  1. The drunk driver should lose his license for a long while and be liable for the bills of his victim. As for a passenger while morally you should have stopped the drunk from driving you have no legal obligation to do so. I would rather walk than accept a ride from a drunk, it would be smart to call a sober friend or a family member for a ride than to ride with a drunk.

  2. As someone that has been to a lot of conventions over the years and helped run a lot I have a few more tips to add.

If you go to a con and the guest happens to be Leonard Nimoy wear an "I Grok Spock" t-shirt, rubber vulcan ears and a set of deelyboppers (they are a plastic hair band with springs with glitter covered balls on the ends)

Get drunk and try to grope the female guests when they pose with you for a picture.

For the costume contest make a costume out of garbage bags and act very insulted when you don't win.

Throw a room party and invite people and don't tell them that it is an orgy.

At the above mentioned room party have the music so loud that hotel security shows up to quiet it down and answer the door in the buff.

When you check into the hotel have several cases of beer at the check in along with your baggage.

When you participate in the costume contest remember that the more skin you show the better your score will be especially if you weigh 300lbs.

I have seen every one of these over the years at conventions except the first one, I did hear about it though. I know most of these aren't funny but unfortunately have happened.

  3. If in Star Trek IV Dr. McCoy could give a woman a pill that cured her kidney disease I'm sure they will have a cure for baldness. I know that you may think thast baldness is trivial but to some people it is traumatic. A medicine I take for a medical condition has the side effect on me of making my hair grow faster, I'm not bald or balding.

  4. Yes people ARE that stupid. This reminds me of a great scam from quite a few years ago that will probably will make a comeback with so many people going "green" due to alleged global warming. They were selling a solar powered clothes dryer for $200 - $300, you got a package in the mail containing a length of clothesline and a package of clothespins. People bought these things sight unseen, you did get a solar powered clothes dryer not not one worth more than $3 at that time. This was in the pre internet days, imagine how many they could sell now.

  5. Lately, I have been hearing a lot of Shatner bashing, mainly due to his wanting to be in the new film. But, how easily people forget how much he has done for Star Trek. Not only has he been Kirk on TV and films, but has written novels and books. Even giving ideas that later became "classic scenes" in the films and episodes.

Just like it was his idea that they put a glass in-between Kirk and Spock during the death scene of Wrath of Khan. People love it, and don't know where it came from-the man that is being bashed left and right. I'm scared that people are starting to underrate the guy and forget what he has done for the franchise

It's not that we have forgotten what Shatner has done for Star Trek, it's his constant whining about roles he couldn't get because of Trek, how much he thinks we should kiss his a$$, how a new Star Trek movie without him can't be a success.

As for his writing books, have you noticed that they have a second author?

Some of us who have been around fandom for a while now are just tired of his actions over the years and have had enough of his whining and egomanical behavior. He treated fans like dirt for quite a while then demanded worship when he saw how much money he could make from fandom. Back in the 80's for a convention appearance he was demanding $50,000, 2 round trip first class airfare, a suite, limo service, full room service tab including alcohol and long distance for him and his companion, (wife, girlfriend, whatever) a 14 day cancellation clause for any reason not just professional commitments or illness, no signing autographs or just signing a few for a charity auction. Want to even speculate how much he wants now?

It isn't that we are bashing him it's that somew of us are fed up.

  6. Instead of not letting in people who may not be the government's idea of ideal weight how about a making it illegal for dopesuckers to emigrate? People with weight issues don't commit crimes to buy food. Have you ever wondered why no government has estimated the cost of healthcare required by addicts and harped on the figures as much as they do about weight? What about the other costs associated with dopesuckers? police, courts, jails, insurance loss, thefts from stores, killings? I think if you total up the costs dopesuckers cost more and are more of a drain on society.

  7. I think that fans should get a fund started to buy Shatner a 500 lb wheel of cheese to go with his years of whining about Star Trek. First he whined about being typecast and not being able to get other acting jobs, then he whined about not being able to write and direct a Trek movie (when he eventually did it stunk like 100 year old limburger) and now he whines about not being in the newest Trek movie. Maybe a 500 lb wheel won't be enough?

Maybe next he will whine about his talent not being on par with his ego? we can only hope.
