  1. Is now a bad time to mention that today its in the low 80's and I've been outside in shorts a t-shirt most of this morning? It is? Ok then I won't tell you.

Klingonmike...where do you live and do you have a room you'd like to rent out to a fellow Trekkie? Right now I'm looking out my window at a blizzard!!!

  2. I just checked the website. Although they have a new trailer up (it rocks), now we have to wait until Jan 17th to view the first episode!!! YOU GUYS ARE DRIVING ME NUTS!!! I WANT MY OLD SCHOOL TREK!!

  3. William Shatner will make a guest appearance on Enterprise as one of James T. Kirk's ancestors. Ratings for that episode will go through the roof, just like they did when Leonard Nimoy appeard as Spock in the TNG episode "Reunification."

  4. This is a well known scam. These e-mails usually originate from Nigeria or the Phillipine Islands. They always are about some large amount of money stashed away in a foreign bank account and your help is needed to retrieve it. The messages always promise the receipient a large amount of money for his/her "help." If you are dumb enough to respond to one of these messages, the sender will then either ask you to send a certain amount of your money to a drop box somewhere as a sign of "goodwill" or they will ask you for your bank account number so they can transfer this nonexistent amount of money they are attempting to "retrieve"...said bank account is then drained empty by the con artists. The smart thing to do with these messages is what most of the previous posters have done...delete it.

  5. Another blooper from Star Trek 5...after the Enterprise enters orbit around Sha-Ka-Ree, Kirk decides to take a shuttle down to the planet to investigate. He invites Spock, McCoy, and Sybok to join him. While boarding the shuttle aboard the Enterprise, Sybok's hair is long (shoulder length) and wild looking, but when they disembark from the shuttle after landing on Sha-Ka-Ree, Sybok's hair is neatly trimmed above the collar! Did anybody notice a barber aboard the shuttle? I sure didn't!!

  6. Around the time TMP was released, William Shatner did a commercial for AT&T long distance. A few weeks later, MCI long distance released a commercial for their "friends and family" long distance discount plan. The commercial starred Leonard Nimoy, and the people he "signed up" for his discount plan? James Doohan, DeForest Kelley, George Takei, Walter Koenig and Nichelle Nichols! The commercial ended with Nimoy asking "if we should give Bill a call" and the rest of the cast responding..."who?!?" Funny stuff! I wish I could find that commercial archived on the net somewhere!

  7. As for seeing celebrity actors in a Trek movie?  Sure, I'd love to see one or two.  Maybe one could be a villian, with the other being a "new member" of the crew, much like how we had Saviik in the 2nd and 3rd movie.  However, if they're going to put a celebrity in the movie, I want one who can pull off a character that people will care about, and not be there as an icon.

Actually, Kirstie Alley wasn't a celebrity yet when she filmed TWOK. Lt. Saavik was her first movie role. Ms. Alley's career took off after landing the role of Rebecca Howe on a television series called "Cheers," and that TV series commitment is the reason Robin Curtis took over the role of Saavik in TSFS and TVH.

  8. is that why i have trouble connecting to the trek chat room?

I was wondering cptwright..Do you have a Popup Blocker installed on your computer? That would prevent you from getting into the chat room..You may have to deactivate it when you go in there..Just a thought..

Hmmm...that's odd. I use Avant browser for my internet surfing because it has tabbed browsing and a built in pop-up blocker. I've never had any problems getting in to the chat room and I don't disable the pop-up blocker when I go in. I wonder if it's only certain pop-up blockers that create an issue?

  9. Thanks boss man! Now I finally got to see what all the fuss was about! Great video!!! I didn't get to view it until you converted it to Windows Media Player format because I deleted Real Player from my computer months ago after it caused some problems on my system. Thanks again VBG and keep up the good work!

  10. Yep, this PC stuff has definitely gone too far. Take, for example, my home town, Milwaukee, WI. We have a college here called Marquette University. Up until a few years ago, their basketball team was called the Marquette Warriors. Apparently, some native americans took offense with the term "warriors," as well as the team mascot, which was an Indian brave. This caused a huge controversy, Marquette University caved, and changed the name of their basketball team to the Marquette Golden Eagles. My thoughts during this media frenzy was "where will it end?" What's next, pro baseball and football? Should the Cleveland Indians and the Atlanta Braves change their names? And what about the Washington Redskins?

  11. My earliest Star Trek memory was watching TOS during it's original run..I was around 7 years old when it premiered...with my father. We were one of the first families in our neighborhood to purchase a color TV, and my dad is a sci fi fan. I don't remember particular episodes I watched, but I do remember that I loved Mr Spock because he was so smart!! I didn't really become a fan until the early seventies when TOS went into syndication. By then, I was in my early teens and was able to catch the moral and cultural messages Gene Roddenberry was sending and getting past the TV censors of the sixties by disguising controversial subjects as science fiction. It was then I realized just how brilliant this man was and I was hooked! Oh, and since I was now a teenaged girl, it was Captain Kirk I loved rather than Mr Spock...for obvious reasons!

  12. I can agree that DS9 might be a spin off of TNG as TNG's Best of Both World's led into DS9, but why is VOY as spin off of DS9? There is no direct relationship between the two, except that Voyager visited DS9 in the first ep.  Also, I can't see how ENT could be a spin off of TOS only.  TOS comes later in the timeline from ENT, as do the other Star Treks.  So ENT would really have to be a spin off of Star Trek itself.  You couldn't narrow it down to just TOS, because you could still have ENT if TNG was the first Star Trek series.  TOS has no direct relationship to it.  As you've likely guessed, I feel that every series is just a spin off of Star Trek in general, but DS9 and Voyager because of their proximity in the timeline to TNG could be considered linked to TNG.

I think you're right. Really, becuase they don't have direct connections to each other, you could see them as being Star Trek spin-offs in general.

In my opinion, TOS is Star Trek, so all the shows produced after TOS are TOS spin-offs.
