  1. Odo must inherently have an inclination towards one side over the other - like a fine tipping of the scales left or right. Maybe it just wants to be a he as that is how it feels more comfortable. Maybe being raised a he made Odo become a he and the female shapeshifter onlt became 'female' in order to woo 'him' into joining the link to what would be acceptable practise to him... :/

  2. Holographic Technology was introduced in TNG till Voyager the present

Holographic Tech has a long way to go to achieve the Virtual  realism of TNG Enviroments.

          :P    :P

But sure, we've seen it be done???

  3. If Voyager is anything to go by, we could all ive forever as Holograms. If you remember that episode with the Vidiian scientist, they transfered her consciousness into a holographic body. Now, arm that with mobile emitter technology and hey presto. My mind walking around in any body i feel like.

  4. I was just surprised that there was not even a mention of a ship ever going back to check on Opaka on the planet.  I understand that she cannot leave but I would think that at least now and then they would check up on her or deliver supplies, and then a mention of the Kai in a meeting or something on the station,

I agree. I mean, it's not like she died or anything. She just ended up stranded on that planet. And i'm sure that had they given it enough research there would have been a way to get her back to civilisation! They just gave up.

  5. What I dont get is how Earth will lead other races to the formation of The Federation but Star Fleet, an essentially Human organisation, will be the military force behind that. And Federation Star Ships will look like Human vessels. What about the advanced technologies of the Vulcans and the Andorians? I mean, look at the mighty Andorian ships. If Andoria is part of the new Federation along with Humans and Vulcans then how come we dont see hybrid ships emerge? Why do they end up looking like more advanced Enterprise designs?

Where are the Andorians during TNG/DS9/VOY? I mean, if there really was an advanced Federation alliance we only seem to see one or two here and there over the decades, with hundreds of Humans and several Vulcans popping up? I feel that Andoria hs been left out of the whole Star Trek equation too much, and the Earth centric attitude of the universe is very non reflective of this galaxial society that is trying to come across.

Even during the movie era we see 'Vulcan' ships, which are opposed to Star Fleet ships (ie, Human ships). Spock was the first Vulcan in Star Fleet but still i dont understand why if this is the military wing of the Federation which includes Vulcan, why there arent more Vulcans in a more technologically integrated fleet of vessels. For all intense and purposes we are left with the Humans running the military for this new Federation and i dont believe that this would be allowed to happen after having seen the pride and sense of distrust evident in the mighty Vulcan and Andorian fleets.

  6. I just HAD to dig this one out and say. Told you so! :naughty:

A post at the TrekBBS by Aatrek contains screen captures of the biographies of Sato and Archer as they appeared onscreen in the episode. The images reveal that Archer will become president of the United Federation of Planets in 2184, and that of the two planets that the Mirror Archer said were named after him, one is Archer IV from The Next Generation episode "Yesterday's Enterprise" while the other is in the Gamma Trianguli sector. The historian who called Captain Archer the "greatest explorer of the 22nd Century" is John Gill, later infamous as the Fuhrer of the planet Ekos from the original series episode "Patterns of Force."

And PS, I know it's not strictly cannon, but it's pretty close to being had a couple of screen shots made it on screen....

  7. While watching recent Enterprise Episodes I was amazed at the level of graphics and detail spoured into episodes; the greater sense of realism when it came to presenting alien worlds, and the seriousness of the drama. However, the ratings are significantly lower than for TNG over 15 years ago when graphics were more wobbly and planets more card board looking. The current generation have been spoiled with CGI effects and huge Holywood budget movies. There is a tendency for them to drift into 'reality' viewing and home make over shows. The culture is changing and Star Trek and the genre it represents is just fading out. The light just cant keep burning forever, and it is the older generation who cling to the franchise with the attachments to the wonder and newety of the first years of TNG. Star Trek needs a break to go and sort itself out, and to wait until the current fads have ended and the public are once again ready to embrace such a show. I myself look forward more to Desperate Housewives now, than I do for Star Trek. I've just moved on. At the end of the day, with studios, it all comes down to numbers...

  8. It has alway annoyed me that the Federation is made up of all these different worlds which probably have the same population of earth and yet the crews of star fleet vessels always just have one or two and loads of humans/human-alien hybrids. This unknown species member is at the head of the UFP. it's just bizarre. I thought the white haired dude was kinda cool though.

  9. I think that it is a terrible way to end the show. Barman and co have consistently dilluted their 'All singing/all dancing new cool Trek' down to a series that relies heavily on the TOS and now the TNG crew. The cast and crew of Enterprise, it feels, are just being side lined as a little diversion away from 'real' Trek for a few years and it seems like now they are saying - 'well that was a fun little diversion but here we go back to the 'real' Trek universe, as represented by Riker and Deanna... Sigh. A sad end to the great show.

But hey kids... it's a long road!!!

  10. Speaking as someone who is gay i would say that that episode tackled the question of whether or not you loved someone for WHO they are as opposed to WHAT they are very well. That episode of DS9 that tackled the gay kiss was very welcome. The fact that Crusher could not love Oden in a different body hi lighted the fact that TNG wasnt ready to embrace such things to make sure that it's ratings remained high
