  1. I am drinking a bottle of "BULLIT"...a mix of RedBull and Vodka ;) while i play Need For Speed Carbon on my X360

    :cops: :cops:

Scuse me, sir, I need to see your license, registration, and proof of insurance...

Sorry, never really get to say that...

Just finished a Sam Adams Boston Lager.

  2. I'm single and will probably go in the book of world records. The reason being that I'm almost 24 years old and I've never had a girlfriend, ever. Even my 17 year old brother has a girlfriend. So everyone who has ever had a boyfriend/girlfriend or is married or has been, you don't know how lucky you really are! It's sometimes a lonely life at my age to have never had a girlfriend. But, I'm living with it and happy. But, hope things change in the future

Hey Gamera, I'm 21 and I've only ever dated 2 girls.

*looks down at hand* But, I don't need to date any longer. *flashes the Matramonial(sp?) Bling*

  3. good point. How many extra meters/kilometers of power conduits would it take to add a second forward torpedo tube to a Galaxy, or to add more phaser arrays, the like. I mean, we can design a warship NOW on the computer over a period of several months. I imagine with the technology in the 24th Century, they could do it in alot less time, and be able to accurately prototype it better than we can now. It took about 8 months to build the LCS, which is about 350 feet long. with 24th Century construction techniques, and during a wartime situation, you could probably build a "small" starship, say Intrepid class, in a short time.

  4. I was recently watching several Dominion War episodes, featuring battles. What amazed me is how quickly the Galaxy class went from being an explorer to what amounts to a Battleship. I never really considered the Galaxy class to be a truely powerful warship (I think Voyager outgunned it), but watching the Dominion War episodes, those things suddenly became a whole lot more deadly. but, I have to wonder, would the Federation, faced with impending invasion, have began building purpose-built battleships? I've always kind of assumed they did. DS9 Tech Manual says Galaxy class starships under construction were launched with bare-bones internal gear, and had added weapons.

So, here's my question. You are the Chief of Tactical Operations for the Federation. Do you commission a design for a purpose-built battleship to counter the Dominion threat? Or do you refit present classes?

My answer is yes. The Dominion's "Heavy Cruisers" look to be the equal of a Galaxy in size, and appear to outgun it. And then there's the Dominion Battleships, which are just outrageously huge and powerful. I would have ordered a ship built that had the power to at least some equality. the Soveriegn Class is a good starting point, and is easily expanded. I'd probably lengthen the design, widen it, and add more weapons. Now, granted, this isn't exactly a new idea. the USS Iowa in the American Navy was an expansion and upgrade on a previous class of warship. And several Cruiser designs were similar to that family of warships. Look at a picture of USS St. Paul, and you'll see a remarkable similarity to the Iowa class...But, I would have probably commissioned several different purpose-built warships. The Light Cruiser job was already filled by the Akiras, and the Corvette/Light Frigate roll was easily filled by Defiant. But, that still leaves a light warship between the Akira and the Defiant, and a Cruiser and Heavy Cruiser design, plus a battleship.

    What say you?

  5. I liked the DS9 Finale, I thought it was pretty durned good. You really got a sense of the cost of the war. You also saw that in the end, dispite two and a half years of bloody warfare, the Federation still respects the dignity of all people, regardless of the fact that these people spent the better part of the war fighting very hard against them. The scene where Sisko and Ross refuse to drink over the bodies of dead Cardassians showed what the Federation was all about. We may have conquered you, but we'll still show you the dignity you deserve. I have to wonder, though, what Garak's place in the new Cardassia would be. in the Sim I am in, we've shown Garak several times being the Leader of the new Cardassian Union. I was definately satisfied to an extent, but I still kinda want more.

  6. Time to pick a part that uniform! :P That is a chief's cover unless I am mistaken your brother is an officer! He now out ranks the CNO (Chief of Naval Operations). The belt! WTF! That is not standard issue belt. The only thing I can say in positive light is good gig line! One more thing before I forget, where is the white t-shirt! The shirt does need some ironing. :frusty: One more other thing before I forget, your brother needs a hair cut. Way too long!

It's a halloween costume...I'd be willing to bet that if he ever finds five stars on his uniform, he'll surely be in full uniform. But, the reason Odie was so easily able to pick it apart is this: It would be illegal for Jim to be "In uniform" while wearing the 5-star insignia. Impersonating a senior officer. Now, your average Civilian, who can barely recognise MODERN military uniforms, wouldn't notice the obvious differences in Jim's "MacArthur", and might assume it's a genuine uniform, or at least a decent faxsimile.

  7. One photo says it all.

Green Bay is gaining momentum. Yes, they have beaten two crappy teams back to back, but this is a team that is building momentum and gaining confidence. Green Bay posted TWO hundred plus yard rushers today for the first time since 1985. And, Brett Favre is having FUN. He's also quietly having a good year. People were expecting another 29 INT season. Right now, he has twice as many TD passes as Interceptions. Green Bay's offensive line is gelling, turning into a unit that can actually protect Brett Favre, and open holes for the running game. My advice to any team playing the Packers: Don't overlook the green and gold. Don't let your gaurd down. They will find a way to beat you.

  8. It's an election year. One of the hot topics during an election year always seems to be the Minimum Wage. Federal Minimum is at present, $5.15 cents for eligable Non-Exempt employees[1] Many states also have their own minimum wage laws, in almost every case it is higher than the Federal Minimum wage (Can't be lower. The Federal Minimum wage is the bottom line, so to speak.) Some exemptions include, but aren't limited to, Waiters, Pizza delivery personnel, and yes, strippers. Now, how many people are actually effected by the Minimum wage? According to the US Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistic, the nationwide percentage of workers 16 YOA or over being paid at or below the Federal Minimum Wage is 2.5% of workers. This does include exempted employeess, examples mentioned above. Most of those workers are single students working in places like McDonalds or Domino's Pizza, and are generally working for extra money (Either persons still living at home, trying to earn their own money and some independance from parents, or those with a second job for extra income.). The interesting thing about one of the big campaign promises (Minimum wage increase) is that the percentage of increase in minimum wage is usually equal to the percentage of increase in the unemployment rate among people who earn minimum wage. One reason for that is most employers paying minimum wage are businesses, like McDonalds and Domino's, who also have to watch their labor percentage. Another is that the majority of businesses paying Minimum wage aren't big corporate monsters like McDonalds and Domino's (The industry leaders in their respective markets.) most are small businesses, owned by the guy next door. And if Domino's can't afford to be paying everyone $7.50, then do you think Pete's Pizza down the street can? Actually, it might be enough to drive him into the ground. Especially if he has a place like Domino's or Pizza Hutt nearby (and even more so if the manager of the big-name is perticularly agressive.)

So, that's what a minimum wage increase REALLY looks like.

  9. Okay, so the Fearless gets categorised as a fabulous flop. However, I do have another adventure I want to give a try. I already have several members active for this one, so it is a bit more lively than the Fearless.

    1st Battalion, 7th Marines Sim

    A Starfleet Marine Corps Sim.

Alphla Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Marines has just been tapped as the Quick Reaction Force for the Battalion. We'll be doing all the wildest and craziest things you can think of. Fast-roping from a runabout at 20 meters, parachuting from a shuttlecraft at high-altitude, boarding ships and taking them over, fighting conventional forces in the field, and taking on "low-intensity" conflicts. Who knows what we may face, but it will be an adventure to say the least. Check out the sim, contact me for available possitions.
