  1. Found this question on another board, and the poster was vabeachguy 33. Could this be our vabeachguy ?

Anyway, he basically wanted to know what people thought of the character, and as i think it is a good discussion topic i would like to know what you all thought of her.

Evil person who is the ultimate corruptor of religion to gain and keep power is my opinion.

  3. Sorry i haven't checked out this board for a while, and there are so many of you it would take forever to welcome you individually ( sorry). Anyway.....welcome to the boards one and all, hope you enjoy it. I'm sure you will as they are all a very amiable bunch. :)

  4. If you want we could have Deanna and Riker's child on the ship.  I don't have any ideas truly set in stone.  If anyone here has ideas or suggestions feel free to tell me!

"Along time ago, in a Galaxy far far away..............." lol

Ummm........I say we don't use any exsisting ship, but that create our own, we could have Riker or someone be the captain, and create our own characters. If we do that then were not constrained by anything currently going on, and this can go on till we kill it. just thinking :)

What about having Reg Barclay as Captain, the guy deserves a break. LOL

    Can you imagine it....

    :)

  5. Can Riker and Deanna FINALLY have children!!! Please!!.. lol

    -Laur :)

As long as this one stay's around a bit and doesn't end up being older than it's parents in the blink of an eye. Hey " in the blink of an eye"... that could be the title for a story. :)

  6. Hi all

I live in a place called Bradford, in the north of England. ( Am i the only English person on this site.) I am 38 and married with 3 children. I used to watch TOS now and again in re runs but really became a fan with TNG. I tell everyone i love ST, and believe me i get a lot of stick for it but i don't care. My friends just don't understand, but luckily my brother and sister are as nuts about ST as i am. so I can "talk trek " to my hearts content with them.

My favourite series are TNG & DS9. I really didn't " get" Voyager, though i really liked some of the characters, and i am really enjoying Ent.

  7. :)

Not that I trust Howard Stern further than I could heave Jupiter, but that blathering fool was dithering about "Enterprise" possibly being cancelled this morning.

Can't find anything about it on any of my usual reliable sources, has anyone else heard this?

Don't know if I would keep watching network television if it were to be cancelled.

    That's all it will be...a rumour. :)

  9. From Guiness' homepage sign if you think this day deserves to be a national holiday in the US to cellabrate irish heritage not only in Ireland. It's not just for irish people it's for everybody, it's a day of pure fun. Notes: you do have to be of legal drinking age  to sign it, and you do have to register with the site, buts that easy, and very sucure. It's only for US residents, sorry, And yes this is for real.

"St. Patrick's Day is coming. A day to celebrate Irish heritage and the legendary patron saint. A day to spend time with friends and a great excuse to party. Your friends at Guinness® believe that a day like this deserves some recognition. Official recognition. That's why we are leading a movement to make St. Patrick's Day a national holiday. We want you to help. Sign the petition, and pass it along to your friends! "

"For over 150 years the Irish have honored St. Patrick with a celebration on March 17. Today, the celebration encompasses not only St. Patrick’s heritage, but it’s an out-and-out excuse for anyone Irish, anyone who knows someone Irish, or anyone wearing green, for that matter, to come together and…well, simply enjoy a good time with close friends. That’s why we've created a petition to make St. Patrick’s Day a national holiday.

Join the movement by signing the petition and passing it along to your friends. Then watch as we march on Capitol Hill to let them know that we want to make St. Patrick’s Day a national holiday!

Plus, when you sign the petition, your name will automatically be entered in the Guinness® St. Patrick’s Day Sweepstakes where you could win a Keg-O-Rator."

    Thanks,

    poguemahone

Poguemahone, does your username incorporate your surname as it is similar to mine? My surname is McMahon. My hubbies family are from Ballyfermot in Dublin, where are yours descended from?

  10. My Friend asked me about 2 months ago to sign that petition.. i have no idea why any one would want a national holiday from a culture. Like ok i'm a tiny bit irish *i'm a half breed of alot of things* and the only reasoning my friends could give me for st.patricks day being a holiday is so they get a school day off..

    what are all of yours?

    -Laur :)

I am very lucky to have in-laws who are irish( My surname is McMahon) so i understand fully the meaning of "Paddy's day". It is to meet up with family and friends, sing songs and get absolutely plastered, which i did with relish !!!!

  11. Realizing that other people's kids are incredibly boring, I still have to brag about the world's newest Trek fan:  Erika Catherine, my niece, was born Wednesday March 12 at 0937 in suburban Chicago.  She was 8 lbs, 14.6 oz, 19.5 inches long and looks exactly like my late paternal grandmother, her great-grandmother.

If anyone wants to see a picture of her and her mom & dad (both big Trek fans), take a look at the "Collage" page at our website:

    Our Portal

    :)  :)  :)  :)  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D

    Congratulations !!

  12. We already actually have the approval of the UN security council, the current resolutions give the U.S. authorization to take military action. I believe it was just a political move to try to get another resolution passed, a new one wasn't and isn't needed.

True. Like i said on the other topic regarding the war, i would have preferred the backing of the UN, but what are you supposed to do when you have the french, russians etc... who won't allow you to get it. 1441 makes it a legal war. As for SADMAN, he only shows his megalomania and utter contempt for his own people by refusing to leave Iraq and avert conflict, therefore any Iraqi civilian casualties will be his fault........ oh and have you heard the latest!!....the French would be prepared to allay themselves with us and the americans in the war if SADMAN uses chemical weapons ??????? I say get lost,we don't need or want your HELP.

  13. Here is what i found...

"For over 30 years, the creative mind of Gene Roddenberry has touched the lives of millions with his stories of human endeavor and achievement. His works and ideals have been integrated into numerous cultures worldwide, offering each a sense of hope for humanity as it enters the new millennium. Please join us in exploring his legacy to the world!"

    and

"In 1964, every concept Gene Roddenberry had ever explored in his scripts, all his previous experiences, all his beliefs, came together in a single idea: "Wagon Train to the Stars." That one phrase summed up the concept for a television series he briefly expressed in a sixteen-page outline. The series shattered inter-racial boundaries and boldly prophesied a future that is, in many ways now, a reality. It's penetrating exploration of human emotions and issues in an alien environment seized the imaginations of generation after generation. Roddenberry's series thrust science fiction from a genre backwater into a major cultural phenomenon as phrases like "warp speed," and "beam me aboard," were embedded in the public jargon.

He called this new series, "Star Trek".

What do you all think of Roddenberrys outcome of his 'Dream'??

*i hope that Roddenberrys Memory and Dreams 'Live Long and Prosper'*

    -Laur :)

I wish Rick Berman held G R's dream in as high a regard as you do, then i wouldn't be so worried for ST.

  14. The debate is now over. Right or wrong we are going in!! Whatever your stance on the subject you must see that war was inevitable. Force is the only thing the butcher of Baghdad understands, unfortunately. He has been given a chance, even now, to avert conflict by leaving Iraq, and has refused in arrogance and contempt for his own people. Any Iraqi civilian casualties are therefore his fault, and his alone.

I have always been against going in without UN backing, but what are you supposed to do when there is no way the French,Ruskies etc... will allow you to gain UN support? Try another 12 years of appeasement in the name of peace? I DON'T THINK SO !!

Credit where credit is due .We have followed the UN path for the last 7 or 8 months, so you can't say we didn't try.

And once the conflict is over and Iraq is in control of it's own oil fields (providing SADMAN doesn't set fire to them) it will at last prove that this conflict WAS NEVER ABOUT OIL !!!

  15. Yes, trekbabe, we should try to go in with U.N. support.  The only problem is that the U.N. wants to delay the war too much.  The War can't be delayed more than another week or so.  If not, then it will start to get very hot over in Iraq, which is pretty much a big desert.  And, with bio and chem protection suits, the troops can't fight in the summer in the desert.  They would have to wait until next year, when the situation is much worse.

Good point. I never thought of that. :D
