Technically they already have a sort of prototype for the replicator. Its called the 3D printer(i think)It uses ink, corn starch, and alot of other materials to print things in 3D that work!!!!!!!!So far that I know of scientists have made working ball bearings and sports equipment(footballs, basketballs, baseballs, ect.)So we may not be far off from having some sort of replicator. ;)

I may post something about this is the tech. forum if i can find information

Yes, I know the technology, we use it where I work.

It's called rapid prototyping in English I think

It's quite fascinating what they can do with this..

Quite usefull to see the result of a drawing before thinking of machining them to see the flaws and modifications.

  2. I think that Star Trek VI The Undiscoverd Country is the best. The Wrath of Khan and Nemesis are both close behind it however. After that I would probably go III, First Contact, the Voyage Home, Insurrection, The Motion Picture, Generations, and The Final Frontier gets last place.

    The Final Frontier ....

Honestly, i really have a problem with that movie..

My favorite TNG is first contact

My favorite TOS is The Undiscoverd Country

But I liked them all... except..

The worse is Final Frontier *shivers*

That movie had potential... But well... I don't know, they're something I just can't take about that movie, and I don't know what.

  3. ;) Sorry ensign, this was one of my least favorite episodes.  To me it just didn't "Jive" with the Kes that left Voyager.....the character that loved her fellow crewmen so much that her final gift as she left the ship was to throw Voyager 10 light years closer to earth.....a Kes who had almost a daughter like relationship with Captain Janeway.  It just didn't seem logical to me that she'd somehow in her mind turned into this villan type that wanted revenge.on everyone........again this is just my opinion.  But I did enjoy reading your "take" on the episode.......By the way, Welcome to the boards. ;)

I have to agree that for me too, it was hard to see Kes that way.

How a so good natured person can turn so bad...

    It's so hard to figure

  4. I use to read the books at the end of high school (around 16-18)

I got some DS9, some TNG, one or 2 Voyager and 1 or 2 Crossover.

I was buying them then and really enjoyed it.

But now, I suppose I have other interests... :T

And I like to build my own stories in my mind.. LOL

  5. I just can't compare...

    Both series created a universe.

Star wars world was created into the movies.

Star Trek world was created outside the movies.

I think as a "whole", Starwars is well done. The old trilogy that is.

I don't really cared about the new segment.

As at ST, they had good and bad movies.

    So.. I'm sorry, I just can't choose

  6. Star Trek will live forever in reruns.  I'd just watch those until some new people come in and start up another show, much like after TOS.  I still have a lot of Voyager, the first season of Enterprise, most of DS9, and Star Trek: VI to watch.  That'd keep me busy for a while.  And of course, books!  Books, books, books!  Star Trek will never just die, because it will never be forgotten.

The universe that Star Trek created will not die

So, books, rpg people and fans will always make it live...

  7. TOS - Kirk/Spock

    TOS movies - Kirk/Spock

    TNG - Data/LaForge

    TNG movies - Picard/Data

    DS9 - O'Brien/Bashir

    VOY - Seven/The Doctor

    ENT - Arcer/Trip

I think these have been the best duets!

My favorite: VOY - Seven/The Doctor

Reason: I dunno, I just think they had some of the most emotional stories.

I have to agree with you 99%!! For me the absolute best duet would have to be Kirk/Spock!!!

    I agree with the general..

I liked a lot Bones and Spock in TOS, and Garak and Bashir in DS9.

My favorite would be O'brien and Bashir... The episode when Keiko did all so they could go together again in the holosuite was just too right... heheheh

  8. However, both DS9 and VOY ended their series very abruptly and definitely, leaving little room for a movie. And Ent is far to early on yet.

    I don't agree for DS9.

They were a lot of plot unsolved...

What happends to Bajor? Will it join the federation someday?

When Sisko will be back and on what form?

And will Odo be able to make his kind understand that solids aren't all bad and inferior?

    And on and on...

I'm sure they would have been able to do another DS9 season without it being boring...

    So why not a movie?

  9. Too much action, not enough character scenes - Director's fault, a "special edition" could fix this though.

    I agree!!!

I don't really care about the desert scene! I would have given him for a "friendship" scene btw Geordi and Data or a goodbye scene btw Picard and Crusher.

Or just hear Geordi say something about Data after he died...
