  1. Last night was the first time I had seen this episode as well. It was a lot of fun but at the same time it highlighted one of the things I never liked as much about Voyager. Voyager was simply too light hearted for me most of the time. It seems like half the shows were about them trying to find new ways to have a good time so that they wouldn't go crazy. I've always been a much bigger fan of the darker more serious side of Trek, which is why I liked DS9 so much.

don't get me wrong though, Captian Proton was pretty cool.

  2. I think I'm both an insomniac and a narcoleptic. Sometimes I'll go over 40 hours not being able to sleep at all and then other times even after a good nights rest I'll simply fall asleep in the middle of doing things. All things. I've fallen asleep driving, reading, talking, playing guitar, working, and even making out.

I've never been to a doctor however so as far as I know the only official sleeping disorder I have is startrekfans.net syndrom!

  3. The way the theatrical version ends with Picard walking down the hall as the music starts to build made me leave the theater saying STAR TREK 11 STAR TREK 11!!! If they had kept the alternate ending in I might have left thinking... hmmm I guess thats it for them eh? There was just something very short and sweet about the way the film ended that I really liked a lot.

  4. I heard he wore a prosthetic finger to some what mask it on the show, but I've been looking at my old tos dvd's and couldn't find any indication if he was or wasn't wearing one (they really do conceal it a lot.)

Ever since I started looking for it I've found that they do a great job of never showing his right hand. he's always standing with his hands behind his back or sometimes he'll have his left hand in the air and his right hand will be hidden by a table or another person.

  5. I voted no.  I didn't like the new first officer at all! Its weird having a new person as part of the crew, (with no riker!), and also makes it feels like tng is over even more!  I'm glad they didn't put it in.  I didn't really like any of the dealeted scenes that much, except for the one with data and picard.  that was good, although a little long.

The scene with Data and Picard was great. I also really liked the scene with Shinzon in the Romulan senate. I think it would have done a lot for the story, however I do agree with Stewert Braid that it would have taken away from Shinzons enterents later in the film. The second attack on Troi wasn't bad either but it really didn't serve any purpose.

  6. I think that this has been true for all of the shows to date. DS9 had so great shows in it's first two seasons but it was diffentatly season 3 when it took off. And I think this was even more dramaticly true for the Next Generation. Not that I didn't like them, but after season 3 of TNG the first two seasons seemed almost like a joke.

I have faith in my heart (get it!) that this next year of Enterprise is going to rule!

  7. Have you watched the alternate ending for Nemesis that's on the DVD? If so what were your thoughts on it. From what i can tell the reviews seem to be pretty mixed on if they should have left it in or not. I guess we'll leave it to the poll to decide!

I myself vote a solid NO! I thought that it was way to slow and long to have been a good ending. Also the whole scene just seemed akward and pushed to me. I thought the seat belt on the captians chair was a very cheap laugh and the new First Officer was so so at best. Anyway that's my opinion, what's yours!

  8. Well it's 12am Eastern and I hope all had a safe, fun Holiday. Today, we went to the World Famous San Diego Zoo, what did you do today?

I stayed up all night so that I could watch and tape the marathon because it occured to me the other day that I only had one episode of TOS on tape! I managed to stay up for the first 7 episodes and then I had to record the rest while I took a nap. After that I went to a Barba Chew (BBQ) that a freind was throwing.

  9. Has anyone else ever used a program called Trillian? I use it because it allows me to log into AIM, ICQ, Yahoo, and MSN all at the same time and with only 1 buddy list. However I haven't been able to log into the chat and I'm thinking that this is probably the problem. Has anyone else found a way around this? If not I guess I'm just going to have to download AIM again.

  10. I've known more then a few beautiful, intellegent, kind young girl whoes only fualt was that they were attracted to really aweful men. I think I speak for all of the smart attractive single men out there when I say "girls are wierd!"

.....well, most of them anyway :andorian:

  11. This doesn't surprise me much. I love Enterprise but I've never been a big fan of UPN. With the exception of Enterprise and Voyager the only great show they ever had was Nowhere Man and they canceled it after its first year. And to make it worse they canceled it during the summer while us few fans were waiting for part two of the clif hanging season finally!!!!! :theking::martok::andorian: I don't know if I'll ever been able to truely forgive them for that....

  12. In MASH, Radar has a withered hand, so they hide his hand too.

The scene in Tomorrow is Yesterday, where they are braking away from the sun and everyone is thrown, Scotty grabs onto that thing in front of the warp core (or what ever) maybe his hand could be seen there, but i never noticed.

I'm going to have to watch Tomorrow is Yesterday now. I watched the first 7 hours of the marathon (God I love days off!) but I fell asleep right as Tomorrow is Yesterday was starting. I taped it though so perhaps I will go watch it now!

  13. ive got a great one..

how about aboard the uss relativity...that jumps from point to point in time to stop the temporal cold war...meddling janeway... the 1701 and city on the edge of forever..etc etc...god knows theyve put enough groundwork on temporal paradoxes and temporal prime directives...

Kinda like The Quantam Leep Trek. :andorian:

Too bad they got Scott Bakula to play Cap'n Archer, he would have been perfect for the part!

  14. A few months ago I saw James Dohan at a convention and that's when I found out that he is missing a finger on his right hand. He said that he lost the finger on the beach at D-Day while he was in the Canadian Militery. Ever since I found this out I've been looking for his missing finger during the original series. If you take the time to look you will notice that the directors of TOS do an amazing job of never showing Scotty's right hand. Anyway I haven't gone through all 79 episodes and 6 movies yet looking for it but as of yet I haven't seen his right hand.

Tell me... have you seen Scotty's 4-fingered right hand?

  15. All of the best movies have also had some great bangs.

Star Trek II: The USS Relient blowing up from the Genisus torpedoe.

Star Trek III: The Enterprise A's self distruction.

Star Trek VI: The explosion of the Klingon Moon Praxis as well as the distruction of Chang's Bird of Prey (This movie had 2 great explosions which is why it could be considered one of the best movies).

Generations: The bird of Prey, the Enterprise D crashing, the shock wave.

    First Contact: The Borg cube.

Insurrection: The explosion of the collector.

Nemesis: The distruction of the schimitar.

  16. Things I think would be bad ideas for a new series and why....

A series based on a time ship: Every time there has been a show or movie with time travel then they manage to mess something up and a lot of people get mad. I don't even want to think of how many plot holes would exsist in a show based around time travel.

A series for each Enterprise: I wasn't a big fan of the Enterprise-B so I don't think a show based on it would be that interesting. The problem with a show based on the Enterprise-C is that we already know its fate. The show would be doomed from the start. Also we've already met it's captian and she has only grown older since then (and the same goes for Alan Ruck as the captian of the Enterprise-:andorian:

A series that takes place during Enterprise but on a different timeline: If they made a show that took place on a different time line then I think it would leave everyone who was a fan of Enterprise asking themselves "What was it I just watched?" As fans we've invested our time and interest into Enterprise and I think a series like this would only discredit it.

  17. I wouldn't say that they have any more in common then the Enterprise D did to the Enterprise A. They are both Federation Starships, so of course they are going to look a lot alike. I think the Enterprise-E is pretty cool but over all I wasn't a big fan of the way Voyager looked. It was neat how stream line it looked, but from some angles it just seemed really akward.

  18. Yes, tie up the loose ends with Reunification, they must. grin.gif

I would love to see a movie that picks up where Reunification left off. I really doubt Nimoy would do it but it would be awesome if he would. Perhaps if the script were good enough he would go for it.

  19. It's important to remember that the two situations are still different.  Iraq did not destroy the twin towers, and there is still a question as to how involved they were with Al Quida.  The Xindi did attack Earth, and they are planning on coming back and finishing the job.  We have a very clear cut enemy here (if future-guy can be believed).  There is no question as to whether humanity is acting out of self-defense.  So I don't see how either the possible Hollywood "agenda" or the current Administration's possible "agenda" can come into play.

Their situation is more like WWII than the current war with Iraq.  Which I believe is more a reflection of how we all feel.  Do we not wish that our current situation was more clear cut?  Do we not all long for proof that we are doing the right thing in the world?

I just watched the Nemesis DVD today, and in the special features they talk about the TNG crew being family, and how the events in the movie showed how families grow and change.  It acknowledged how important the theme of family was to Gene, and how RB is working to maintain that ideal.

I believe that The Expanse has at last solidified the Enterprise crew into a family.  There are no more divided loyalties.  They have a shared goal and a shared loyalty that centers on the man in comand.  They have a noble quest, if you will.  And they have the right man in charge.

Archer knows full well what is at stake; knows that the fate of Earth and even the galaxy rides on what he does.  He doesn't like the responsibilty, but he accepts it.  Yes, he tells Trip that they will do, "whatever it takes", but I don't believe that they will do the wrong thing, whatever that thing is, when the time comes.  After all, they didn't blow Duras out of existence the first chance they got, and they could have.  Maybe, they even should have.  Trip may be blinded by rage and grief right now, but Archer isn't.

It seems to me as if they are setting Trip up to be the protagonist for this arc.  That his struggle to grow beyond vengance, to become "a better man" as Picard says in Nemesis, will be a metaphor for the growth of humanity into what they are in Picard's time.  I don't believe that TPTB will let Trip deteriorate into a shallow, one dimensional character.  They've set things up to well for that.  I really think that they are getting ready to deal with some very serious questions, and I'm very much looking forward to it.

As for Trip,  he is a good man.  Through this struggle he will become that better man, and his family will help him do it.

You make a lot of great points. Very well put. I agree with you that this situration really isn't anything like the situation with Iraq. The only reason I brought it up in the first place was because they said in the press confrence that the story was going to mirror the after math of 9/11.

I also agree with what you said about the Enterprise crew finally starting to feel like a family, it's about time! Trip is a great character and I think that they are going to do some interesting things with him.

Season 3 is going to rock! :theking::andorian:
