  1. I got my friend into TNG and VOY, he got into TOS on his own, he doesnt really like ENT but thinks its ok, but refuses to get into DS9, the dominion war was the best trek ever..

Has he ever watched DS9? Try to talk him into watching from start to finish, in order.

  2. I remember watching that one. As a Odo/Quark supporter, I find it to be a very, very intriguing episode. I love how these two argue all the time. ;)

I loved the Quark line when Odo was hurt and Quark was dragging him to the top of the Mountain and Odo told him to leave him. Quark responded by telling him that he wasn't trying to save him, he was taking him along as "Emergency Rations" and "If you die I'm going to eat you!" lol. A classic line for sure.

  3. Encounter At Farpoint a couple of days before it officially aired. A friend recorded it from the satellite feed to the TV stations. Ahh for the good old days of 10 foot dishes and unencrypted feeds. We watched all of TNG before it aired on regular TV.
I too used to watch a lot of shows in that way. I watched all of TNG from late 1990 till the end of the series and some of DS9 that way as well as Quantum Leap and a lot of NFL football.

  4. Season: 5

    Episode No: 507

    Episode Name: The Ascent

Written by Written By: Ira Steven Behr & Robert Hewitt Wolfe

    Original Air Date: 11-25-1996

Nog and Jake are moving in together and Captain Sisko is unsure this is such a good idea. More a matter of fatherly home sickness rather then concern for his son's wellbeing though. When Nog arrives after his first year at Starfleet Academy he is very disciplined and eager to prove to Captain Sisko that he will do a good job.

Will this clash with Jake, who is on his own for the first time in his life?

Meanwhile Odo has been ordered to take Quark to appear before a Federation Grand Jury on Infernia Prime. The Trip will take 8 days to arrive so Quark and Odo will have plenty of time to get to know each other better. Quark even tries to get Odo to play a quick game of Fisbin.

On the way they run into some "problems" which cause them to crash land on a planet that can barely sustain life. So with little food, no water and near freezing conditions these 2 adversaries must rely on each other to survive.

  5. No review available, and no poll either! ARGH! Can we get a poll put in here? Kthx.

Loved this episode. I give it a 5. Great acting from Shimerman, and Klingons were great too. Loved seeing Gowron again. You knew Quark wouldn't die, but the way it happened... unexpected. Loved it. Excellent.

I don't know what happened to the poll but I've added it now.

  6. I've always meant to take the TNG episode and this one and splice them together as best I could to make it run together as one. I'm sure someone out there has already done it but it'd be an interesting 'episode' to watch like that.

All that would accomplish would be the fact that one notices even more that the ENT stuff doesn't really fit into the episode - Riker really doesn't strike me as completely lost and unsure what to do about Pressman. One would also notice even more how much (naturally) Frakes and Sirtis have aged. And that the background they had for their "fake Ten Forward" didn't fit. And that they actually stole a scene from "Menage A Troi". And so on and so on. ;)

I would only do it for myself, so knowing that the ages and weights of Frakes and Sirtis wouldn't match and so on wouldn't be a big deal to me. Would the spliced episode actually 'work' like that? Probably not but it's still something I'd be interested in watching at least once.

The part that would probably interest me the most though would be the actual editing process.

  7. Star Trek V came out 2 years after TNG went on the air, so that one doesn't count in relation to the movies released before TNG came out.

Compared to the other movies, TMP doesn't stand up but in the day it came out it was a popular movie. Could have been better but we were just happy to have new Star Trek.

III wasn't as good as II and IV was better than it too but I wouldn't call it a stinker.

  8. I decided to skin the new board myself, Invision is coming out with yet another upgrade in a couple of months and I didn't want to hire someone to make a custom skin that would only be good for a few months.

It's not perfect and is still a bit of a work in progress but you can see it here:

    http://www.startrekfans.net/test

Everyone should be able to log in, I transferred the database into over and upgraded it to 3.1.4 so I could make the skin and try it out. Not all of the posts portion of the database properly imported, so not all of our posts are there and that may cause a few errors here and there but you can click around and see what it looks like.

I don't have a portal for it yet so it's just the forum view but from what I've been reading Invision has a portal solution that I'll be able to use here.

I'm looking to have the upgrade done in a few days.
