  2. when I have to deliver, I use a Kia Rio, and it gets pretty good (like 33 MPG City), and that works for me. And it's only got a NINE GALLON gas tank. according to my buddy Joe over at 7-11, Gas is expected to go above 3.50 this summer, too. me thinketh that stinketh.

  3. May I quote the Shat? This comes from the "Celebrity" Video.

    "Crap"

"Crap. (I'm trying to say a bad word but can't). Caca."

    "I liked the end."

"No, you know, the end, where [it] stops, that part? Great."

  4. Some may question why now? But, I think Patriotism is a 24/7/365(or 366, if a Leap Year) thing, that should be felt not just on days like Veterans' Day, Memorial Day, and the 4th of July. So, in honor of Every day being a patriotic day, I made this. Feel free to download it, even add it into a sig if you wish, you have my blessing.

  5. Spacetravel is a dangerous venture, and as we press further, we will have further casualties, but the crews of Apollo 1, and the Starships Challenger and Columbia died in the name of advancing the knowledge of Humanity, and we remember them for thier sacrifices, for having the courage do go where few have gone before. They truely were ventuing into the unknown, and that friends, is always a dangerous thing to do.

  6. Okay, so I'm on my way home from 7/11 about ten minutes ago, and as I turn onto the street I live on, I notice something odd at one of the apartment buildings. There's a police officer with his dog out there. Okay, probably not a big deal. then I notice who he's talking to. Now, I don't know many Civilian PD's in the US who's normal duty gear includes Woodlands BDUs, Combat Body Armor, and MP5's. Yes, folks, I got a close up look at Zion's finest, the SWAT team. Looks like they chose a Drug bust to go off "At first light". Now, I knew ZPD had a SWAT team, and I've met a few of their number at the ZPD Open House, but this is a first. I've never seen the SWAT in action. Boy am I glad, though, that I wasn't the one staring down the business end of that group of guys. Anyone else ever had a "Close Encounter of the Heavily Armed kind"?

  7. My employees COULD work for $3.50 an hour, here in the US, but GM's or Ford's cannot. The reason? My employees get tips...But that's off topic. It's sad, but Ford really doesn't have cars to match vehicles like the Civic, and doesn't have Hybrids to match Toyota's Prius. Hell, they can't even match Kia's Rio! What Ford needs to do is they need to go back to the drawing boards. Keep the F-series trucks (always big sellers), but look at creating a small Sedan to match the Rio for Gas Mileage (And it wouldn't be hard to surpass it in terms of reliability), a small sport's car to match the Civic, and develope a Hybrid to counter the Prius. Build them here in the US, and assuming the price to manufacture each is the same as it would be for a Prius or a Civic or a Rio, you can undercut the price by $1,000 or more because you don't have to load it onto a ship and send it across, and it doesn't have to clear customs, and what-not.

  8. Six NFL Coaches are no longer employed by the teams they coached.

    Mike Tice-Fired from Vikings yesterday

Mike Sherman-Relieved of Duties by Packers

    Mike Martz-Fired from St. Louis

    Jim Haslett-Fired from New Orleans

    Dom Capers-Fired from Texans

Richard Vermiel-Retired fromk football, was Head Coach of the K.C. Chiefs

How many more will follow? It's pretty obvious that Richard Jauron won't be the Head Coach in Detroit, but will he stay there?

The Ravens have indicated that Brian Billick's job is secure.

How about new coaches? Capers could go to Minnesota. The Wilfs want a hard-*buttocks*, and Capers is. Talk is that Sherman could go to K.C. Mooch may well find himself in Green Bay again, but I don't know that he'll go as H.C., but as the Offensive Coordinator, with Jim Bates possibly getting the Head Coaching Job. Mike Martz has struggled with health problems and will probably retire. Tice could go to Houston. Sounded like a joke at the beginning of this season, but hey.

  9. Okay, just so I'm clear, you're customers would be aware of the price increase before delivery?

I'm just thinking that if you spring this on someone at the door, they could refuse delivery (I assume they can, I don't order pizza to be delivered often) and that would just compound the problem. You'll be out money (for both undelivered pizza and double mileage) and then your drivers will have to make two trips in the bad weather.

I've been trying to write the Phone Script for tomorrow (If I need to, I can call in a few insiders, and some of my drivers can take orders.) It looks something like this...

    Intro:

"Thank you for Choosing Domino's Pizza, where we love our Customers. This is (Team Member Name), how may I help you today?....Will this be for Carryout or Delivery?"

    If Delivery:

"And Because of today's weather, we are adding an extra dollar fifty to the Delivery Charge today..." If needed, explain why.

    Take order

    Confirm order:

"Okay, and just to confirm your order....(Repeat order back to customer)"

    Special promo:

"And would you like to add $1 to your order today to benefit the kids at St. Jude?"

    Close the deal.

"Okay, thank you very much sir/ma'am, your total comes to $XX.XX after Tax and Delivery Charge, and we'll see you in X Minutes"

I'm also going to tell my drivers not to worry about speed. Drive at a safe speed given road conditions. If that means 15 or 20 miles per hour, then drive 15 or 20. My biggest concern in bad weather like we're expecting isn't that the pizzas get there in a certain time (Our Heatwave bags can keep a Pizza at 170 degrees for 2 hours. I know because I have tested that myself), but the safety of the Team Members. I want every driver that shows up for work tomorrow to leave work tomorrow in the same condition in which they arrived. Granted they'll probably be a bit colder than when they arrived, but...You get the idea. I'm also going to tell my CSR's that if anyone has a question or issue with the Delivery Charge or Delivery times that I will answer them personally. I'm hoping we don't get real busy, but sometimes hoping isn't enough.

  10. Okay, tomorrow is going to suck at work. I have officially been given the GM reins at work, and figures, my first week as GM is the last week of school. No biggy, just alot of timed orders for school parties. But, We are predicted to get heavy snow tomorrow in my area, mixed with rain at times. I told all my drivers, if we get busy, I'm calling everyone in. Naturally, this was met with some grumbling. One driver, though, had the cajones to say what noone else would.

"Hey, boss, If it's as bad as they're saying, why are we even going to risk delivering?"

I told him that I would constantly check with the drivers, to insure I knew the road conditions. First sign that it was getting too dangerous, I will discontinue deliveries. If the roads are bad, but not so bad as to warrant pulling the drivers off the road, though, I will make sure they get extra mileage (Drivers already get Mileage and a half if they come in unscheduled) I told them if it is real bad, They'll get double mileage. This means, though, I have to double the delivery charge. The Drivers seem happy about that, since tips around here suck in good weather, and go down hill along with the road conditions. So, my customers may be unhappy that instead of a 1.50 delivery charge they are shelling out 3.00, but if they really want their pizza, they can either pay up, or come and get it.

Does this sound like a reasonable thing to the rest of you?

  11. Well, having something like Starfighters would be a major strategic advantage. Their speed and service ceiling would make them virtually impervious to all present and many developing Surface-to-Air weapons' systems. Also, if they can reach orbit and fight there, they would probably set range records. A Starfighter squadron could take off from, say, Eglin Air Force Base and make a "Self Escorted" bombing run over Pyongyang, leave at 0900 Local, and be back in time for lunch. There are advantages to having the technology...
