  1. I think that today's young people have become spoiled to always having cartoons and kiddie shows on (thanks to cable).Boy,it sure wasn't like that for us old farts!Saturday and holidays we're pretty much it,for cartoons and such.

I remember the live-action Sid and Marty Krofft produced shows like Sigmund the SeaMonster, and Land of The Lost.I remember the Bugaloos, and H.R.Puff'n'stuff.I watched all the hideous 70's Scooby-Doo ripoff's (which,I liked).Of course,I recall the animated Star Trek fondly. There was Dudley Do Right, that Godzilla cartoon with the winged baby Godzilla.I could go on and on.These shows were great.

Heck,I remember having to wait all year to watch the Wizard of Oz,as it only came on television the week of Thanksgiving here in Arkansas!Same with Willy Wonka. That gem usually came on around spring...

Where in God's name did the time go? B)

  2. This question has bugged me for many years now, though I have never asked any other fans for their opinions before. In the first episode of The Next Generation,Commander Riker and virtually everybody else seems astounded and amazed by the holodeck. The novelization of "Encounter at Farpoint" makes it clear that holodecks are a new invention.Yet,on Voyager Janeway claims that she "grew" up with the holodeck adventures of Flotter.

What gives?Did the writers overlook something? Is Encounter at Farpoint right or wrong? Is Janeway lying? Will the Chicago Bears die of humiliation before the end of the season? The world wonders!

Have any thoughts on this holodeck problem?

  3. Who wouldn't want to live in the TOS era?I would. For all of the reasons everybody else on this thread has for choosing TOS.I wouldn't necessarily mind living in other Trek-era's,but TOS is my favorite.Mostly because I think the women from TOS were a lot classier and sexier than those of the other era's.Also, the Starfleet uniforms were awesome (and, naturally,I would be an officer!).

  4. I loved old "Bones" McCoy.The only sane, rational man aboard the original Enterprise (Oops,I should say the original Constitution-class Ent).DeForest Kelly was a brilliant actor, and he played the hell out of this character, making the Enterprise's resident simple country doctor one of the greatest science-fiction icons of all time.

  5. Here are my picks...

    Star Trek:Yeoman Smith,Janice Rand,Marta

    Star Trek-The Next Generation:Ishara Yar,Deanna Troi,Sonya Gomez

    Star Trek-Deep Space Nine:Kira Nerys,Jadzia Dax,Lieutenant Watley

    Star Trek-Voyager:Seven of Nine,Seska(as Bajoran),Kes

    Enterprise:Hoshi Sato

    Ultimate Trek Babe:Seven of Nine

  6. Black coffee (Folger's),strong enough to wake the dead and shift the alignment of the planets.I drink so much of the stuff,i think I single-handedly keep Folger's in business.Never got into those fancy coffees from places like Starbucks...they all taste like liquid candy to me.Yeck! :tear:

  7. I love Tron.Superior storyline, awesome special effects for its day,and it's a Walt Disney motion picture...which means I can watch this comfortably with my daughter when she visits, without worrying about loads of graphic violence, sex, and cursing every other moment of dialog. Now,I ain't saying the Matrix has these faults, since I haven't watched more than half of the first Matrix (the last 45-minutes or so),and have never seen the second matrix movie.I also liked David Warner as the Villain. He is a great actor.

  8. I've got no problem with wheeled vehicles in Trek. They would have needed some wheeled and treaded vehicles during the Dominion War,or so it seems to me.You can't very well hold a planet or ground positions with ships alone. And it makes more sense to augment your ground forces with heavy armor and military vehicles.

  9. I love Beavis and Butthead and have every last episode taped, including the movie.I watch some of the episodes every single day.I'm still hoping that they'll catch on again and make a comeback.I love those two kids!I use Beavis as my user name at a majority of the sites I've ever posted at.When i can have an avatar of my own choosing,I use him, too.Probably because we're both blondes...or at least,i used to be before mother nature decided she wanted her hair back....

  10. Normally I don't pay much attention to big storms.I've lived through the worst of them, but I'm starting to get a little worried about Isabel.I don't think she'll come near to Arkansas, where I am,but for all of y'all along the eastern seaboard..well,i hope you're aware of how potentially dangerous this storm is shaping up to be and have thought about taking the appropriate precautions.I heard one weatherman claim that Isabel will be the biggest hurricane in decades and guess'timated that she'll do an ungodly ammount of damage when she comes on shore (but I know how weathermen and 'women like to sometimes exaggerate things).Anyway,I just wanted to make everyone aware that we could be in for a spot of trouble with this one.

  11. I guess Ralphie's mother was right...you'll shoot your eye out.  Sorry, I couldn't resist.

    I love that movie!

No.I've never been shot, but I have survived an horrific traffic accident.About ten years ago,the police were pursuing a stolen motorcycle and the motorcycle shot through an intersection against the red light and caused a truck to swerve (avoiding the motorcycle) but slamming into me...at the time I drove an AMC Pacer (yeah, you can laugh...but I loved that little car). The impact destroyed my car,and I was hospitilized and had to undergo surgery.I lost my spleen, had to have my pelvis re-set (it was broken clean in two),and underwent months of rehab just to learn how to walk again. It was a low point in my life. But my faith in God,my family, and friends pulled me through.

  12. Yeah, you kind of lose site of the fact that real people sacraficed their lives, homes, and families to help forge this great country of ours.I saw this page at funlol.com a few months back, around the 4th of July.It really makes you think.I don't know if I could do what these men did,in similar circumstances. They were very courageous, men of conviction.
