer savvy and might know a thing or two about this. I mean, if the RIAA is installing trojans on people's computers, isn't that an invasion of privacy issue?

  8. Mrskirk, I registerred at TrekBBS over 2 weeks ago.  I'm still waiting for my registration to be "approved" so I can post.  I did the confirmation e-mail and everything.  Can you help me out?

Hmmm...can't imagine what the hold up is CJLP. When I registered my confirmation came through in minutes. Try sending an e-mail to Lisa, she's the board admin. I'm sure her addy is listed on the boards somewhere.

  9. Oh,I'm totally serious.Seventy-six bucks for a dirty car!The exact same cop(looks like Porky from the movie Porky's)was giving this old man a hard time yesterday at a neighborhood store. Now this old man sits on a bench in front of the store all the time,he's done it for years and never bothers anybody. The store doesn't have a problem with him, either. But this Highway Patrol butthead was badgering him about loitering and I basically told him to leave the guy alone. My mistake I guess. The idiot that gave me the ticket was the same slob. And he'll get away with it,too.I am not gay but I live in a well known "gay" area in my hometown. The cops just love cruising through and busting everybody's chops, because as far as they're concerned everybody who lives here, from the kids on up,is gay or lesbian. Our mayor, judges, and city council are all podunk, super religious, extremely anti-gay,and thus allow the harassment to continue unabaited. So,I guess I'll either have to clean-out my garage and start parking my car there,or wash it everyday so it doesn't get towed at my expense(which was threatened on my citation). It sucks.

I would get on the phone to you local chapter of the ACLU. They'll probably provide you with legal counsel free of charge.

  11. I searched my computer and found no purity scan, but there is another type of trojan floating around that my anti-virus just caught and deleted after I updated it and ran a complete scan on my system. It's called "MusicSearch". I'm not exactly sure what it does-I'm thinking, judging by the name, that it's searching my hard drive for any downloaded music. As I mentioned earlier, AVG (my anti-virus software) identified it as a trojan horse and deleted it. I think it got into my system while my son was using my computer because he sometimes forgets to put the firewall up before going online. I'm wondering if this trojan was released by the RIAA to check people's computers for illegal music? I do know that they are now issuing subpoenas by the hundreds. What do you guys think? Am I being paranoid? Does anybody know what this "MusicSearch" trojan really does?

  12. Does anyone see something they like and think would be a cool addition to our gifs?

While it wasn't included in this particular post Alterego, you had a smiley in another one of your posts that made me laugh my *buttocks* off. It was a smiley wearing a paper bag. Funny stuff!

  13. Thanks for the heads up 8247. I don't have a problem with pop ups because I take a 3 pronged approach to avoiding spyware (which is what this purity scan seems to be). First, I don't use IE to surf the net. I use Avant Browzer which has a built in pop up blocker. To keep spyware off my computer, I use a software firewall (Sygate-free) and have installed two other programs which scan for and delete spyware-Ad-Aware 6.0 and SpyBot Search and Destroy. Both of these are free programs and keep my computer pretty much spyware and pop up free.

  14. One that gave me a chuckle was also a commercial for a check card. It began with Charlie Sheen trying to cash a check in a small newsstand. The clerk asks him for ID, Charlie gives it to him and then makes a pass at a pretty girl reading a magazine. She rolls her eyes and ignores him. The clerk says "I have to call this in." and you see the clerk making several phone calls. When he's finished on the phone, we see it's now MARTIN Sheen waiting at the counter. The clerk looks at the ID card and says "This doesn't look like you." and Martin replies; "It did when I came in."
