Well, you have to consider something that the other ship wasn't build for.

The Enterprise-D was for the crew and their families.

A lot of non Starfleet personnal were on board.

So, being like a spacey hotel isn't a bad thing considering that

I think they should keep the same characters.If you keep changing characters then there is no character developement.And if you have no character development then you cant have a very good plot episode after episode.

 

As far as changing ships if it were written well and only happened once MAYBE twice in a series then I wouldnt mind.

The change in all those that "affected" me the most (except, of course, Data's death) is the death of Tasha.

I really like her character. Same anger and determination than Kira in DS9. A strong character. I really like her comming back in Yesterday enterprise and "as" Sela.

I would have missed his presence.

However, it would have been consistent with the Star Trek universe.

Like I don't think 7 of nine was planned in the serie, as the depart of Kes.

I'm a family person. Don't be able to communicate with them would be so hard.

But, well, it's not like you got a choice.

I would probably keep myself really really buzy. Find new hobby... learn a musical instrument perharps.
