  1. We should go back to the moon because we're starting to run out of cheese!

I'll get the cow, you get the farmer. :)

OMG! You guys!  bad one, but amusing...

Yes, I would like to see us go back to the moon if only for a couple missions. People keep pushing the travel to Mars idea, but it has been a couple decades since humans planted a foot on the moon....we've been merely orbiting in various levels around the earth(and definately not without incident)...so why push Mars? We need to do baby steps before we walk, then run into the cosmos. ACK, to put it is simple terms I guess is....think someone who has never seen SNOW before, decides to do the Olympic Ski Jump. That person may get lucky and land on his feet, or crash to the ground and die(gross and harsh but true and honest)...

I wish to become an astronaut(though my increased disability may make that impossible :) , and going to Mars sounds great...but I would not mind setting more realistic goals of the moon(or heck the Space Station, or even merely orbiting the Earth-which I have wanted to do since I was about 3)

  2. History

Interesting, VBG... History is a wonderful subject, I voted for it however I voted for it in the social science poll(think it is in Off Topic)... Not trying to be a smarta**, but I was checking this thread and was confused when I saw your post...so I scrolled back to other posts to see I was in the right thread and not the social science poll.

  3. I loved the idea! It was very fitting, that is why I wanted share this with everyone.

Side note:if you scroll down a bit..I also really like the new planetary moon names, in particular Saturn's. It is so great to finally see Scandinavian/Germanic mythology being used for names(Ymir, Suttung, et al.) as well as Celtic(Albriorix)

Agreed. It is getting a little boring with all the greek mythology names.I'd also like to see more chinese and ancient native american names, both cultures practiced astronomy of one sort or the other.Maybe even native australian names, too.

Yes, I agree...I love Greek mythology, but it is getting old. I was thrilled about the Germanic, Celtic and Scandinavian ones because those are mythologies from some of my ancestry. Native American would really be interesting too(ok, ok, so I am also part Cree)

Chinese would be great, as would native Australian.

Or literary, because after all they have used Shakespearean names...

  4. I am going to try very hard to make it out to the foothills just east of Fresno to check out this event.I missed Halley's comet as a Kid,I missed a close Mars approach back in the late 80's,early 90's.I don't want to miss this, too.

Oh, I hope so too, I think its going to be awesome, Mars is getting pretty bright already... I am just praying that it does not rain that day...I am so sick of that.

  5. The only advantage living in California has over Louisiana,as far as I'm concerned is that at least here,we don't worry about hurricanes.Well,I guess we also don't worry about West Nile Virus, either.I still miss home, though.

True and living here in this area of Florida, the gulf stream is 55 miles out, storms in a lot of occasions will follow that...so except for sideswipers we dont get to see very many direct hits of hurricanes...

The difference is true, roguedawg....however on this side we dont get the magnitude of earthquakes that California does. Note:In Florida, the St.John's River is an ancient fault line(believe it or not, fellow Floridians), we do get faint tremors from time to time(probably barely registers on the Richter scale)...usually feels like a large truck rumbling down the road. But nothing on the par of California whos San Andreas is recently active.

  6. I think I have to go with Orlando, not that it's especially great but I had a good time there the couple times I was there. If I lived there I know I'd have a different view of it though.

Orlando can be a lot of fun. My dad used to work there as a musician for most weekends. I also went there for gymnastics competitions(most wonderful time in Orlando was the 1998 AAU Age Group Women's Gymnastics Championships..I placed in the top ten in three events and the All Around! Disney's Wild World Of Sports Complex is awesome! B):bow: :( B) B) B) :( ) The theme parks are pretty cool.(Personal favorites: is The Boardwalk of Nations at Epcot,Tower of Terror at MGM-could go on that ride all day! :( , And most of the rides at Disney). One of these days I really want to go to Animal Kingdom, I saw a special of that on thr Travel Channel.

Hmmm, St. Augustine is a historical town(my hometown for over 21 years), but not my favorite....

My favorites that I have been to(that I am old enough to remember): St. Petersburg, Russia(went there and several other cities when I was 13)

Washington DC(eek! love the Lincoln Memorial, Smithsonian, and the Library of Congress!Went there when I was 2, 13, and 17)

Asheville, NC(and surrounding areas, family skiing trip-Sugar Mtn in 1990, very fond of the Blue Ridge Mtns! :) )

    Helen, GA(awesome place!)

hmm, there are others...but I might add them later

  7. Yess...and no. We have what we need, but it is not all together. I have gone through tropical storms, and sideswiping hurricanes such as Floyd and Irene(true Irene was west coast of Florida, but we got the wind and rain). Of my family, I am the only one who constantly keeps getting updates on storms(actually I feel that tropical cyclones are really rather fascinating, even still kinda want to be a storm chaser. Would love to go on a reconisance flight to check out ahurricane)

  9. I have been around, not much lately though... for main reason is that I have spent a good deal of time at the hospital(my Physical therapy two days aweek, Dr.'s Appointments, soon I go to a neurologist to figure out how much nerve damage was done to my arm). Also, I have joined and been posting a lot at three other boards. One is actually devoted to Pokemon(no laughing, people B) ), the other two have nothing really to do with Trek at all. I have several big projects that I am working on. Helping my brother with his schoolwork(He's a Senior this year). Hanging out with my little sister(due to her injury she is unable to work..she has what is called RSD-reflex sympathetic dystrophy, a condition I am beginning to battle myself.), so she comes over to the house...I try to keep her spirits up. Chatting with my friends.....been very very busy lately/

  10. Pepsi just added a new flavor to their line...and it is not too bad at all... Vanilla Pepsi. Not as strong as coke's version(which I cannot stand), but not bad at all...

Pepsi has a vanilla coke now but not as strong as Coke's though, hmm, I guess I'll pass on giving it a try, I wish Coke's was STRONGER! B)

Really? STRONGER?? Wow! you must really like vanilla a lot!

  11. Usually I do not listen to this style of music..I used to think that this song was not too bad...then...they play it to death on the radio. So, I now usually switch it off reall quickly when I hear the first few strains of it. No offense is intended, I probably wont mind the song too much again when they lay off of playing it every hour or two on the radio stations.

  12. Every one except Data, his positronic brain has been atomised so thus he is dead but i  think Laforge will work with B4 to fill his spot.

:dude::bow: Oh, ok... it is your opinion, after all. however I do not think B4 could ever replace Data. Yes, he has his memories....those are merely the images, but not the experience.

Example: a picture of a child blowing out a birthday cake... you know that feeling and action and everything...why? you have had the experience, the feeling, of doing that. B4 has the images, not the experiences like Data has/had. Data lived almost 42 years, that is a ton of experiences to try and experience for someone so very young(B4). He may be like Data in the end, but no one will ever replace him.

    Just my viewpoint....

"there's been no one like him anywhere, anywhere where he is....."-lyrics from "A Heart Full Of Love" from Les Miserables, Eponine sings this. (and this is so true, there is only one Data, as there is only one each of us..)

  13. LORE Rocks!!!! He is the better of the Sons Soong he has a personality!

:dude: Ok, he is awesome as a villain, I give him that much...but the better of the two, darn that will be as long debated as the whole chicken and the egg thing. Data will always be the better brother, IMO (and, no not just because I really really really like him  ).

  14. the only mountain dews in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada are the original, the red kind, and the blue kind.

i didnt know there was orange. sweet.

(well actually i only like the original flavour. the red and the blue are nasty.)

I knew of Pepsi Blue, but there is a Blue Mtn Dew?!

Ack! I think they are going overboard with new flavors(such as my brother told me is another new flavor in the works is supposedly strawberry pepsi?!)

hmmm, Pepsi just added a new flavor to their line...and it is not too bad at all... Vanilla Pepsi. Not as strong as coke's version(which I cannot stand), but not bad at all...would not drink it much. I tend to prefer... Mountain Dew(in very small quantities) and Caffeine free Coke

  15. Definately will take some getting used to for me... had to look up some info for a discussion/trivia I am doing at another site(really wanted to stump people, lol) and the library interface was interesting, the added pics were great, but took forever to load(I am on DSL) and some images havent been added yet :dude:

We are given the option to take Spanish but im not going to.The only reason i would want to learn Spanish is so i can know why those dirty mexicans(i am referrring to the group at my school not the Mexican people in general-I dont wanna offend anybody and if i did say so and i will edit my post immediatly :dude: )are talking about behind our backs. They always talk in groups in Spanish and as they do it they are laughing at us.   Ok im done ranting.

Anyways  I wish they taught German around here.I have always wanted to learn German. My ancestors were German and i am very intrigued by the German Language!

German is wonderful...I loved that class!! My ancestors are German too(amongst other ancestries), cool!!

I agree, knowing a bit of Spanish would help. I do not think they are dirty Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, or anything. But them plopping themselves in the middle of the hallways, pointing at students passing in said hallways and babbling away in Spanish...can get on one's nerves after awhile. At my mom's place of work they do the same thing...block the walkway and babble at warp speeds.. Other people do not do this. I have never seen a group of Italian, French, German or any other language speaking people do this at all...hmmm, oh, well. Ok, Ok, they can actually say the same about us...I mean groups of English speaking people group together, and they might not understand what they are saying, so I guess the groups technically are even.

Hmmmmm i would have to say Pulaski. The way she insulted Data I just wanted him to reach out, snap her neck and say"What NOW BI**H!!!!!!!!!!"OMG i hated her so much!:dude:

Here, here.. that is another one who is annoying, actually I dont think that I just severely dislike her. LOL! We could only wish he'd do that, but we all know he would not....even with emotions.

Hmmm, Yar irks me too her attitude towards Data at the end of "The Naked Now".... grrr, that was just evil! !
