  1. Professional wrestling only 1 notch above pitbull fighting?

As an old time fan of wrestling,I must protest. The demographic for this poll had to be senior citizens and the anti-pro wrestling crowd.I'll admit the spectacle is not what it used to be,thanks largely to the Larry Flynt-approach of Vince McMahon Jr to the storylines and writing, but there's no way it is that close to being the most hated sport.

    I agree.

Professional wrestling is great! Its soap opera for men

And while it may not be a legitimate "sport",there are no better conditioned athletes,or "entertainers" in any sport elsewhere.Professional wrestlers are men and women who must perform 300 or more days a year(no off season,no unions),must live on the road, and increasingly must maintain superior standards of physical fitness. It is such a harsh life that over the past several years more and more wrestlers are dying. Many of them as a result of drug addiction to pain killers,as their lifestyle takes an incredible toll on their bodies. Those wrestling rings are not soft. That's a solid wood surface on springs that they are slamming down onto. And ask any stuntman, diving or being pushed off of a 30-foot height (from a cage)is going to hurt,no matter how you prepare yourself for the impact.I could make a lengthy list of big, tough NFL stars who tried pro wrestling and went home crying about how difficult it was.

Its a crying shame Vince McMahon Jr is putting out such shoddy product, when he has so many tremendously talented individuals in his organization (World Wrestling Entertainment...formerly the WWF).I guess today, sex is all that sells.Heck, even Star Trek is trying it!

  2. Yeah, but you need a crew for that size of a ship.  What about a ship where you wouldn't need a crew?  If you like the Klingon Bird of Prey, perhaps you'd be interrested in the Federation Scout Ship?

Didn't you say we could pick any vessel that we could either operate alone or operate with the aide of a small crew?My pick would also be a B'rel class ship.

  3. I saw a transvestite comedian name of Eddy Izzard on an HBO comedy special a few months back.He was funny as hell.I liked him a lot. He's from England I think. When I first tuned in I was like,"Oh,Lord, what is this?"But by the end of his show I had become a converted fan. :dude:

Can't say as I know the fella your talking about.Only Black i know as a comedian is Jack Black.I haven't decided if i think he's funny or not, yet.

  4. I just got my most recent copy of the Bud K catalog, and that got me to wondering whether or not anyone else here collects midevel weaponry?I've collected for years and have a large assortment of swords, battle axes, war hammers, maces, daggers, and assorted odds and ends. Its a surprisingly affordable hobbie, and its fun.I don't think I've ever paid more than $120 dollars for any one piece, and most are priced well under a hundred dollars.

Bud K also sells American civil War replica items (swords, caps, guns mounted on plaques, etc),feudal japanese weapons, ancient arabian weapons, and a whole lot else.I also collected a few of the replica nazi items (Hitler Youth knife, replica Luger, ceremonial dress SS sword),simply because these weapons were so finely crafted. But this offends some folks,so I don't often show them and almost didn't tell about this items in this post. But were all open minded here, for the most part, and I think yall understand that I collected them because they struck my eye and not because I am a Nazi.

I also buy a lot of the t-shirts off Bud K,but I'm getting off my original subject.Midevel weaponry.Who has a collection, and what pieces are you most proud of?here's a link to the Bud K website

  5. I know some old boys up in Lowgap that make their own popskull and bring me a little every now and again.Besides that,I drink beer (whatever's cheapest, and palatable),and once in a blue moon I'll step into a bar and have a shot of something.Hell, admiralpeewee's daddy makes some pretty good hooch of his own, too.

  6. Is it just me,or do the children in the Star Trek universe seem very mean-spirited for youngsters from an "evolved" society?

During Spock's childhood he was tormented relentlessly by so-called "logical" Vulcan children. His human heritage was insulted. His human traits declared weaknesses.

During Belanna Torres' youth, she was ostracized (even by children related to her),and she continued to be haunted by memories of her ordeals well into adulthood.

I could cite more examples, but i think you get where I'm getting at with this.

Why are the children of "a better class" of civilized parents on all Federation planets, such little sh*ts?Could it be that the UFP's very liberal lifestyles and parenting styles (as counseled to Worf by Deanna Troi, concerning Alexander),aren't working?I know that the Federation's laid back "hey, make love not war! We're scientists, not soldiers!" baloney almost cost them the Dominion War,and it was shown on DS9 that the people of Risa and Federation citizens in general wen't all to pieces when something as minor as a weather control system went down.Hopefully, they've learned some things....and I see,I've been rambling.Sorry.

    I await your answers.
