    How many siblings?

    I have one sister who is 22 months younger than me(she doesnt post here much anymore, EmilSoong)

    and my little brother is 6 years younger than me(was wookieofborg when he was here).

     

    I emphasize younger because some people swear they are older than me(my brother and sister both look older than me and they are taller too. My sister by about 7 inches, my brother by about a foot....I am now at 5'1")

     

     

    I of course am the oldest at 23..people are always saying how the middle kids have it rough....but what about the oldests and youngests?? Ack, love my siblings to death but, there are times when they drive me nuts! J/K we had our fights, but they are great I love my family! :tear: :(

     

    Yeah our family is basically small....but my dad is an only child, and my mom is #6 out of eight kids(the youngest is 43, oldest is 61). So we know a bit about the small family and the large families.

     

    There are 16 of us cousins on my mom's side(I am #10), not counting my cousins husbands or wives(as well as their kids, step-kids, foster kids, ect.). A family get together can be quite the event!

    If the east coast were a litttle more straight we'd be in trouble but the storms seem to follow the line of the coast, we still get the effects of the storms but rarely (if ever) do we get full force.

    Exactly. Main reason we only get the most minor of things that come through.. Last dead on hit was Edouard for my hometown, last year...but by the time that little tropical storm hit, it was nothing but wind and a little bit of clouds. It formed inside between the gulf stream and the coast...

    I do enjoy a good storm and like I said before, as long as no one is hurt and there's no major damage then bring it on lol.

    Lets hope it dies down a bit... I too enjoy a storm now and then(still kind of want to be a storm chaser), but this one is strong right now. In my situation we usually only get sideswiped by a storm because of where the Gulf stream is in relation to my hometown. Unless the conditions are right ,the storms hit the Gulf stream and usually follow it up and out from our area. From where I am the Stream is appx 50 miles out(always'll remember that because my family and I went deep sea fishing out there...definately had a blast then)

    I enjoy a good storm, as long as no one is hurt and there is little or no damage. So far we've had a "dry spell" here in Va for a couple years now. Which I guess is a good thing. Like I said though, if no one is hurt and there's no damage Bring it on lol

    VBG, I DO NOT think this upcoming storm will be something you want at all!

     

     

     

    FABIAN at this time is a poewrful CATEGORY 4, winds 145, gusts to 180mph!

    My opinion:

     

    Data's dead.  It was an honorable and noble death.  But he's dead and nothing's going to change that.  Do I want him back?  Sure I want him back.  Just like I'd want a loved one who died back.  But will I get that person back?  No.  The same with Data.  I don't expect him to come back.

     

    Data's my favorite character.  I cried a little when he died.  (Gosh, it was so sad.)  And B4's cute and everything.  But he's not Data.  He could never be Data.  What was it Data was saying in "The Measure of a Man?"  I don't know if this is the same thing, but he said if Maddox did what he was going to do, he'd still have his memories, but the essence would be lost.  I think this is the same sort of thing, I'm not sure.  Anyway, B4 might have Data's memories, but he doesn't have his essence... his soul.  And yeah, I think Data had a soul.

     

    I'd rather B4 become his own person.  He has all that Data memory inside of him, but he can't use it.  I'd rather he learn about the Enterprise and maybe even become an officer... if that's possible.  And then every once in a while he'd say something Data said or he'd say something Data-like.  "Intriguing," or maybe that little "hmm" Data always does.

     

    But that's where I stand.  Data's dead and he's not coming back.  I miss him greatly.  B4 is not Data and never will be.

    I agree with you(shock of all shocks to a great many people, I am very sure). There is not a day that goes by that I don't want to find out that Nemesis's finale was just a horrible nightmare...find out that Data is alive and well. But I have always known that this eventuality could occur...been thinking it was a possibility for nearly 12 years now. That any given moment he could be taken from us...possibly to never return. And apparently this has happened... :P

     

    I like what RikerChick said too...

    If I recall right Star Trek is science fiction. Key word there, fiction. If I don't like the way they do something I don't go along with it. If Data is dead to you, cool, he's dead, if he's alive, he's alive. In my happy little world Data is alive and well and Will is still single. Fiction is fantasy and there are no rules for fantasy.
    Star Trek is fiction..and fiction and fantasy can be anything you want it to be.. To many B4 will become Data, to others he will be alive(after being rescued in infinately possible ways), he could show up in another century(like he did in Time's Arrow, or countless fan fics...my 12 year old one included-yeah one of these days I'll finish, perpetual time travel is a pain in the rear to write about...especially when you have to take into account a non corperal entity with a screw loose-not Q mind you)! Whatever you want it can happen! He could even become human, like in the novel Metamorphosis. Or a holograph like someone suggested(the Moriarty idea). Our mind is simply a playground for us..there are no rules...like RC wrote so well!

     

    And from my friend, Data..

    Data is alive.

    I, of course agree. My choice :) ...end of story.

    Your idea your opinion, I have my idea and my opinion. This has been argued countless times before by tons of other people. I have even posted my thoughts on this subject at least two times....so if you want my answer to this....just search on the older threads that are on the 3, 4, 5 and so on pages. Not worth arguing about, as much as I adore Data....but very tired of restating my opinion, so search for it there.

     

     

    OK, OK EDIT: Sorry about sounding like I am fuming a bit...just tired of the same old same old discussion...we will always have our own opinions... yes he transfered memories into B4, but B4 will NEVER be Data. Ando no one could EVER get me to change my mind about that...no one, not even my bset friend or my family could ever change my opinion. Sorry, no can do.

     

    Dax is still herself, though she has memories and abilities that suface from Curzon, Jadzia, et al. But she is still to some degree still Ezri.

    And for Data's fan, I beg you, don't look at any Star Trek movie in French.. This is painfull

    eep! Never! My little brother was going to as a joke set the language to French and I screamed at him. He decided very wisely not to do that... very rarely does the voice work for the actor or actress...usually is scary. I mean sometimes it is good for a laugh...like Orlando Jones in the library scene of "The Time Machine"...I chuckle evreytime he says Live Long and Prosper in French....but is not very easy to take..

    I think he's holding out for an apology from the person responsible for deleting his post and editing it,which probably isn't going to happen.Although,I've heard from other folks that rogue's situation isn't as atypical here as we thought :assimilated: maybe more people out to say something?

    I am glad to hear you have decided to stay.. :frusty: Hopefully roguedawg may make a comeback, even if he only occasionally posts(as some have done in the not so distant past)

    Argggh, one of these days I will get a camera mount... :frusty: I really want one. I would kill to have been able to take pictures of events I have seen with my scope! Especially when the "C" fragment hit Jupiter back in 1994("String of Pearls" comet or Shoemaker-Levy 9 that broke up into 21 pieces, for those who did not already know)...

     

    Data, if the pictures do come out well, please share.. :assimilated:

    Havent broken out the telescope yet(darn thing has to be calibrated, the mirror is shifted so I have to fix it....still trying to figure it out, but I know I can fix it), but I hope to have it ready soon. But I have been checking the sky out...Mars is beautiful!

    I might do the same thing, once I get all the TNG episodes I want(or all of them, dont know yet) $100-$120 per season is a little too steep for me...recording might be a better solution(I taped a few episodes a few months ago....but the tape was old so, they did not turn out so great)

    I take Spanish and Latin at school, and am teaching myself the Cyrillic alphabet and hieroglyphics (basic ones-- syllables, titles, numbers, etc.) at home.

    Cyrillic can be tough. But interesting nonetheless. And hieroglyphics is just awesome!

    Though I am not exactly a fan of Enterprise...I would personally avoid trying to find out what goes on a head of time... It's kind of like knowing what your birthday presents are ahead of time...spoils the surprise and fun of it all.

     

    I liked reading the interviews for TNG and the TNG movies, but....I was real upset when the spoiler for the end of the movie was in an intervie with Brent Spiner. True it was blanked out, but part of the regular interview was in the spoiler area too so I selected the area to finish the last sentence of the non-spoiler part....and too late I got a glimpse of what the end of the movie was going to be and, well....after my complete angry hissy fit, I prayed until the movie came out that his death was just bull, to throw people off(but, it was not...unfortunately)

     

    But other than that one goof up..I try to avoid spoilers.
