USS Enterprise record player satisfies two geeky fetishes

 

What do you get for someone who's both a sci-fi nerd as well as an audio nerd? This USS Enterprise record player seems pretty close to the perfect choice, no? The huge model of the famous starship plays records and looks awesome, although I'm not quite sure where it would look appropriate in someone's living room.

 

And since it's just a concept design at the moment, that's probably not a problem anyone will be dealing with anytime soon. Instead, we can just admire the genius of coming these two items into one superitem without having to debate coming up with the inevitably large sum of money to procure it.

 

 

Where would you get records though?.....lol

I will be picking up my laptop now that it is repaired and then going to a friend's house to BBQ ribs.

I would like to see the movie done based on the Richard Hatch promo reel.

My problem with the Sci Fi Channel version is that it became a political soap opera. If I want a political soap opera I can read a newspaper or watch a cable news channel. For those of you that haven't seen the Hatch promo film here is a link to it.

Why would they let her go after the first offense?

In many states if you have no criminal or DWI/DUI record you leave jail on your own recognizance, no bail required. You must promise to appear at trial or be subject to arrest. In others your regular license is confiscated and you get a temporary permit good until your trial.

I gave up on the chat room because of the juvenile antics of a couple of members. It just takes a couple of fools to ruin things for others.

It takes a while to pick a proper name for a kitten, you need to see their persoality.

If one of the kittens is round and furry call it Tribble

If one of them is really hyper compared to the rest call it Sulu.

If one dominates the rest call it Tiberius.

Red Lobster does not sell crabcakes, they serve some sort of garbage made with canned asian crab meat.

I can see a great reason to have Favre as a QB, if you have a young QB fresh out of college who better for him to learn the game and maybe a work ethic from than favre. Being an old geezer I remember when football players didn't sit out 1/2 the season for a sprained toe or hemorrhoids and Favre is a player like that with a great work ethic. A young QB being Favre's backup could be a great learning experience for the kid and make him more of an asset for the team.

I prefer glass bottles (I'm an old geezer) but when was the last time you saw a glass bottle of soda except for a special edition bottle that you want to keep unopened? For the most part I buy plastic bottles unless there is a really great sale on cans.

It was a great episode, it must have been we named a convention after it.

Even with bigger budgets and fancy special effects TOS kicks TNG's butt.

I went and looked at the wizarduniverse site and looked at the list and I find a few things wrong with it.

1) A large percentage of the shows aren't science fiction in my opinion, Buffy The Vampire Slayer (a teen fantasy horror goth soap opera), Angel (see Buffy), The Dead Zone (goth soap opera), Dark Shadows (horror soap opera), Smallville (soap opera), Supernatural (goth soap opera) These shows are not science fiction.

2) I have to wonder why none of the 4 Irwin Allen science fiction series made the list.

3) If the list had been limited to actual science fiction a lot of the results would be different.

4) Dr Who the greatest science fiction show ever?? what were these people smoking?

I remember watching it on TV way back when. It was never really a favorite show of mine, it was ok. How was the movie? Is it worth a Netflix rental?

Not really, I bought a used copy of the movie at a video store going out of business sale for $3. I was overcharged.

That site would have come in VERY handy when my girlfriend at the time *cajoled* me into taking her to see Titanic. When we got out of that theater there was even a line at the men's room.

BTW HATED the movie but it sure put her into a romantic mood :)

There are 2 ways you could look at it pertaining to the police.

1) The police force is a force of good battling the forces of evil i.e. crime and criminals (the dark side)

2) Even though it was voluntary to answer the questions, they thought that asking about their religious beliefs was intrusive and gave an answer to show how ridiculous they thought it was.

If the fan took a picture using a flash during a stage performance he deserved it. Besides distracting the actor using a flash during a stage performance is rude to the rest of the audience. How about finding out if that is the case before calling Stewart names?

But Colbert is a comedian, the toilet would have been funnier.

Serenity was the best of the NASA names suggested but I did a write in suggestion to call it the Asimov module. I thought it was appropriate, besides science fiction he wrote books and articles on science for ordinary people.

I do like the idea of calling the new toilet facility on the space station the Colbert.
