  1. Get info on applications as soon as possible so you know the schedule of admissions for your college of choice or you might find yourself waiting for a long time to get in (up to an extra year).

Also, expect to spend a long time in school if you want to become a historian. You'll probably need at the very least a master's degree after you get a B.A. (likey 6 years all in) to get a decent job based in humanities or social sciences.

You should also do some research and find out what happens to people who graduate from programs you're interested in. What are their job details? Do they even get jobs or do their jobs often get outsourced? Where do they end up working? How much money do they make? What are their hours like?

  2. No chance. In fact, there's pretty much nothing I would buy on e-bay, but definitely not a car. It's like a pair of pants - you have to try it on and see how it fits before you decide.

  3. Seriously, don't bother with them. I'm a fan of Ent. - in fact, it's probably my favourite series - but a lot of the episodes from season 1 and 2 have been quite poorly put together. It's gotten a lot better in the third season. You'd have to be pretty hard-core to buy the first 2 seasons on anything, let alone VCD. Eventually they'll be repeated and you'll be able to record them on regular video, which would be better than VCD.

  4. If you were confused red shirt i suggest you go here; matrix 101

No confusion, it was just a bad movie. People who found meaning in it were looking too hard. It was, quite simply, a pretentious and rambling imitation of a film that once said something. You could read almost anything into some of the lines in that movie and "make sense" of some scenes, but ultimately it was pointless.

  5. Hi Goose,

I wasn't 100% sure about it either. Watching Hayes at work would make for some tense moments on the show where we might see Archer or somebody discovering him with his "hand in the cookie jar" or something.

  6. Wow, some odd posts here. Many of you seem to think you can actually go out and solve your problems (except mjham). They must be pretty minor if you're still in complete control of them, if not caused by your own actions. Most of the big problems I have are pretty much out of my control.

Just learn to live with them and accept them as part of your life. If you define something as a problem needing solving, you'll increase your stress. If you define it as a fact of life, things get better fast.

The ones you can be fix on your own shouldn't be that much of a challenge.

  7. I like Hayes as a secondary character, but I also think he could get a few more lines and scenes than he does. I wouldn't mind seeing an episode or two based on his perspective on the mission(s). He's a good character, but I feel that giving him a major role would compromise the premise of the program (science, not war) to some extent. Perhaps he could be promoted when they get back to Earth and take on another role (Section 31 member on the ship or security officer - with Reed as tactical officer).

  8. No Shatner. No Kirk. No other pathetic ploys to get "fans" who do nothing but moan to watch. I wish they'd all just disappear so the rest of us could enjoy the program more. Actually, I had one interesting idea for Shatner. Make him the cook, and follow it up with a devastating disruptor blast in the vicinity of the galley.

On a more serious note, I'd like to see tensions with the Romulans built. The Romulans could engage in some kind of subversive activity against Starfleet/Earth; then again, I suspect the Xindi arc and the TCW are all part of this. I wouldn't mind seeing the TCW wrapped up in season four so the talk of timelines can be brought to a close. Even though I'm enjoying the TCW, I think they need to keep things on track re. linking the plot more closely to the timeline we know.

  9. Was there ever an explanation of how the 5 Xindi species evolved together? When I say evolved, I mean socially, politically and culturally, but not physically. One would thing that they couldn't have evolved at the same pace and one group would have risen above the others either through technology or physical strength. You could say that each group controlled and adapted to their own unique ecosystems, but it seems unlikely that one group wouldn't come out on top and dominate in the end. How could they have developed into a semi-harmonious group (with the exception of their war)?
