  1. The point being made is not that the numbers don't go up.The point is that the registry numbers are not sequential. You are just as likely to find an Oberth-class starship with a registry like NCC-52***,as you are to find a Nebula-class ship,or a Miranda-class ship. The numbers are all over the place.Go ahead, look in whatever books or files you want.

  2. Life is a no-win situation.

That's a terrible attitude to have!

Life's a ball!I've had fun.Sure, sometimes things are bad.But the good times more than make up for them. When I've had a bad stretch and am depressed, all I have to do is get on the phone and talk to my little girl,or go through my shoebox full of photos.Picks my spirit right up!

As for the "No Win Scenario",I don't believe in it.Never have.Eternal optomist that I am.

  3. Well,I would visit more often, but the Vulcan embassy is so dang hot and stuffy inside, plus the food is too bland. As if that weren't bad enough, the Vulcans don't appreciate my humor  .See if I come here anymore!

  4. I voted for Chekov. He never brought much to the table as a main cast character of TOS.And all of his Mother Russia crap was annoying. He was the Enterprise's personal communist party chairman.

How could Naomi Wildman be on this list? That's just wrong.

  5. As a youngster I always wanted to be a skeleton.I dressed as Mr.Bones every single year from the age of 5 or 6,until my last Halloween at 13.My momma made my costumes. For one thing, she was excellent at making clothes and costumes, and for another we were so poor most of the time,I doubt we could have afforded a store-bought Halloween costume. What was so great is,my costume was usually better looking than my friends',Ha!

  6. I doubt the Dominion suffered over much for their defeat in the alpha quadrant.Remember,a large portion of their military never made it through the wormhole, and the vast majority of Founders and Vorta remained in place in the gamma quadrant.Despite the losses the Dominion suffered in the alpha quadrant, not much changed for them "back home",where they are still a major power. Also, the Jem'Hadar have been conditioned for many, many years to regard the Founders with an almost holy reverence. All of that won't change dramatically just because of events in the alpha quadrant.

So,IMO,the Dominion is still a major power. And it wouldn't be too smart for Federation ships to start accessing the wormhole to go on little "day trips" to the far side of the galaxy,as the Jem'Hadar would almost certainly still attack them in Dominion space.

    Agreed.

Its a scary thought, realizing that the Dominion almost won the war in the alpha quadrant with a much diminished force (thanks to the Bajoran Prophets, shutting down the wormhole and stranding the biggest part of the invasion force back in the gamma quadrant).

You also have a point about the Jem'Hadar. While we did see the rogue trooper(s) pop up ever so often during DS9,they represented only an infinitismally small fraction of the Jem'Hadar. The majority of whom are more than fanatically loyal to the Founders.

The alpha quadrant war did not hurt the Dominion's gamma quadrant infrastructure,or the Dominions military assets "back home",as first redneck in space put it.I'd also agree with his assessment that it would be folly for any Federation starships (or any other alpha quadrant ships,in my opinion) to return to their pre-war forays into the gamma quadrant.

Having successfully prevented the Dominion's conquest of the alpha quadrant, the Starfleet may be better served by simply allowing sleeping dogs to lay,and focusing on uncharted territories closer to home,or better yet, focus on repairing the massive ammounts of damage the war caused.

  7. Perhaps, Barclay was referring to the league on Cestus III. You know, the one with the Pike City Pioneers and Cestus Comets.

That's what i think he was referring to.Earth may still have no organized professional baseball in 2380-whatever they are up to now (I'm a bad trekkie...I don't know what year it is! :klingon: ).

  8. The only games I disagree with VBG on are Detroit Vs. Chicago (I think the Bears have one win left this season, and this is it),also Cleveland Vs. New England (I think the Browns will pull off an upset),and finally Carolina Vs. New Orleans (Aaron Brooks has been hot as of late and should smoke the Panthers D).

  9. :klingon: I am a fan of the Ferengi energy whip. Its not an elegant or a practical weapon, but it is unique in the Star Trek universe.I was a little bit upset when standardized energy pistols/blasters replaced the whips post-TNG.What do you think?I think the Ferengi should keep the whip in most instances, but carry a palm gun or something for situations when the whip is impractical.

  10. Yep, a Ferengi Marauder is almost as powerfull as a Galaxy class starship. And I agree we didn't see enough of them. Given their strength and numbers I can't see why they weren't involved in some of the conflict seen in DS9. For profit of course.

Unless the Dominion directly threatened Ferengi commerce, there was no reason for Grand Nagus Zek to commit Ferengi forces to war.It would not have been profitable, afterall. Also,in the aftermath of the war, while the warring powers were weakened from the conflict, the Ferengi Alliance would retain much of its power and influence, increasing its stature in the quadrant and at negotiations tables.
