1.

Oh, well, fans of VOY, NEM and ENT do exist so they must be doing something right.

Frankly I place most of the blame with Stubborn Old Timers, we can't have it our way so most all of them are jumping ship in retaliation, like a tantrum. Imo.

Gorkin: "If there is to be a brave new world our kind will have the hardest time living in it."

Wait you are blaming the core fanbase for trying to be loyal to the franchise and want the show to push foward and improve? Don't forget, one of the reasons trek is so popular is because of these "Oldtimers."

  2. Vorik appeared in a total of 8 episodes over the course of the series. They are:

    -Fair Trade

    -Alter Ego

    -Blood Fever

    -Day of Honor

    -Demon

    -Extreme Risk

    -Counterpoint

    -Renaissance Man

The actor who played Vorik, Alexander Enberg, also appeared in Time's Arrow Part 2 (TNG) as a reporter, Lower Decks (TNG) as Ensign Taurik, and in Voyager's Juggernaut as Malon # 3. He is also the son of Jeri Taylor, one of the series' writers and creators.

I remember him in Lower Decks. Why didn't they do what they should have done with Tom and just carry the original character's name over.

  3. I know this is a long poll, but I was hoping it to be and I had this idea writing the worst case scenario thread in the voyager forum. I guess you can only vote for one option, but you can give your top 5. (But specify the one you voted for)

    Mine

    Duet

    Worst Case Scenario

    Pre-emptive Strike

    In the Cards

    The Inner Light (Voted for)

  4. I just saw this episode for the first time since the year it originally aired, and I think it might have been a whole lot better than I remember. It kind of has shades of "Ship in the Bottle" (TNG) but this one seems original enough and it's always great to see seska again. I loved the comic aspect to who wrote the holonovel/training exercise, as well as the twist of who actually wrote it. Than the episode brought Seska back to her prime and it was fun to watch her and Janeway outwit each other.

Do you think the writers did this episode to give seska a proper death than the cruddy one we got in "Basics?" This one seemed more sadistic and a whole lot more satisfying than the whole "The beam of light kills her" thing we got the last time.

I don't know, this might be one of the best penutimate episode of any series.

  5. Surely "The Cage" has to be included as well?  This is a great episode gdog. I hope they included it.STCage_08_t.jpg

The original episode is not included in the set.

It might be included with season 3 though.

  6. I 've always found that going to conventions can hep you find trekkies and trekkers. usually at the conventions, trek clubs from that region help host it.

Unfortunatly, no conventions come to the bay area, even though we have two good venues for it. (San Jose Arena and Oakland Arena) Are there any trek fans in the bay area?

  7. Trek has been split for a long time. It obviously seems like UPN is going for a Kid demographic, which is why I am having a hard time with ENT and the final few seasons of Voyager. In retrospect, I love TNG and DS9, and like Star Trek because they were written for a mature audience and I guess I'm in that group. If they continue lowering the maturity of trek, I will not watch out of disinterest. That doesn't mean I'm no longer a trek fan.

  8. Yeah, I guess I just got a little excited and ahead ahead of myself.. :)  Can't wait for these season sets to come out..Try looking for these for first season episodes..

Ah, now I really can't wait until tuesday.

  9. A way the ratings could be brought into the 21st century would be by having the shows downloadable. The studios could track how many downloads there were of a specific show and guage how popular it is that way. It would seem to me that it would be more accurate then the current way.

Good idea, only problem with that is that there is already so much stuff with copyright infringment and that stuff. Just imagine how bigger that issue would be.

  10. I have been watching and enjoying what I have seen but it does seem that the judges don't have a clue or something is up and now it seems that the judges messed up on the scoreing of the men all around.  I am glad that they are not blaming the athleats.  It is strange that most of the time I hate sports but when the games come on winter or summer I watch.

    254953

Sad thing is not too long after the incident in the men's all around, there have been a few other incidences of faulty judging springing up.

According to the news article I read earlier, plus I think they mentioned it during one of the broadcasts... they ended up suspending three of the judges after not only their mistake in the all around concerning Paul Hamm, but one claims he was pressured heavily by the crowd to change Alexei Nemov (of Russia)'s score to one that was a bit higher. He said they all began booing so much that he had to do something to make them stop.

What they should do (If Homn likes it or not) is have a shared gold medal. It worked well with that Canadian figure skating pair and the Russians in 2002. One would think the judges should be competent about what they are doing. It's a travesty they aren't.

  11. But really, I don't know. At times I feel as though I am the only Trek fan who sees this franchise that I care about on the brink. I just refuse to blindly accept mediocre material simply because it says "Star Trek" on it, not that I'm accusing anyone here of doing so. I want quality Trek, and I don't see that happening from ENT or yet another movie from Berman, Braga and co.

     :)

    256436

No you're not. I too see this franchise that I liked loyally drendal down into just blandness and mediocrity. This is why I much enjoy the formar series's (DS9, TNG, soon Star Trek) more than I do Enterprise. I'm not even looking foward to this season, because it's the fourth season and the characters are bland bland bland. As for the movie, if B&B weren't involved and someone like Ron Moore, Jon Frakes, (As director) or even Joss Wheadon or JMS, (Guy who did B5) I might have higher hopes. Heck, even if Braga wasn't part of the movie but Berman was, I would have high hopes. Now I'm just not sure. This is why I am loving the DVD's I have baught, with Star Trek on the way.

  12. I loved Below Deks. It was just so interesting to see events on The Enterprise unfold from the point of view of people who just arent informed of the 'top of the line' events on board the Enterprise. We got to see what it was like to be a lowly crew member and there was mystery in the telling of an otherwise mundane storyline. The ending was sad and was a great follow up for a character who had been introduced in that Wesley/Academy episode. I think she was redeemed more than Wesley, and her stand up to Picard was one of the bravest things in Trek...

You mean Lower Decks right? It was a powerful episode. It's a shame Sito Jaxa died, and wasn't aloud to be in DS9.
