Actually, in Encounter At Farpoint, he was called a Ltn by Picard when they are on the Battle Bridge.Which is what I can recall as well, also I had had at least some of those cards(like the one VBG posted) and I recall it saying Ltn. on it too.
Though I think on one of the later Season 1 episodes they slip up and call him Ensign.

Sometimes in rush hour, I think it would be great to have transporters.oh, definately. Also, for the period of time I was traveling nearly an hour to go to school(up to 4 days a week) I definately wished for a transporter more than once.

The Times Union article goes on to say that this is a very unusual weather pattern due in part to the Bermuda High remaining too far South, and mid latitude disturbances that usually are further North but remaining lower.I guess this kind of changes the predictions that they had for a higher activity hurricane season. But then again, the season is still relatively early on...so we will all have to wait and see.

What I don't understand is why we get thunderstorms everyday but there are no hurricanes brewing?Actually, UH, if you think about it.. most of the activity for the Atlantic Season does not kick up until early to mid August. There are some June & July storms, but they are often few and far between. And many that affect the coast do not get started until Late August through October (think Isabel, Hugo, Floyd, Frederick, David, etc. etc ).
In the case of the N Florida area, many of the major storms we get in the afternoons here form over the St. Johns River. And because this area is kind of trapped in between the river and the Ocean, there is a constant flow of the storms. And in the case of the Atlantic, there is just apparently not enough that is needed to get any of the storms going. There are tropical waves, but actually not as many as there have been in the recent years, plus they are just not building enough nor are they circulating to become cyclones.
Actually I am relieved that we have returned to the old Florida pattern. I hated the droughts we have had in the last half decade, especially hating the wild fires that stemmed from the lack of rain (like the major wildfire in 1998, and the minor one in either 2000 or 2001)

Maybe I'm missing something, but each link I go to doesn't show me either storm anyone is talking about. Am I missing something here or is it just me?!? :oTHe links provide people with the opportunity to check on any current storms, that way people can keep ahead of the game and be able to be better prepared (at least I hope it can help). Those two sites get constant updates, as soon as a new advisory is issued...so you can get the new location, wind speed, possible strike path. On one, if not both sites, you can find the old storms in the archives.
The storms that have been discussed in the earlier pages were storms that were being experienced or tracked at that particular time. So, if you go to the link and cannot find the storm being referred to in the posts...that is why. If you go back and look at the dates of the posts previous to this, many of them are from late summer and into the winter of 2003.
Currently at accuweather's site you can click on Agatha & Blas' names to get their track history for this year's Pacific Hurricane season. Blas' just not too long ago received its final advisory (I do not catch much in the way of the Pacific Hurricane season, as I live near the coast of the Atlantic. THough I tend to check out the eastern Pacific season, just to see the typhoons and super typhoons). At that site, the names in green have not been used yet this year, in red is currently active storms and blue means that they have died out and you can see where they had went. You can also scroll down a little and select the basin you are interested in viewing, and read the update info including which tropical waves they think will be ones that are potentially going to become depresssions, storms and hurricanes.

Both Pulaski and Crusher were annoying to me to a certain degree...but if I had to pick which one bugged me less, I would then pick Pulaski. She is definately the stronger character of the two.I agree. Why was she only on one season? She was definately a better doctor
More businesslike. Crusher was too much flirty all the time with Picard. :(
I do not remember as to why she was on for only one season exactly.
It will either come down to the popularity of the character of Dr. Crusher, or the fact that Gates McFadden was prepared to make a return to the cast of TNG.
Does anyone know why Gates McFadden left the show after Season 1? Her choice or was it TPTB?If I am correct, it was her choice. I used to have the TNG Companion book, but I do not have it any longer so I cannot confirm this.

No, I do not believe that they will cause bad luck.
Nor have I sent them, either via email or the paper ones people would pass around in class during my elementary school years(when I got one marked "Pass Me On" or "Chain Letter" I would throw it away, often times without ever reading it beyond the title).

Ok, favorite moments.. this is definately not an easy thing to pick.
Pretty much anything concerning him could be counted as a favorite moment in an episode. But one that would be near or at the top of my list would be the scenes between Data and his daughter, Lal in "THe Offspring".

TOS when I was really little(as in a toddler), then the TOS movies up until TNG started. I liked Trek a lot the entire time, but my interest really took hold when TNG started.

Did you know that barometric pressure can affect your fibromyalgia, Meniere's Disease or your migrane?Yep, I did(it also affects other illnesses and injuries as well). And yes I do own a barometer, not to mention I can check it via weather.com or other weather related websites.
Right now the storms have let up, but they were quite severe a few moments ago. And the barometric pressure is 30.03 and falling. But this is pretty much same ol' same ol' where Summer afternoons/evenings in N. FL are concerned.

Very tough season as I liked pretty much all of them equally.
I voted for "Data's Day", though my vote nearly went to "Brothers" and "BOBW II"

I have posted about it a few times before. So rather than going into details again, I will say that I liked Nemesis...will forever dislike the ending(again, for reasons I have posted about countless times before...here and the very very brief time I was at ST.com), but liked it nonetheless.
I usually rank it as # 2 of the TNG films, but in complete honesty the other three all switch around spots #2 through #4 from time to time. It ranks not too much different when I add in TOS. Only you add TWOK & TVH into the top five(tying with one of the TNG films.)
One that will NEVER change is my #1 pick, even when I add in the TOS films...First Contact is the best Trek film.

My top three are:
1) Spock
2) McCoy
3) Scotty

-5 out of 4 people have trouble with fractionsThat is the one my brother had on his trombone case, though I think he has it on his car window now
I have seen a lot of them, many are quite amusing.
One of them that I still think is amusing is
"St. Augustine: A quaint drinking village with a fishing problem"
Instead of my car(well, I decided not to get a car until after graduating from High School), when I was about 16 or 17, I placed the following on a notebook of mine in this order.
"Starfleet Academy"
"The Earth Is Full, Now Go Home"
"Ask Me If I Care"
I had just thought it to be funny at the time..
I had "Honk if parts fall off" on my other car, but I got startled a couple times when people would actually honk. Especially since the two that honked, were a) tailgating me and B ) were semi-trucks.

Yes, I have read it a few times. On my own at age 7, then again at age 13. Then for one of my English papers, I did a report on it in High School.
I have not yet seen the movie though.

Great job everyone.

Loved it, read it when I was little, own the DVD, going to get the extended version DVD when it comes out. (same with the other two
)
Have they decided to make "The hobbit" yet?Are they going to do "the silmarillion"?
There has been talk about the Hobbit, and that it would be done by Jackson. As for the Silmarillion... I do not know.
-
Yes I do.
Mainly beef, chicken & seafood(both fish & shellfish, I would list all the types I like but that might take a while. Pickled herring, lobster, crab, shark, & tilapia are near the top of the list).
I will eat pork, but not very much..a couple of bacon strips once and awhile, porkchops whenever that is the planned meal for the family, spare ribs (same as the chops). I will eat ham, but I do not like the taste of it much so I usually avoid it.
Venison, veal & lamb are also very good. And I have eaten, and liked the taste of: gator tail, buffalo, pheasant, elk, and duck. I have always been curious whether or not they should be in this category, but I like escargot (snails) as well.
Even though I like all these and eat quite a bit of it during meals, I actually eat more vegetables & fruits.
Two(possibly three if you count the last one) that I swear I will never eat again in my life..... Cow's tongue, sardines, and caviar. Bleeeeecchhhh....I tried those a couple times while in Russia, and I did not like them much at all.

didnt they alredy get contact?? few radio wave's or something like that?I've heard they had significant events on occasion but never a repeat from the same area of space. "Proof" would be a repeating signal from the same space and on the same frequency right?
Yes, it should be a repeating signal from the same area.
I had SETI on two of my computers, well, one was the family computer & one was mine. But both systems have subsequently been replaced, and the program has not yet been redownloaded onto either system.
In the time that I DID have that program on, I did not have anything significant on it. And since it was about 1 1/2 to 2 years ago that I had the program on the family computer, and almost a year ago on my old computer.. I do not recall how many units were completed.

Yeah, same here. It was always taught in school that the river was unique in that aspect, and I think they have discovered a couple more but I am not sure of that.Actually there is a river that flows through town, when I was a kid it was supposed to be unique that it was one of only a couple in the US that flowed North, but I guess new science has determined that many rivers flow North.Have I mentioned how incredibly hot, sticky and muggy it gets here?LOL, it is not too bad IMO. Through most of the summer, I leave the A/C off when driving in my car (true, not the case for my home). But I know many many people who would wholeheartedly agree with you. What does bug me a bit is the muggy part.
Florida is the lightning capital of the nation. As I am typing this a large roll of thunder just happened. Yes, you are very correct about that. Definately known for lightning storms.
edited: current avatar is a picture of the river mentioned above. I used to drive over the bridge from where the picture was taken.I thought that pic looked familiar.
I have lived in North Florida for almost 22 1/2 years. I was born in South Florida, and then shortly after I was born my family moved to NY(where my sister was born) for a couple years before settling down in N. Florida(where my brother was born, and a lot of my family live).

That was a great story, mj.
In my case, my mom was the one who got me started into liking Trek. I already was obsessed with astronomy & space travel, so she introduced me to TOS when I was a toddler.
Then when TNG was about to start, she rented all of the available TOS movies and I watched them. THen Encounter at Farpoint started and the rest is history.
The rest of my family followed suit... pretty much in the following order: my sister(right about when TNG started, but she liked Spock from what TOS she did watch beforehand), my brother(starting around First Contact).
My dad, well I am not entirely sure when or if he ever really did get into watching Trek( I believe it was a little while after my sister & I did). He still is not too much into it, he will watch if that is what is on TV and says he liked the movies.
Who's the cooler android?
