  1. Simply amazing...

Episodes don't generally stir a lot of emotion up with me...except when the crew is kicking some serious behind!! I think this episode is even above "Cogenitor" in the scheme of debate. The tension is what made it so wonderful. However, since there was no other viable option (to killing Sim off -- err..sacrificing him), I think Archer was right in his decision. With the seriousness of the Expanse and Earth at stake...I would endorse such behavior as well. It was very bittersweet. I enjoyed "Sim." Like the doctor, I think the writers made it very easy for the audience to become attached to him. Glad that Archer was stern...but you could tell it was eating away at him on the inside. Especially when he was teaching Sim to fly the model plane. (broken bow anyone?) Then the entire fling with T'Pol..... Guess that the cat is out of the bag, now isn't it? I'm glad to see their relationship go there.

Yes, like the others mentioned previously... I started to cry (you didn't see me post this <_<) at the end when Sim decided to go through with it. And Phlox's relation to him....simply touching. It was a great episode...no doubt. Best of the season and first to make me shed a tear. Thanks...I needed that

    10/10 -- Superior

  2. I actually didn't like the fact that Archer offered to take them back to Earth. I think he should have told them about Earth...but not take everyone back, because what if Earth was destroyed by somebody else besides the Xindi.. at least humans would survive in some other location in the galaxy. And even though they were taking a long time to make "civilized progress", they could have surpassed the Earth humans eventually in technology and societal evolution. Just an interesting afterthought ....

  3. Bravo Bravo!! A solid episode.

Everyone looked real natural in the old western setting. The actors were great. The story was great. So many good "western" reflections. My favorite scene was with Archer in the saloon in the beginning. The old "tough guy" stranger attitude was great for him. Excellent cinematography (something I think the producers should recognized for this season.] The action sequences were cool. Plus I also liked Trip and T'Pol together in the horse scene. That was funny.

Man...I'm still hyped about this episode!

    9.5/10 -- Season 3 is solidified.

  4. I think you could mix this thread with the "who needs a promotion" thread. Of course I concur with everyone on Mayweather. He needs to get bumped up to Lt. Commander or something. I don't know if the writers are scared of using Mayweather or what their deal is. If there isn't one episode in season 3 dedicated to Travis...I'll be disappointed.

  5. I think it would be real nice to just continue "space and exploration of social issues." and then maybe introduce a new dilemma at the end of season 4. However, I don't know how long Enterprise can survive without a storyarc. The Expanse has helped them out a 'little'. Does anyone have the ratings research to show this?

One thing that hurts this show is the lack of marketing. Paramount has so much money. Has anyone ever seen a billboard on the side of the highway with "Enterprise" advertised on it? They don't exist here in Atlanta, thats for sure. I have only heard radio promos (on Wednesdays of course) and seen the UPN ads.

Back on topic...I look forward (sadly) to resolving the Xindi conflict and moving on.

  6. First I have to say that I loved the original theme song. I never missed the beginning because I loved to listen to it on my stereo.  However if I had to choose another song I would choose " Wherever you will go" by The Calling. This was the song that was played in all the promos for Broken Bow. I've always liked it. It really got me pumped for the new series and I was disappointed when it wasn't used in the premiere.

Wow...you just completely read my mind.

    I second this notion.

  7. Ah...schematics always remind me of how in the heck do the warp engines stay attached to the ship when it jumps to warp instead of being ripped right off.

Must be a pretty strong binding to the main body of the ship. ST physics guys...got an answer?

  8. Season 3 is the best:

    Click for Spoiler:

Wow....what a good episode. The idea isn't so original, but I enjoyed it anyway. There are so many great things to list about this episode...the character developments...the action...the "could-have-been" timeline. VGB..you're correct. This episode had a lot of references. My favorite was the "shran" line. I really like T'Pol's look in this episode. She looks great in a normal uniform and with long hair. Phlox look liked a redneck Denobulan, lol. I gotta say...everytime this episode went to commercial break, it was intense! Also..the bridge attack was great (well not for Trip and the crew).

At least we got a sneak peak at the weapon...that thing is BA. Ok...enough of this mindless talk...I need to watch this again! Can't wait for the wild wild west next week.

    9.5/10

  9. Click for Spoiler:

This is a very good point. One thing that can be said is that the reptilian Xindi are building the weapon. So I was thinking maybe the repetilian homeworld (wherever that is now -- if one exists] gets destroyed. However, that idea contradicts when we see the Xindi council in action, because you see every kind of Xindi... sloths included.

Another off subject theory. Remember the 50 spheres?...they definetly have something to do with this...a more important role than is currently presented. Why would someone build 50 anomaly causing spheres? Just for the heck of it? Or are the anomalies some kind of side effect for the real purpose of the spheres? They are hiding something in my opinion. But, we'll just have to see.

  10. Also...

    Click for Spoiler:

I would like to add that I enjoyed this episode because it was unusual. Unusual in the sense that the landing party was not caught nor detected. It made for a rather enjoyable episode. Too many times do we see people sneaking around only to be found. It makes great tension and drama, but it gets old after "being caught" or "invoke conflict" scene #7854.

  11. Fantastic!

    Click for Spoiler:

Ah...the almighty plot revealing episode! Learned some great things in this episode. Foremost, the Xindi homeworld was destroyed by the reptilian Xindi during a civil war. So..that explains the debris field. The colonists didn't know that they were producing a chemical used for WMDs. Lastly, the crew lost the tracking signal of the Xindi cargo ship, but its not too far away! Great forest scenes. The cinematography is just stunning. Trip was hilarious with the transporter/rifle scene! Archer played one of darkest roles yet, becoming almost violent with his threats (great human reflection!] Overall...a great bridge episode.

Can't wait for next weeks episode. Anyone notice in the trailer that T'Pol is wearing a Starfleet issued uniform?

    9.0 outta 10!

  12. I just rewatched 'The Xindi' and I have some questions....

    Click for Spoiler:

Why was the planet gone? Why did the Xindi captive believe the planet was still there or did he? How could it have been gone for 150 years already? What are you thoughts? Were the heck was Travis when T'pol was in command and they were awaiting the 2 shuttle pods to return to the ship? Shouldn't he have been there in that situation?

    In reply:

    Click for Spoiler:

The Xindi homeworld was destroyed...unfortunately, the cause has not yet been revealed in season 3. I have a theory that maybe the Xindi destroyed their own world...but I still can't piece that one together. I mean....the one thing that I don't understand is HOW they KNOW that humans are going to destroy their world in 400 years? Do they have some kind of link with future guy too? As for the individual Xindi in the mine, I don't remember hearing a specific amount of time that he had been there. I don't think he would use his dying breath to give fake coordinates...but you never know with these Xindi!

I wasn't paying much attention to Travis, but he was in one of the shuttle pods with the MACOs. I guess they have a REALLY good secondary helmsman.

  13. Does Enterprise have escape pods?  If so, where would they be located?

Yes, Enterprise does have escape pods. Remember "Shuttlepod I" where Malcom and Trip are surveying the damage on the asteroid? One of them says "what about the escape pods? The other one replies, "no, they would be right here waiting for us to return." sorry..not exact quoting..but something close to that.

As for where they are located?? Who knows...

  14. Wild Turkey?

 Don't even go there! Don't ever play Quarters with the stuff either :)

Sounds to me like you've run afoul with that bird before. Quarters huh? Make it a Jack Daniels and I'll see you on the other side!

Wild Turkey (shivers)....that stuff is leathal after a couple of beers.

AND Yes -- I know about beer before liquor.....at least I do now :)

  15. Ah, I don't want to ruin anything for you, but I'll answer your questions as best I can without doing so.

So, in general terms, because I don't want to know what happens in Season 3 yet, how is it better/worse/same/different compared to Seasons 1 and 2?

Season 3 is better because it is based on a story-arc. It has a couple of standalone episodes you could say, but they all contribute little details into the overall picture. Very good story-telling!!

For example, timewise for the main crew : Who is getting more time, less, the same... is it quality screentime?

Overall....you are getting the main three (T'Pol, Archer, Trip) getting the most screen time of course. The entire bridge crew including Travis and Reed are getting more screen time this season than the previous, but not their own shows.....not yet!

Has Travis said anything yet? (please don't tell me if he is now Captain! haa haa.  ) No--you can tell me if he is Captain!

Travis has been a vital part of the crew this season 3. However, I don't think he gets nearly enough screen time as he should. Its a competition between him and Reed for the most underdeveloped character on the show.

Are the stories a mix or are they skewed towards action more now?

The stories have a good balance this season. Some are fast paced with lots of action, while others are very plot oriented. I think someone noted in another thread that phasers have been used in every single episode this season.

One thing which entertained me has been the mix of drama, action, effects, character moments, humour. Are we still getting this in Season 3?

If I liked Seasons 1 and 2 (which I did) am I likely to enjoy Seaon 3 also in your opinion?

Season 3 has started off in a great manner. I can't speak for everyone, but I have seen every episode and I believe that this is Star Trek at it's finest. Season 1 and 2 were great, but Season 3 has shown much more potential and the story telling is phenomenal.

Hope that helped....have patience...it is worth the wait.

  16. I just rewatched this episode for the first time in a long while. Its funny to see what a mess the Enterprise was in when it left spackdock for the first time. Malcom was having trouble aligning the torpedos. (just look at those torpedos and how slow they moved out of the port!) T'Pol was a lot more insecure and critical of Archer's decisions and Hoshi was a lot more annoying (thank god for character development!) It is interesting to see the difference between the "Expanse" crew and the crew that originally started off.

OT: I rewatched another great episode "Shuttlepod I" -- probably in the top five episodes on my list. Question to all of you Enterprise Trivia nuts! What kind of Kentucky Bourbon are Malcom and Trip sharing? :)

  17. Here I am on the side of controversy again and the minority BUT I would like to see Archer killed off in a blaze of glory and bring Trip in promoted to captain. Archer is too weak and unstable as a captain. I think Trip's go get em style would fit closer to the TOS type of captain. Archer is too TNG/Picard type to be believable.

    Ktrek

You know..interestingly enough...I had this same thought!

It isn't that I don't like Archer, hes brilliant!!

But I could see him going out in maybe season 6 and then Trip taking over.

Trip would be great plus it would at something new to a ST that hasn't happened before.

Arrrghh..that was a bad thought. I love Archer!

  18. Though I'm enjoying Trip/T'Pol, the best relationship on board has been Trip and Malcolm from my perspective, their little "moments" and all, with Trip and Archer a close second.    The Trip/Malcolm interactions were my favorite in "The Expanse" (Malcolm showed real restraint and understanding by not responding in kind when Trip blew up at him in the corridor) and "The Xindi."

Yes, to one extent I would imply that Trip is one of the most developed characters in the show. It has come through in his friendships with Archer and Malcom. We need another "Shuttlepod I" type episode in the story arc or another "Congenitor." I wish they would develop Malcom and Travis a bit more.

As for relationships on the show, it would be no fun to watch Enterprise if the crew did not start, develop, or end relationships amongst one another. As for the "love connection" floating around the ship...i think the "sexy appeal" of the show is foreshadowing something to come.
