  1. DS9. Which is more interesting? Quarks or Ten-Forward? I would really enjoy the blend of Cardassian architecture and Bajoran decorations. Plus all the other reasons stated in other posts.

My second choice would be Voyager.

  2. :)

Yay! That's my good deed for 2004 done! And on the subject of the DS9 companion, BUY IT! I mean it! No matter what the price, it's worth it. Easily. Ten times over.

Just don't bother with the Voyager one...:bow:;)

  3. Here you go welfconfed. This extract is taken from the official DS9 companion. It's the first stanza of the song from 'Soldiers of the Empire'. Enjoy!

    Hear Sons of Kahless

    Hear Daughters too

The blood of battle washed us clean

    The warrior brave and true.

    Now everybody!

  4. Well, he got his own DS9 show named after him... Some of us would chew off our own elbows to get that!

He also gave an interview in the DS9 companion. AND he got to hang around on the sets... Some of us would chew off... you get the picture.

  5. I liked Seven of Nine. It was fantastic that Voyager choose to humanise the Borg in such a way. However, towards the end of the series I did feel that her character was emphasised, for want of a better word, too much. It seemed that quite a lot of the time Voyager became the Janeway/Seven show, with most of the remaining cast in secondary roles and some, Chakotay and Tom spring to mind, were almost completely forgotten. Now as I said before, I LIKED Seven's character and the whole struggling with humanity concept, but sometimes too much of a good thing can be bad for you.

As for Kes, I liked her in a passive kind of way. She didn't really make or break Voyager for me. If I had to pick between Kes and Seven, I would probably pick Seven. Of course, in an ideal world BOTH would have stayed on. :(

With all that said, I'm now off to watch Unimatrix Zero, a *taa-daa* Seven show.

    And a good one.

  6. Nice ship Trekzone. I love the Akira ships! They look so much cooler then say, a Galaxy class.

I think I mentioned somewhere a long time ago that I designed two new ships for my fanfic. The fanfic was dropped (GCSE year) but the ships remain. Huzzah! Now all I need is some design software...

EDIT: I just read your Spoiler. Your fanfic sounds very interesting! I think I'll check it out...

  7. Can anyone reccomend a decent, fairly cheap design program that I could use to attempt to recreate my fanfic ST ships? It doesn't have to incredibly detailed, just so's it can represent the shape and such. Any information people can give would be wonderful!

By fairly cheap, I mean anywhere between £0-£100.

  8. I rather liked the over-saturation of Trek, from a short term view, but then I only started watching Star Trek towards the end of TNG so I don't know no better or different. I see your point CJLP on over-saturation being bad for the Trek franchise as a whole, so I agree we could use a year or two rest.

I would say I would much prefer around 2380 for the sixth series timeline. Again, this is because the main series I have watched are TNG, DS9 and VOY. I've just fallen too much in love with the Akria's, the Intrepid's and the Lydia's...

Maybe the TV series in the 24th century and the movies in the 23rd? ;)

  9. This is a DS9 one. In 'Hippocratic Oath' Bashir and a Jem Ha'dar are talking to each other and the camera is constantly cutting from one to the other. Well... When Bashir is talking he and the Jem are facing each other but when the Jem's talking to Bashir, Bashir has his back to the Jem.

As the camera keeps cutting back and forth every couple of secs it's quite hard to notice. I only saw it when I rewinded my DVD's a couple of times...

  10. I have no idea why but it's true. I think I read somewhere that they are 3 metres tall, which is higher than the Ent-D's. Although your right, that wouldn't make up 20 decks worth.

I know it makes the corridors fell nice. My only guess is that using space economically is not a imperitive part of Voyager's design, (unlike the Defiant) and tall corridors just add ambiance.

  11. Making it a Galaxy ship would have reduced the tension of Voyager. Compare Little Ship lost in the Delta Quadrant' to 'Big, Powerful ship lost in the Delta Quadrant'.

I would be fine with serving aborad an Intrepid. The little ship I wouldn't want to serve on would be the Defiant. No Holodecks, No relaxation areas and I'd have to sleep in bunkbeds!

  12. Hello! I would say that nobody of Star Trek could be an homosexual. I love Data, who is normal.

Hiya star_rose. I really hate to nit-pick but could you clarify one thing for me? Do you mean 'normal' in the context in that he has the same sexuality as the rest of the crew ie Hetrosexual, or do you mean 'normal' in the context that Hetrosexual's are normal and Homosexuals and Bisexuals are 'abnormal'?

BTW, I would have loved to have just once seen two males or two females having a quite kiss in the background in Ten Forward. No need to draw any attention to it, just for it to be there. I would have been nice... awwwwww... :(

  13. After having just watched 'In Purgatory's Shadow' and 'By Inferno's Light' I've got to say, those two episodes are among the best television I have ever seen, bar none. A classic one and a half hour tale of honour, betrayal, love and hate. And of course Garak, who steals the show. :)

It also has one of those classic Worf quotes.

Worf: [to Sisko] 'At the first sign of betrayal, I will kill him. [Garak] But I promise you this: I will leave the body intact.'

Sisko: 'I assume that is a joke?'

    Worf: 'We will see.'
