Star Trek need's diversity in it's truest form.

 

IDIC - Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations

 

Some people want to see Arrabians in Star Trek.  Some wish to see homosexuals, others religous people, I myself would like to see a Christian, and so forth.

 

Now, I've noticed that people agree that there should be great diversity extending to having homosexual characters.

 

Once I suggested that there be a religous character, a debate began.  Some people said it was silly to believe in something that doesn't exist, others said religion leads to war, some say they don't care, some wish to see it, and so forth...

 

My question is this: By wanting true diversity to the extent of having homosexuals and then saying their shouldn't be religous people in the future becuase we would evolve past the need to believe in God a bit hypocritical?  Plus, they are saying that God doesn't exist.  Who on Earth are they to say God doesn't exist when they have no way to prove it?

 

Anywho, I would like to discuss diversity in general and in all forms with you fellow fans!

 

However, I would ask the mod to close this thread in the event of a heated debate for 1 day so those going at each other's throats can calm down.  I ask this, becuase it happened in another thread, and quite frankly, I think it's a good idea.

I stand guilty as one, if not the only one of the people who over reacted on the other thread i did try to go back into it to apologise for my error but the thread had been closed so i PM'D TM and my apology was graciously accepted.If i upset anyone else with my unwarranted rant i apologise.

That was called Shades of Gray and was the last episode of season 2.  I found that episode scary too but for different reasons - it was definitely one of the worst episodes of the series but I hate clip shows.  I think the writers' strike had something to do with it being done.

You're right. "Shades of Grey" was a terrible ep. It was one massive cost cutting exercise and it showed.

I guess it was when I started naming my pets after ST characters.

No your not, my sis has a dog called Leeta, she has a new puppy but her partner wouldn't let her call it seven(spoilsport] so she called it Molly after chief o'brien's daughter instead

Yeah, but the question about the clothes had bugged me. I know they can replicate thier clothes, but if you got this dress at DS9 from Garek, you don't want to jsut have the replicator unit "reclaim it" after you wear it. So there has to be some sort of cleaning unit in there somewhere.

They talk about laundry in the TNG episode "In Theory". Keiko was telling the story about O'Brien always leaving his socks on the floor and she finally put them in the cleaning unit when the pile was up to her knees or something like that.

 

I've always wondered what happened with dishes. None of the crew quarters we saw seemed to have any area for to store dishes and cutlery and everytime they replicated food it came on a dish. What happened to them. Did they get thrown into some time of matter recycler.

In the DS9 ep where the cardassian orphan is staying with o'brien and keiko she picked up the dirty dishes and put them in the replicator tray so i suppose it would de-materialise them or something

A Klingon based pilot, Andorians, Tribbles, Borg. All very very 'Trek'. I know it's the Star Trek universe etc but do you think Enterprise is relying too heavily on established Trek stuff and has too many ties with the previous series?

I think it has a nice familiarity about it with the Klingons, Vulcans etc.. but i understand what you're saying and would like to see some new species that we have never heard of before. Maybe with the story that is due to start at the end of S 2 we may get some .

I was at home and my sister rang and told me to switch to sky news. I saw the second plane hit and couldn't believe what i was seeing, i was numb. The worst was watching people jumping from the buildings, that scene will haunt me for the rest of my days

I voted DS9. I went to a fireworks display where they played it whilst letting off the fireworks. It was awesome, and gave me a whole new appreciation for the music.

So true but as much as i will miss TNG i really would love a DS9 movie
