Oh yes......The one with Data's daughter, Lau ( sp?), nearly broke my heart.
Data's daughter?
I'm going to have to see that one.
Yep. Definately a great and sad episode. It is called "The Offspring", I think it is in season 3.
The two that made me cry was "The Offspring" and the end of Nemesis
another sad part of an episode was the end of "Brothers" and "Skin of Evil", these did not make me cry, yet they definately were sad.

Star Trek: The Next Generation
STARFLEET ACADEMY
#6 Mystery of the Missing Crew
#7 Secret of the Lizard People
#10 Loyalties
These three are the ones that I have read.
I had seen the others, but the ones I read have Data as one of the main characters, or as THE main character.

kool are they hard to find in book stores?Back when the series came out in the early to mid '90's no they were not. However, today it is rather difficult to come by them, unless you luck out at a used bookshop (well, in my area of Florida this is the case..not sure if this is the case elsewhere).

From what Overload is describing, I believe she is referring to the Starfleet Academy series. And yeah, in a couple of the novels Data is only 3 years old in them..I think in one he is 4(but I do not remember). And the others are all Academy aged (18 - 25)
I did not read many of them, just the ones that had to do with Data. They are pretty good books for younger readers, actually. They actually have been around for quite sometime, I think I was in either middle school or just starting high school when they came out with that series.

Checked it out, pretty cool VBG. I have not registered though, mainly because I am not too much of a SW fan.
Though I have passed the link on to my brother, he might be very interested..since he is more of a Star Wars fan than a Star Trek fan. Plus, if I am correct in remembering he has a few friends in school and on the net that are big SW fans too.
Probably will send the link to my sister and her husband too, though they are rarely on the net nowadays...they are a bit of SW fans too.

owning cats all my life and the fact I have seen my cats attack a couple of dogs that had the unfortunate circumstance of finding themselves in our yard. So my vote definately goes to Spot!

Has anyone seen Rocky Horror? For those of you who haven't been lucky enough to view it, its a 70's cult classic musical.Oh heck yes I have seen it, watch it every Halloween on VHS/DVD or on VH1 since I was really little! I have the special edition DVD now. If you guys like that musical, get the special edition DVD...extra stuff is awesome. They have an option to have the audience participation cues.. like when they say "Let's have a toast", you are supposed to throw pieces of toast. This is what was done, and still is done in theaters that play it. A ton of people go in costume, and in many places you are free to jump onstage and sing along as the character you are dressed up as.
You also have an option to have the audience participation audio track too, they went to a viewing of RHPS and recorded the audience..
I would post some of the stuff that is hollered by the audience you hear on the S.E. dvd, but this is a family board so I cannot (easily rated R and probably stuff that could deemed NC-17) so you gotta hear it for yourself. I had only seen the movie without the added audio, until last year.
For all those who do know what Rocky Horror is, lets do the Time Warp :P. This musical has some of the most ingenious songs ever. It's just a jump to the left.
And a step to the righ-ight
Put your hands on your hips...
LOL could not resist that..
Funniest thing of all was my Senior year of high school, Homecoming Skits. Probably most high schools do this..but anyways, each year a theme was picked and each grade's executive board came up with a skit for Homecoming. As luck would have it, Homecoming fell on Halloween in the 1997-1998 school year. So the theme was Horror/Halloween flicks. Us Seniors decided to push the envelope a bit and see if Rocky Horror would be allowed. It was, as long as we presented it as close to school appropriate as possible (which we did as well as keep to the theme which meant having to do with the football game). The opposing squad/school were the Transylvanians, Brad and Janet were our quarterback and head cheerleader, etc. And as a skit is only about 20 minutes long we did not perform the entire film...just selected scenes: Time Warp, Brad and Janet coming to the house, Dr. Scotts arrival, along with a couple added scenes to tie the school theme in to it all. We titled it "THe Class of '98's Totally Censored Picture Show", and our class ended up winning pretty much every category of the competition. It was so cool!!

Most attractive... Data wins that hands down

Now listening to "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" by Gordon Lightfoot

I did change the clocks in the house. I still will always not like Daylight Savings time.

Glasses since I was 11, though I have contemplated contacts from time to time. Though....
Since I was about 13 or 14 the eye doctor had said I should actually get bifocals, since I need glasses for distances and for reading (plus I have an astigmatism). Then, the doctors turn around and keep holding off, mainly because of my age :) Geez, they give me a presciption for glasses and reading glasses but are hellbent and determined to not give me bifocals (no matter how many times I ask). One of these days I will win that argument...I swear! So getting contacts might be out of the question.
I end up just getting my regular glasses, and then buy a cheap pair of reading glasses. Though I mainly wear my regular glasses even for reading(LOL, that is when I am not going without either pair of glasses).

I actually have the one of Data from First Contact, Insurrection, and the figurine from Nemesis. I do also have Geordi from Generations.
All of them over the years were Christmas gifts from my family :)

i mean the actual death wasnt dead.. you see what i mean is that spock died by himself.. he didnt really save kirk then kill himself he went down.. then him and kirk were together wen he died no one saw him .. though his thoughts were trasnfered into B4Hey that is a good point. Maybe by Data transfering his thoughts to B4 gives the chance to build another Data. In a way, that maybe kinda similar to Spock leaving his mind in McCoy's brain. Contra as McCoy called it.
Yeah. Actually, building another body may prove to be a good idea(either his former appearance or possibly human. bold print, is my pick, but if they decided to make him appear human, that woudl be ok too). I mean, yes I originally had opposed that idea....but over the following months after I first saw Nemesis and giving this scenario much thought, I have very quickly changed my mind about this.
Transplanting his memories into a new body may be a good idea...however, I still say that he should be portrayed by Brent Spiner(and I am probably going to be forever stubborn about that
:) ). *shrug* what do you all think?
-
Sounds pretty cool, masterq. I might try and join in on the next session, it has been quite some time since I was last at a trivia chat here.
-
I do not think Data's death was in any similar to Spocks. One, Spock left his thoughts and mind in McCoy. So the mind of Spock really was not dead. I am not sure why Spock did that: did he think he had chances of coming back. I do not think that Spock knew that his body would be born again on the Genesis Planet. I think Spock left his mind in McCoy thinking may end up in the brain of another Vulcan.good point, Data.

I actually had been lurking for about a week, since I had seen the link at ST.com. Then after that week of reading the old threads, I ended up joining not too long after Takara did, and the rest is history.
Nowadays I do not post much because I have a lot going on in my life. Yeah I do have a high post count, but majority of those posts came from my first few months here.

Borg, hands down.
Second would be the Q.
Overload. As much as I too would like to vote for android (of course because of my favorite Trek character of all time.... Data). The first androids appeared in TOS, so they were not new in TNG. True Soong - Type androids were new to the world of Trek, but the species/race as a whole weren't.
So as I posted Borg is my choice <_<

I think takara would want to visit, often. Could you imagine a whole crew of Datas? Nobody would EVER win an argument. Everybody is awake 24 hours a day. Nobody eats. I mean, how dull can life be Takara? Work, work, work, all day everyday. I'm sure some funny situations could arise. <_< :huh:Data would no longer be unique. That would be very sad for him.
You are right, Data. He did value his uniqueness greatly, and I think he may be saddened at the loss of being unique to the Universe.
Though, having other androids around would make it so he was no longer alone in the world. I guess it gets a little lonely being a race/species of 1 after awhile. Well, his mother also ended up being an android so he is not entirely alone.
As for the original post topic and all of them on board being Data.....no, way. True all would have their own personalities, but still.....ummm, no.
-
I can't really add anything to this since I don't believe Data is dead. No body/parts found - no dead. That's the general rule for Hollywood, I believe.Lessa and I wrote a story that had Q saving Data. I know other scenarios have been talked about as well.
Data lives
Exactly. <_<
There is no way that Nemesis was the end for him.

I was a gymnastics instructor for 5 years 1998 - 2003, (I myself had been a gymnast for 20 years 1983 - 2003).
Currently I am finishing two degrees, one in Chemical technologies and the other in Interdisciplinary Studies(Biology, Chemistry, Physics).
I like to try and prevent myself from getting bored, and I adore Science and Mathematics ( I was a Physics major, and got bored being in one discipline of science).

Hey, CJLP, if you do not start a poll, I may. Is that OK? Maybe it could be hightligted on the Portal too. Think about starting it. It is an important issue. It may affect the whole future of the Star Trek Universe.WOW, am I getting dramatic for someone who does not post much.
I second what is in the bold print. Definately is a great idea to start a poll.
about getting dramatic. Data, not really...it is just a topic that you feel strongly about is all. :o

Glad to hear you are back, Takara.

Most of the Trek personality tests I have taken, I end up being Data. There are rare occasions, though, that I end up with Spock(very rarely though it does occur, but still I thought it would be mentionable).

I voted for both, because either is fine. On the ship or on a planet(or a combo of both), it does not matter too much to me as long as the storyline keeps moving right along.
StarTrek Magazines
in Star Trek Books & Fan Fiction
Posted · Edited by Yillara_Soong
I used to get Star Trek magazine, occasionally. Especially if there was articles concerning my favorite characters or upcoming movies. Same with ST Communicator, or Starlog, Dreamwatch, SFX, SciFi Magazine. Or, when they were in print anyhow, the TNG magazines.
I have not gotten the magazines in quite awhile now, I flip through them to see if they are interesting.
But actually, though I am a Trek and particularly a TNG fan...the magazines I purchased or had purchased more astronomy, dance, gymnastics, gardening related magazines, and National Geographic than I purchase the Trek ones.
