  1. if it starts not to have the same feel first contact and the other movies did, im walking out and demanding my money back because we all know how bad of a flop nemesis...

Don't forget....this is a TOS movie......they don't normally flop as TNG movies do....... :superhappy:

Don't forget the curse of the odd numbered TOS movies, any with an odd number did not do as well as the even numbered ones. No matter how you count it this is an odd numbered movie, it's either Star Trek XI or the 7th TOS movie if you count this as TOS.

  2. Well my old one (statstarter) was because I am one of the founders of the Star Trek Association of Towson (the folks that bring you Shore Leave ) and Shore Leave's first convention chairman. The treason for the new one is that just oldfan was already taken and I an old and a fan, I watched Star Trek TOS when is was in first run and as I get more grey in the hair and more body aches I feel old.

  3. A couple of posts have talked about the characters in the original series being too perfect or perfect, they were far from perfect. Adama had a temper but kept it under control for the most part but it did show at times. Starbuck drank (ambrosia), smoked (fumerellos) gambled (pyramid) cussed (frack and felgercarb) had a temper and was a womanizer (Athena and Cassiopeia for starters). Starbuck never did anything to deliberately hurt a person but it did happen and he did his best to make things right. Apollo cussed (frack and felgercarb) he had a bit of a temper and was rather headstrong. Cassiopeia started out as a socialator (escort/companion) and later became a medic.

They all had their flaws but used them to make themselves stronger for it, after all Trek told us that the darker side of our personality helps make us stronger if it is properly controlled.

  4. I am a big fan of the original series, it had drama, comedy, action and human interest. I even had Boxey and the daggit as a draw for the kids to watch.

Many people say that it was cheesy and it wasn't, you have to remember when it was made, television standards and rules for violence and sex were far more stringent then than they are today.

Back then CGI for effects was in a dream they had, look at TRON and The Last Starfighter a few years later they were the beginning of CGI. Battlestar's effects were state of the art then.

The show had a morality base because of Glen Larson's Mormon religion.

I think the show still stands as one of the best pieces of television science fiction ever made.

  5. -your starship has battle damage repaired with unpainted bondo

-the captain wears a "CAT" hat

-the captain has an 8-track in the arm of his command chair

-your starship has a nacelle held on with a coat hanger and duct tape

-your starship had a dead targ tied on the saucer section

-your starship has a view port covered with a blue tarp and duct tape

-when you go to warp speed the captain plays Eastbound and Down on the 8-track in the arm of his command chair

-when the red alert klaxon is a "dixie" horn

-when there is a confederate battle flag painted on the dome over the bridge

  6. The mirror universe uniforms were fantastic if you had the body for them and at that time they did.

Off topic..... As much as I liked them, from years of going to conventions I have seen a lot of fans wear them that DON'T have the body for them

  7. Waiting around for word on my mom in a hospital in western Maryland.

Just got a phone call she just has a kidney infection and is now home and in bed, didn't want to spend my birthday (or any other day)in the hospital visiting my mom.
