  1. I've been waiting for them to do this, they've had TOS on there in the past but never any of the other series. I probably won't use Netflix for the streaming though. I built myself a home server and have all of my Trek on my server and can access it all on my TV as it is anyway so Netflix would just be a redundancy for me.

  2. I'm going to move the board to a new host and upgrade it there. The current host is kind of behind the times in services and pricing, so I think it's time for a move. Doing so will cause the board to go offline for a while at some point while the domain name is re-routed to the new host. That could take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours when it happens.

I wouldn't expect any of that to take place for a week or more though.

  3. Something one of my brothers pointed out that I missed the first time around, this is a screen shot of a scene where the new Murdock is in the psych ward of an Army hospital and getting ready to watch a movie that is a spoof of an A-Team episode and even uses the A-Team theme music.

Anyway, the first name on the screen is one that was pretty funny... It's supposed to be the "star" of the fake movie.

  4. It's a good thing they have a head up there. Otherwise that would be a long time to hold it in.

That's the name of the crater, it's named that because together with Surveyor Crater it looks like a snowman with the smaller crater making the snowmans head and the larger making the body of the snowman. Since the Surveyor 3 probe landed in the body of the snowman it was named Surveyor Crater.

  5. One topic that I've always been fascinated by is the Apollo moon landings. Recently I've been re-reading the book "A Man on the Moon" by Andrew Chaikin, it's a book I've read about 10 (or more) times over the past 15 or so years and it goes into great detail about each mission. It's nearly 700 pages but it's a really good bok that I'd reccommend to anyone that wants to study the Apollo missions and includes interviews of all of the moon voyagers except one I believe and that's Jack Swigert who passed away in 1982.

Anyway, as I've been reading the book I've also been watching my DVD's that have all of the video footage taken during various missions, most people would probably find that stuff boring but I'm fascinated by it all. After watching some of the Apollo 15 footage I also looked up online some of the missions and came across some recent pictures of the landing sites that were taken by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter in 2009.

Most of them are low res pictures but are still pretty cool and tend to give proof that the landings werent' hoaxed.

The best of the pictures was the one of the Apollo 12 landing site in the Ocean of Storms. In it you can see the tracks that Pete Conrad and Al Bean made during their moon walks, you can see Intrepid's descent stage, the ALSEP (Apollo Lunar Surface Experimant Package) and even the Surveyor 3 probe that landed on the moon almost 3 years before Apollo 12.

It's really pretty cool to see all of this that's been there, unchanged since November 1969.

You can see all the other photos here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lunar_Reconnaissance_Orbiter The others are pretty low res though.

New York (CNN) -- Emmy-winning "Golden Girls" actress Rue McClanahan died of a stroke in a New York hospital early Thursday, her manager said. She was 76.

McClanahan, who suffered a cerebral hemorrhage last Monday, was surrounded by family when she died at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, according to manager Barbara Lawrence.

The actress' career began on the New York stage in the 1950s, but her long television career was first boosted when producer Norman Lear cast McClanahan in his hit CBS series "All in the Family" in 1971. She appeared in Lear's "Maude" a year later.

Her most memorable TV role was as Southern belle Blanche Devereaux on "The Golden Girls," which ran from 1985 through 1992. McClanahan won an Emmy for best lead actress in a comedy in 1987.

"Rue was a close and dear friend," White said Thursday. "I treasured our relationship. It hurts more than I even thought it would, if that's possible."

Estelle Getty passed away in 2008, and Bea Arthur died last year.

McClanahan requested that no funeral be held for her, but memorial services will be announced for later this summer in New York and Los Angeles, California, Lawrence said.

Fans can pay their respects online, a family statement said.

"Please join us in celebrating Rue's amazing life" by visiting a memorial page established for her on Facebook, the family said.

McClanahan's last comedic TV role was in an episode of Tyler Perry's "Meet the Browns," taped in 2009.

She carried the Devereaux character to three other TV series, including "The Golden Palace," "Empty Nest" and "Nurses."

She was married six times and had one child. Her son, Mark Bish, was born in 1958 during a brief first marriage.

Her present marriage to Morrow Wilson, starting in 1997, was her longest. Her book "My First Five Husbands ... And the Ones Who Got Away" was published in 2007.

McClanahan was born in Healdton, Oklahoma, on February 21, 1934, to parents with Scottish and native American heritage.

  7. My neighbor, Norm had me pick up an iPad for his daughter and before we ship it to her he wanted to see it in action.

I'm not overly impressed with it after playing around with it for a few hours. It's a "neat toy" but after a few minutes of holding it, it's 1.6 lbs starts to get heavy believe it or not.

If someone gave me one for free I'd take it but I wouldn't pay $500 or $600 for one.

  8. I wouldn't call him old, I actually never even thought about his age. I just think of him as a teen because I've only ever seen him as a child actor. In the video he mentioned a few other things that he's been on recently, I've never even heard of them. Other than TNG the only thing that I can think of that I've ever seen him in was Stand By Me.
