Yeah, it was only by political sabotage really that the Romulans joined the Alliance. Still, I would hate to see the Federation defeated.
There was a reference to a Borg victory in their 3/4th season invasion of TNG, made me sad to hear it in "Parallels". Good thing it was only a possible future

I"d buy the Enterprise and hang it on my wall

dang, maybe I should have posted this in Kronos.
But since God exists, then there is no need for the Big Bang, since God created the universe.
It sounds like another attempt to box in God. He is omniscient - all-knowing, omnipotent - all-powerful, and omnipresent - everywhere present. I once heard an analogy, that mankind is to God what a clay pot is to a master potter. Its inane for a pot to "understand" its maker. Just as we cannot be expected to comprehend God. That is where the term "faith" comes in. We accept God and is will by faith. Now I'm preaching. Pardon me.
I believe you are referring to the analogy in the Bible, can't remember the scripture, I want to say Jeremiah 18:1-11.
::cloaks the preaching, read if you like::
Click For SpoilerCorrect, we can never fully comprehend God, but the bible gives us many instances of his qualities, including his cardinal attributes wisdom, power, justice and love (1 John 4:8) But we are invited to learn about God (James 4:8) which is oe reason why we have the bible. -
:) Woo hoo, thanks for the cameo Alterego! Glad I inspired a post!! :)
Sounds possible, in fact, I'd watch that episode, but I watch every episode of Enterprise already. looks like we'll all just have to watch the next season of Enterprise to find out!

I do both, and the other RC mentioned.
I am going into my second year at Mansfield Univeristy taking on 15 credits. Studying to be a High School history teacher.
At the University I do a work study doing maintenance. It's ten hours a week during school but I get almost forty hours a week during summer.
During the weekends I work at a local McDonald's because I figured it was the most likely to offer a job that could accomodate my schedule. It's alright but bugs me once and awhile. After I graduate and get a teaching job I'll quit and never look back.
I've also been working with someone fixing up a house, mostly painting and stuff. That should end when school starts.
And I engage in a ministry like RC part-part time, usually Saturday mornings. It's totally a volunteer thing so I don't know if that counts, but I wrote it anyway! :)

I heard that the plot for the First Duty came about by an arguement between the writers about what Wesley would choose, either the truth or his friends.
So here's a question, who or what is your first duty to?
I'll tell mine if I get a request :)

I find the Dominion interesting.
I like how they try to be your friends but screw up and they get severly agitated. Evidence of this is in "Call to Arms" when Weyoun is talking to Sisko about the minefield that is being erected.
Good scene

Is it just my imagination or did it seem like during the Dominion War the ships didn't have shields except the ones that the main characters were on?
Second Question:
Ds9 was able to destroy a Jem'Hadar attack ship with like 3 torpedoes in "Call to Arms"
How come in "A Time to Stand" the Jem'Hadar ship they were on could take so much punishment, since they were in battle for several minutes? Did Starfleet pgrade the ship or are Centaur-class vessels (or just the centaur of an unnamed class) not too powerful?
-
I beleive the Jem'Hadar had the upper hand with the Oddessy was becaus e the Federation had never encountered phased polaron beams before, so had no defense.
Due to this encounter, Starfleet must have totally amped up projects to defend against this weapon, which explains the expansion of DS9's defenses which helped in "Call to Arms."
As for the Dominion not getting better ships, here may be a reson or two.
They may not have had the facilities needed in the Alpha Quadrant and couldn't call for more becasue of the minefield, etc. or--
the Dominion think quantity is better than quality since they can clone more Jem'Hadar and Vorta and have a lot of resources to construct more vessels.

I agree with having Darmok and Measure of a Man, I loved those ones. Some other opnes of mine that I love are:
"Cause and Effect" -- the introduction freaked me out
"The Chase" -- Loved the idea and the suspense, especially when the Cardassians played an ace
"Family" -- this might not be an underrated one but I loved it
"Face of the Enemy" -- got a lot of info about how Romulan vessels operate
"Tin Man" -- tension, mystery, emotion, all the makings of a good episode
"First Contact" -- not sure why, I just liked seeing how dangerous of a mission first contact can be
-
I'm in complete agreement witht eh praise given to this episode. I just saw it a few days ago and I rank it very highly on my TOS scale.
I loved the twist that the timeline would be ruptured if Edith survived. Usually when we think of fixing the past, we think of saving someone, and having to go through the opposite, having to let someone die, was genius.
The whole thing about how the timeline would be dirupted was very well thought out and practical too. Sometimes I found some TOS event to be a little farfetched but this one was a possible outcome.
It also hit an emotional thing with me because I couldn't imagine a world unified (conquered really) under Nazism.

This is in response to the topic that Master-Q had on the homepage.
Why would they call it a God-particle if it's related to the Big Bang, which means the universe was created by chance?
-
Yeah, I would agree that war spurs more scientific advancements since there is a pressing need for better technology to help win.
As for a war being good or bad, yeah it depends on the reason, but all wars that are mankind vs. mankind are bad in my opinion.

I have not seen teh movie yet but here is a possible answer to the continuity issue:
Click For SpoilerLance in AVP plays a human, founder of the corperation I heard. Anyway, this I read somewhere, he becomes a template for synthetics in the future, which explains why Bishop looks like him. So, Bishop and Lance in AVP = Doctor Zimmerman and "The Doctor" in Voyager.Hope that helps

Wow, I did not realize how many people were at least in my state!

In High School I was the guy who always did their homework, got high marks, and got along well with the teachers.
I was also voted "Best Sense of Humor" when I graduated and got along well with everybody that I knew. I'd say I was popular but I never really hung out with anyone outside of school. I'd say my interest of Star Trek was not general knowledge.
Year 1 of college -- Did all the work I was supposed to and had as little contact with any students and organixations as possible. It's not that I hate it or the people I just want to finish up and get out of there.

This was pretty wierd.
I had this dream that my dad was either buying or selling a house and for some reason Brent Spiner and Jonathon Frakes were hanging around and they got annoyed with me becasue I kept trying to talk about Star Trek with them.
Perhaps it was because I called them Commander instead of thier real names.
-
Yeah, how can one show take over two different shows timeslots? Especially since there doesn't apear to be that many of those police chase shows. I mean with that schedule it must be repeating every 2-3 weeks!

::raises his left hand::
WOO HOO!

Bridge Commander
Starship Creator Warp II
DS9 Dominion Wars
Starfleet Academy Bridge Simulator -- SNES
ST: TNG -- SNES
ST:TNG -- SEGA Genesis
So it looks like I have 6 total that I own.
My brother has (in the same house so I guess I can add them):
Star Trek Invasion -- PS1
Starship Creator I

I think one thing about Humans that makes them superior, at least shown in Star Trek, is their ingenuity and will to survive, in spite of the fact that they do not have any readily visible abilities.
-
Not likely becasue things from the first game (Starlancer) were specifically shown in the intro to Freelancer.
Anyway, my brother just pointed out to me that the intro said the Coalition only gains the upper hand, so there is nothing definite to the end of the conflict.
Sounds like a good idea for a third game!
Irregardless, this post can be closed at the mod's convenience.

It's a big galaxy and since the Vulcans beleive in infinite diversity in infinate combinations it is entirely possible that the Mintakans evolved naturally.
Perhaps the Vulcan physiology is suited for planets of that type. The Mintakan planet looked pretty desert like and if the whole planet is like that that may be why.
