I loved this ep - simply because I loved seeing Kang, Kor, and Koloth together. The plot...well...the fight scene IS good.
Michael Ansara as Kang is my favorite bad guy of all time.
Q'apla!

Is it just me, or does Bareil speak very much like Bruce Wayne? The only thing he needs to do is pause slightly during his sentences...
Watch him for a few minutes!! He could be the Bajoran Batman!
-
So, as the next logical question - can someone give me a hint where I might find one? Ktrek - how did you find the one you found in Season One?
-
Whoo-hoooooooo!!!!
Thank you!

My DS9 Season 2 just came in the mail, and I'm settling down for a marathon. Just as I'm beginning "Invasive Procedures," I had a thought. Do these sets (any of them) include Easter Eggs, like movies do? Just a question. I had never heard of any, and assumed they didn't exist, but I thought I'd ask. Thanks!

Darn, man, take care of yourself and ENJOY!

Ohmigosh, I never noticed that! (I need that darn encyclopedia...) Giant kudos to you! I wish I could go check it out right now, but I sold my copy of Emissary .

The Grand State of Maine (our technical name), USA!

I'm a Niner, though I've never seen a Trek I didn't like.Ditto
At the risk of sounding redundant, ditto again. Although I voted tie (sorry, guys). If eps were playing at the same time on different stations, I'd choose DS9, though.

I forgot one. In "Dax" when Dax (of course) was on trial, Sisko tries to show that Jadzia is a worthwhile member of society; that she doesn't need to die. He questions her intelligence - is it hers or the symbiont's? She lists her academic degrees, which are considerable, and he asks how many of them she earned before she was joined. A pause, three words, and a settled smile..."All of them."
It doesn't rank with some of the others, but it catches me every time, and I've seen that ep many times. It has shades of Data's humanity being on trial, but it's still great.

I doubt if it would have been the same Dax in ST: VI because I have never heard anything about the symbiant having ever had a non Trill host. The part that has confused me is that the Trill/Symbiant relationship was first made know in TNG. Am I wrong or was that episode the first time that Starfleet became aware of the......Unique arrangement between the host and symbiant in the trill race? If so it implies that they were not in Starfleet or there would have been medical information for Doctor Crusher to access. Stands to reason that if they had served on a starship the ship's doctor would have known and made note of it.
I think you hit on the continuity problem that has been bothering me. Sisko has known Curzon for years - Curzon has been a Federation Ambassador - so why isn't medical information regarding his species in the Enterprise's databanks? Why do people who supposedly value Infinite Diversity so bothered by the symbiont? There are symbionts throughout nature on Earth - wouldn't finding a sentient one be logical?
I think the writers saw they had a good idea in the Trills, then just took off with it when DS9 came up.
I think, if Dax showed up, it'd have to be Leila, the politico. Tobin would make for a funny ep, though!

I agree; Jake should have been used more. His life of growing up on the station must've been interesting. (The fleas he and Nog released were amusing.) And there must have been more problems getting to know Nog than just their dating habits. Jake introduced Nog to 'hew-mon" food - did he ever try the Ferengi beetles and bugs? How about the snuff? Other Ferengi customs? Quark always seemed ready to instruct people on them! Did Q ever get to like Jake? Did Rom? Rom certainly seemed to accept it after a while, but Q didn't. All these questions...

Other moments that are good are:-Seeing the Enterprise A for the first time in ST4
-The Enterprise going to the second star to the right and straight on till morning in ST6
-Seeing the refit in the dry dock in ST: TMP
-The moment when Gary Mitchell's power is drained by the prison force field and there is a glimer of -hope that is gone within a second.
- The end of Who Mourns for Adonais?
Ohmigosh, yes. And Lwaxana's mourning her daughter's death. And McCoy in the beginning of Encounter at Farpoint? "She'll always bring you home."
I voted for Spock's death scene. How about "Jim. Your name is Jim." in Search for Spock ? The first glimmer of hope after losing the two people he (arguably) loved the most. Don't get me started on my feelings re: McCoy in that movie.
VI - "Young. I feel young....Second star to the right, and straight on 'til morning." Know what else I love? THEY ALL GOT IT! Think they read classic children's lit, or watched Disney? I'm hoping they read it.

My two cats tell me I'm a cat person. One of them is very independent and slightly aloof (typical, typical), but the kitten is a lap cat. If you're awake, she's right there somewhere, just waiting for you to sit down!

I don't refuse to watch any series. Like y'all, I don't care for certain episodes in every one, so I don't watch those as a rule. I'm getting caught up on TNG...try to watch it every time if I'm home (which is doubtful). They're not rerunning DS9 or VOY here (darn it all!), and I'm not home on Wed night to catch ENT. What's a lady to do?

I'm another you can't tell about. I look relatively normal (but, as you say, what is normal?). And I DON'T like all the jokes. insults, etc., aimed at Trekkies. That's when you come up with lines like, "The fans I've met are very real, very normal. They're just in another reality - the future." (Ok, that's a bit of a paraphrase, but I can't quickly find the article.) Of COURSE I'm real and/or normal - what was he expecting? And I'm not in another reality - I have to live in this one. I just visit the other!

Day of the Dove, The Empath, Devil in the Dark - oh, Shore Leave; I, Mudd -- I could name more; think I'll stop.
My absolute fave is Day of the Dove, though

and I hate the idea of a corrupt religious leader. I mean imagine someone like her as the Pope.D o you think we haven't had, or even perhaps still have religious leaders capable of that kind of corruption today?
Of course there are corrupt religious leaders. And political leaders, and familial leaders. But it's getting so stereotypical - there aren't many times on television now that the priest/pastor/minister/leader isn't the butt of the joke or ridiculed or corrupted. Not all religious leaders ARE corrupt. The only reason I liked Bareil is because he seemed to be honest in his beliefs.
On the other hand, absolute power DOES corrupt absolutely. The blending of church and state on Bajor just is a sign that you must be cautious of the politics AND the religion if that happens!

Could Janeway have borrowed the Doctor's portable emitterand taken her Irish fancy piece back to her room? If you could make more portable emitters then I wonder if you could design your ideal man and then take him home with you. A sex slave as it were. :o:o :o
:o to you for thinking of something like that! The possibilities are endless....

Thank you, Ktrek! I was just coming to post that I found 3 (yes, three!) on the second season set. They're the first ones I found all by myself on ANY DVD. Thanks again.
