  1. Paris. The last member of the travesty that was "Voyager" must disappear from memory to be fair to the other series. I actually liked Paris more than some of the others remaining, but just hearing the word Voyager grates on me.

  2. I haven't tried this diet myself but my supervisor and her husband were both doing it. They cut carbs completely from their diet for about 2 months, then one night her husband had some wine with dinner (very high in carbs, they didn't know it though) and the next day he had a doughnut at work. He ended up in the ER with breathing problems and chest pains because of the sudden change. I'm sure this isn't a common problem, but his doctor strongly encouraged him to stop the low carb thing because people tend to go to the extreme with it. Then when they lose the weight they want to lose and go back to normal eating habits, they often develop health issues. Carbs are a very necessary part of a balanced diet and cutting them is a bad idea. As was stated above, the best way is to eat in moderation and exercise on a regular basis.

This kind of thing may have happened to a friend of mine, too. She decided to cut out carbs almost completely. Now, everytime she drinks wine she gets stomach pains. I'll ask her when they started and see if there's a connection.

  3. If Archer was supposed to write the PD but he dies and does not write them then the sphere-builders might still have have won their bid to alter history.  :wow:  The entire timeline as we knew it could be changed unless his death was meant to happen. I don't think Archers death is supposed to happen though; remember Daniels tried to warn Archer, did Archer heed his warning... ?

But hasn't Daniels mentioned multiple outcomes for the same timeline a few times? This could mean he didn't warn Archer about something in the past and Archer got killed by taking action. Perhaps he knows Archer will ignore the current warning and thus not do something that causes a problem. Not much point figuring out this time-travel stuff until we see it.

It could be there are three endings and we'll see all of them, with Daniels intervening twice until the third one, which could be the right one. We might see Archer die in one of them. Or, it could've just been a joke going around the set. Like say Bakula's acting and is supposed to run around a corner to the right, but he turns left and runs out of the airlock (on the set), hence "dying." I've just about given up on the previews and ignore them since they have very little or nothing to do with the story alarmingly often.

  4. No, nobody has to go, but as others have mentioned, the writers need to do a better job of writing meaningful lines for characters and developing them. If the actors aren't up to it, then get rid of them and move on; but, if they've never been given much of a chance, like Hoshi and Mayweather, then the writers need to rethink what they're up to. Hoshi and Mayweather also always seem to get key roles in episodes that aren't necessarily critical to the overall storyline.

They need to change Hoshi and give her some other skills that can be exploited. The translation idea sounded pretty half-baked from the start to be honest. They seem to have thought this would be a necessary role for a member of the ship but have later realised that they can't write it in an interesting way.

I thought after the episode where she got stuck in the transporter and prevented an attack on the ship (in her head or not), that her personality would've changed suddenly and dramatically, but the writers wasted the opportunity to expand her role after that episode. I hope they do more with her next year, but the character is pointless if she gets no lines.

  5. I also say Hoshi. Although I don't really want anyone to go, she'd be the one if they had to make a choice. She's really faded into the background. Let's face it - what's the point of having a translator if they have a UT that kind of works? It's a ridiculous concept to think anyone could learn a language as fast as she does anyway.

T'Pol must stay. She's more interesting and complex than the other characters. The way she interacts and grates with the other officers at times is one of the most entertaining aspects of the show.

  6. I've known 3. I've listened to a lot more... obviously. I'm simply stating that I believe radio is a waste of time and a tool used by the music industry to manipulate people's tastes at the hands of DJs who are only too happy to oblige and play garbage. Not only am I tired of most of the music sold to the masses via radio and TV, I'm completely exasperated by the fact that you have to listen to the #1 song almost every hour and repeats of the rest of whatever's in vogue for weeks on end. I'm not stating that every radio station does this, but many do and DJs are part of it all - so I really can't be bothered to listening to them rant about the latest, greatest thing.

I'm talking about DJs moreso as people who play music, not individuals, although I did reference the 3 I've known so I can see how some of you may have thought it was more of a personal comment. If other people like radio, that's fine - I don't care one bit. I'm not talking about individuals, but the typical radio personality. I can't stand listening to their rambling, pointless commentary or their playlists. Listening to the radio is one of the least productive things I can think of doing.

Also, I'm not missing out on getting to know great people. I know a lot of great people, and I've managed to get to know them by cutting out those unlikely to be worth knowing early on. The 3 I knew all had one thing in common that I can't stand: They talked too much BS and enjoyed hearing themselves talking more than actually communicating with people. How many more do I need to suffer before I can write them off? (Obviously this last paragraph is on a personal level).

  7. Very biased.  I mean, I'm obsessed with music.  Crap, its practically my life.  Some ppl are like those two though.  They try to look so cool, they're in it for the name, not the game.  I suggest in future you expand your horizens past two people of a type.  You might find out that a whole barrell of apples, so to speak, is not the same as the two green ones you pull out first.  Also, if you doubt they are only part time, and you dont think they know the ins and outs of the trade, please, in future, do not class them with the full time, or even part time for that matter, professionals of the trade.

Wait, I knew one more and he was another one. That's 3 for 3. Sooner or later you have to start cutting your losses and stop wasting time getting to know people who aren't going to turn out to be worth talking to. Maybe it was them or maybe it was me or more likely some combination between our personalities that doesn't work, but whenever I meet a DJ now, I just try to get away. It's best for both of us.

  8. Woo-hoo. Hey, I haven't even seen it yet and won't for a few more weeks. In fact, I'm 3 weeks behind all of you since I have to wait for tapes with a few episodes to be sent to me. Still, I'm not 100% sure what you're talking about, but I'm guessing it's big D's butt.

  9. I used to listen to AM radio all the time.  They say AM format is lower tech, and lower quality, but I love it.  My favorite station switched from AM to FM though, so they kind of ruined the station for us.  Mostly because we no longer receive it very well.  Well, I can if I hand on to the antenna of my radio and this yoga postion...but lets just say thats not very easy to do.  So, now I listen almost constantly to FM.  Country mostly.  Some rock.  A little bit of classical and oldies.

:force: I remember holding onto a few antennae myself when I was younger and interested in radio.

  10. Yeah, well, my impressions are based on a couple of part-time DJs I knew. Not the real thing, but one was completely overbearing and obsessed with music that you could really only listen to in a club. He was continuously berating the taste in music of all the people around him. The other one was some clown who tried to get a job and during the interview told me he might have a gig on night's before work and need to take the next day off. Obviously I scratched him off the list of likely candidates without a second thought. Perhaps my view has been biased because of these two fools.

I doubt they bothered to go to school to study the ins and outs of the trade. No offense. I just don't like other people telling me what I should do and that seems to be what radio has deteriorated into. It's not that it wasn't always like that to some extent, but now most stations are owned by the same people and play the same trash. I refuse to even attach the antenna to my stereo.

  11. It's lame (not TZ's in particular, but the concept in general). They could easily embed something into the transmission of a show to prove who the broadcaster is without making it so obvious. It's hard to get into a show at times when the logo pops up, let alone all the advertisements breaking up the story. I'll admit the commercial breaks are an economic necessity, but the logos are just irritating.

"You're watching such and such a program on XYZ," they'll announce at breaks. Alas, I'm not - I'm just watching either the beginning or ending of another freakin' commercial break at that point.

  12. No chance.

It looks like the same kind of trash Hollywood has been churning out for years. How many times are we going to be subjected to remakes of TV shows or old movies, sequels and rehashes of stories already told in a better way (eg. what Van Helsing appears to be). I guess if you haven't seen many movies this might look original, but I just don't see it that way. A few years ago I probably would've enjoyed it, but I just can't be bothered with this kind of film anymore.
